When we first started working with Lucy we thought she was a bit odd but overall really great and nice. She left us detailed notes, sent us pictures, and even gave our cat a Christmas gift while we were out of town. Her quality of care, however, has steadily declined throughout the time she cat watched for us. She’d leave one note, wouldn’t send updates unless prompted, and fed our cat cheap canned food. Her professionalism took a turn for the worse when she recently watched our cat. We came home to find that our cat had gained 2 lbs in the 8 days we were gone and had been overfed as evidenced by bowls full of kibble, even though we don’t free feed our cat.
I tried to reach out to her to see what had happened. Maybe it was due to the blizzard or a family emergency. But she never responded. Finally after a couple of days of waiting to hear from her I asked for the extra keys to my apartment back, to which she responded she would no longer be able to provide her services to us because she felt unappreciated. While trying to get my keys back from her she acted extremely childish and absurd. She demanded $ 10 in exchange for the keys because she bought more cat food while we were gone. I pushed back because, somehow in 8 days the cat had been fed half a bag of kibble not to mention we left enough food for her if Lucy had followed proper feeding instructions. She then threatened to sue us for the $ 10. We paid the ransom for the keys to our home and luckily will never interact with her.
She seems like an affordable option for pet care but you’re paying for someone who thinks they know better than you. Someone who makes executive decisions on how your pet should be treated. Personally, I’d rather go with someone more trustworthy and reliable who won’t throw a tantrum if things don’t work out. Go with someone professional who treats you and your pets amicably and respectfully.
