DVA was a great place but — unfortunately — it’s closed and has been for some time now…

I’ve attended a couple of openings here, and really liked what I saw. The atmosphere is totally un-pretentious for an art gallery. The works are unique– the types of things that you’d see in Juxtapoz or such. More avant-garde and urban than stuffy and elitist. If I were richer my home would be decorated in works from this spot, but alas! I am a starving artist myself. Check this place out when you’re next in Lincoln Park and you won’t be disappointed.

I think DVA is a refreshing breeze to the monotonous neighborhood that is Lincoln Park. The façade is unassuming and looks like any other business along Lincoln ave. but you’re definitely not going to find boring, reproduced art work like you see in a lot of other«galleries» that do custom framing. The owner works hard to always keep the monthly openings fresh and exciting. The space is always neat, spacious and easy on the art lovers eyes. I do like how the owner never compromises on who he books for the shows and always tries to keep a nice variety of artists showcasing local, and national talent. I think this gallery is much needed in Lincoln Park to break up the bars, frat boys, suburbanites, and general retarded debauchery that LP has become. Damn drinking that haterade on Lincoln Park son!

This cute little gallery on Lincoln has some of the coolest artwork around. I went to their Anniversary Party, which featured Tiki art. Between the tropical drinks and the fez-wearing band it was an inspired evening of super rad art. The shows feature various local talents all in a theme of sorts. I strongly recommend going to one of their openings.
