The service here is the absolute worst I have ever encountered in this city, let alone any location period. Incredibly rude and terribly condescending, save your money and go literally anywhere else… The beer is skunked anyway

It is perfect for friends go outs in Thursday nights. Cheap drinks, huge place, quick service and fun ask a number game.

Walked into the bar to watch a Steelers game and found that almost every seat was reserved and empty. Won’t be back since they believe that some patrons are more important than others. I had such high hopes for this place.

What happens when you leave Paddy Long’s drunk on bacon and beer? Well if you are me and my friends on a college football Saturday you stumble into Durkin’s of course. They are a Penn State bar with cheap Bud Light which is good enough for us when we are already pretty buzzed. The plastic cup situation was a bit weird but to each their own. Also stick to beer and avoid the shots because those things get really expensive. Sorry I do not have a price because we were pretty drunk when we left and just paid the tab. Not a bad spot I guess but I am sure there are better sports bars in the area if you look a bit harder than we did.

Love Durkin’s for the Steelers. Late night… Oh no. Bartender was off her Rocker. Showed up with two guy friends late night. We were actually there earlier. She has great memory. Can’t say much for customer service skills. So we came back to Durkin’s. My friends had forgotten to close their tabs earlier in the night. We decided to get another drink. As I was at the bar, some guy was desperately trying to hit on me, as I was desperately trying to get the attention of the bartender. Once I finally did, she asked me whether I was trying to pay for the drinks I had earlier. I explained I had paid for them before I left. She rolled her eyes and asked me then what was it I wanted. Thanks for keeping it real. I told her for the second time I’d like a beer. She said«ok absolutely» and sarcastically smiled. At that moment I asked the guy by me if he was her boyfriend. He hesitated and told me «nah, but we have some issues.» I immediately told him to get away from me as she handled my debit card. I apologized to her, although, not my problem. She(so drunk from being behind the bar all night) asked me if I thought I I was affecting her? Nope. Just the beer please. Keep your bartenders a bit more sober. Keep their drama out of the bar. Ridiculous. Do your job.

Steelers game on about 374 TVs… check! Iron City beer… check! This is THE bar for Steelers fans on gameday. A special thanks to John and the Godfather for welcoming in us out-of-towners! *Note to Durkins mgmt: please get some Yuengling up in here.* If you do that, we might just drive down from Mpls every Sunday!

Durkin’s was a solid 3-star place when it was an Illinois bar(if only for the close resemblance to KAMS) but now that it’s a Penn State bar there is absolutely zero reason for anyone to ever want to go there, ever.

We have been here several times and we pick this hole in the wall over other establishments in the area because of the great staff and incredible specials. $ 3.00 drafts and $ 4.00 U-call-it’s on Sunday. AD is the best. He is always attentive and welcoming as if you have been coming to Durkins for years.

Good little neighborhood bar with a nice beer list. Surprisingly good burgers, too! Tad loud but it’s a bar. Been here a few times for pints and now and then for a hamburger. Pennsylvania sports(Steelers and PSU) bar so be advised for certain game days, especially football season.

Ugh. I used to always walk past this place when I practically lived in Lakeview, and it never appealed to me then. But, I was back in the neighborhood this past Friday night, barhopping with a couple of coworkers, one of which lives close to the area, and we just decided to walk in on our way to Headquarters. It was SUPERLOUD, we had to shout to be able to hear each other. And the place was packed with bros and the typical college crowd. We go to the back area where we find a table. It took several minutes before a server came to check on us. Actually my friend was on his way to the bar when he bumped into our server. It took her a while to get our order straight. We just asked for 2 Green Lines, one Lagunitas(their only on draft was the All Day IPA) and 3 Washington Apple shots. She kept getting the number of Green Lines confused and kept calling them GREENLIMES, and kept saying«Lagwinitas» and asked what Washington Apples were, «Wait, what are those? Are those shots or something?» Once she finally got the order straight, heads to the bar and after 5 minutes or so, brings everything to us. My guy friend then asks for the check right away. She comes back to drop off the receipts after running his credit card. As he’s going through the receipts, he looks at one copy and rhetorically ask me and my other friend, «What’s this all about?» and leaves the copy of the receipt in the middle of our table. I grab it, and look at what our server wrote and she wrote«303 Indian» Now…my guy friend is Indian… and I’m not familiar with the realm of serving and bartending, and maybe servers use descriptors to identify cards/items/tables with the person… but REALLY? Black shirt wouldn’t have sufficed? Table number wasn’t enough? He was the only guy with us at our specific table. I don’t know… seeing that left a really bad taste in our mouths. We stayed for another few minutes before chugging our beers and leaving. Just…never again.

A very good city bar. Not too many«Hipsters» and the service was outstandafantastic! Really great service for the city and that’s what stood out. Prices were fair, atmosphere nice… and got a free Bickell Dog from Meatheads because the night I was there they were giving away the Bickell Dogs as a fundraiser. A really great night for a fella that doesn’t enjoy the city all that much!

I just watch a girl bar tender eat pizza, lick her figures and not wash them… I am glad I just paid my tab and didn’t order a drink with a garnish

First off, I live next door to Durkin’s so why wouldn’t I love it? Rough day at work? Drop by on your way home from the el(Diversey brown line stop) and post up at your choice of not one but 3 bars! Low on cash? $ 3 pitchers of shitty flat beer(on thurs nights, the only night I’ve ever gone tbh)! Low on the D? So many cute boys to choose from!(Not that I’ve ever talked to any boys there, I don’t know how). I guess you can watch football too(but who cares, unless you do care then this bar is a great option for you). Overall, great place to hang if you just want a chill night with some buddies, and also get inexplicably trashed. 1 star docked because I’m pretty sure DePaul frequent it and let’s be honest. I’m not trying to fraternize with college kids. Please. I’d like to cry over my post grad problems with other people going through the same thing.

Contrary to the review highlites, this is a PENNSTATEBAR. Maybe it changed recently, but as of September 2014, Durkins is a Nittany Lion Bar. You def won’t find JoPa showing his face here often though… They do have an awesome craft beer selection and cozy little space. AND they just started up trivia night(Wednesday nights at 8pm) through a company called Waddayaknow. They don’t personally have a kitchen, but it’s pretty cool that you can place an order from Select Cut down the alley and they go get your food for you! Pretty cool bar if you’re in the area def give it a try. It’s better than it looks!

The drunken idiots cavorting within are more than counterbalanced by the attentive waitresses who will join you in laughing at the spectacle. Plus, watching them dodge flying bros while carrying trays loaded with drinks is a sight to behold. On the loud side, but the prices are reasonable.

Hot and sweaty… is all I can think of and no not in a good way. My friends picked this place for the Blackhawks playoffs because they’ll play the sound when the game, which is the ONLY way to watch Blackhawks Hockey! We got there right before the game start and was able to snatch a corner in the back room. We had a few dishes: the friend mac and cheese things were delicious! The fun part were the random specials during the game’s intermission. Know what a lunchbox is? We didn’t but it’s playoffs why the heck not! It turned out to be have a pint of beer, a splash of OJ, and a shot of amaretto! YUM! It got really crowded at Durkin’s and the worse part is I had to take off my Toews jersey/sweater because there was no freaking AC! or was there? I had asked our server a few times and she couldn’t give me a straight answer but actually agreed with us that it was disturbingly hot in the back room. Also it got so busy our server basically forgot about us. We ended up going to the bar to place our orders since there was only 1 of her and 30+ of us. Not a bad place to chill and catch a game, but I wouldn’t go back until they fix the air or not be cheap and turn it on!

Oh Durkin’s…we have quite the history don’t we? Durkin’s was one of my regular haunts when I first moved to Chicago after I graduated college and I loved it-drink deals, parties, shot specials… for a 22 year old it doesn’t get much better. Well, I’m a little past 22 so I’m not really a frequent flyer anymore, but for a little day drinking and sports watching Durkin’s is alright. Typical crappy fried bar food but the beer is cold and the waitresses visit often.
