Eye-Cetera

I took my then 4 year old son to Eye-​Cetera in 2013 and was very pleased with the service from the eye doctor he saw. She was incredibly patient with him. The reason for the low rating is the office staff. I had two incredibly negative experiences. First, while I purchased one pair of eye glasses for him at eye-​cetera, I needed a couple of cheap back up pairs. Eye-​Cetera was very reluctant to give me his eye prescription info to do so. Second, a year later, when I asked for his medical records to be transferred, eye-​cetera charged me $ 25 for this request but never actually sent anything. The excuse is they never received the medical release form that I faxed. My thought is if you really didn’t get my release form, then why charge me. So I think the doctors are great but the office staff seems a little untrustworthy.
My two cents.

I do admit I loved my glasses I got but I don’t like they didn’t give me the point for glare free glasses.
And I don’t like the staff professionalism they didn’t notice my astigmatism until I noticed it myself. I was never measured for contact lenses and they just gave them to me which isn’t good at all. Overpriced contact lenses (ripped off).
I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Loved them. Went in to get a pair of glasses– and they were extremely helpful and even politely helped with all my indecisiveness in choosing a pair. Highly recommend.

After begging my mom for contacts when I was in 7^th grade, now all I want to wear are my glasses.
Staring at a computer screen all day while sporting my contact lensees was causing my eyes to quickly grow tired. I’ve had the same pair of glasses for a few years, but I’ve scratched up the lenses quite a bit and desperately needed a replacement pair.
I go to Taub Eye Clinic, so I checked out the frames at Eye-​Cetera as I figured they would take my insurance (VSP). They have a good selection — lots of different designers, styles and colors. This was my first time buying glasses without my mom (she somehow knows what looks best — mother’s intuition!), and I was clueless as to what I wanted.
J.P. came over to me shortly after I started looking, and he found a great pair of Vera Wang frames for me to try on. I loved the shape, but I wasn’t crazy about the color. He looked up the frames and found that they came in auburn — the color I was looking for. He ordered the frames and assured me that if I didn’t like them, I didn’t have to move forward with having the glasses made.
Of course, I loved them and moved forward with the order the moment I tried them on. The whole process was easy and painless. J.P. was hugely helpful in giving me advice on what looked good on my face, and I absolutely love my glasses. They’re exactly what I wanted and I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on them!

I thouroughly enjoyed my experience at Eye Cetera! Not only was the ophthalmologist the nicest man but I was truly blown away by the professionalism and friendliness of the optical staff. I was lucky enough to have Amanda help me during my visit. She was knowledgeable, answered my questions and made me feel comfortable about my choice. She explained all of my options and for someone who cringes at anything and everything insurance related, I was surprised to find that with proper explanation, it was not so confusing afterall. Amanda was wonderful and I can’t wait to see her again next year. I will be recommending Eye Cetera and Amanda to my friends and coworkers due to Amanda’s personable professionalism and the overall experience I had during my recent visit.

This optical shop is one of my absolute favorites! They are really convenient if you work or live downtown… right at the corner of Michigan Ave and Randolph. I get my eyes checked at the clinic once a year, and I always find myself looking at new frames immediately after. The selection is not as extensive as the huge chain stores, but the quality and style is great. I have always been able to find several options here. They carry really nice brands, and have a LOT of colors and styles to choose from.
On my most recent visit I was actually looking for something very specific that I had seen online, and I wanted to actually try them on before I bought them. Even though they didn’t even carry the brand in their store, they ordered it for me with no risk, then called me when they arrived. I was able to not only try them on, but I loved them so much I bought them! The entire staff is extremely nice, helpful and very knowledgeable. I really like them all, and mostly I trust them, which is important when you’re making a purchase like this.
Overall, I gave them 5 stars because that’s all that’s allowed. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

I love the staff at Eye-​Cetera. I particularly love Diana. She is always right on when picking a pair of glasses for me, and she has a fantastic personality to make the experience even better. I have never gone wrong here.

I went for an eye exam at the end of 2007. I got contacts and really cute Betsy Johnson eye glasses. They told me I had a one year warranty on the glasses. In November of 2008, my frames cracked on me. I called Eye-​Cetera and they told me they would contact the rep and get me new frames. The whole month of December, it was phone tag. Diana, the manager couldn’t get a hold of the rep so she would find me similar frames. So I went in the store and all the frames she selected — 4 of them I didn’t like. I told her I didn’t want stones on the side or decorations, just something simple. She said she’d try again and try contacting Betsey Johnson again, nothing… she offered me the frames in brown as a temp pair. Mine were black. So I took the temp pair because I needed to wear glasses due to my dry eye. She said she’d order me more frames and call me. I really wanted to get glasses before my vacation at the end of MARCH. Yes, MARCH… mind you I contacted the store in November. April rolls along, I leave messages for her and talk to her boss — the owner of the store who tells me she is working on it. Well, it’s September now, never heard back. Talk about great follow up and customer service. Do not offer a warranty and not replace broken glasses. Call your customers back when you say you will. I went to Northwestern and what I needed there. The staff was very nice and attentive. They even followed up with me when everything came in. Get the run around is the worse thing. Just tell me up front if you can’t get something, offer another solution and be done with it.

The people at this particular Eye Cetera are all rockstars. I went in for my yearly exam to the Taub Eye Clinic next door. My prescription changed a lot (again!) so I decided to check out the glasses boutique next door. I wear my contacts more than I wear my glasses because I have a coke-​bottle prescription. So as you might imagine, I only buy glasses when the moon is full on the 7^th day of the month, the year ends in 8 and I’m wearing green. Lo and behold, I found myself trying on a pair of frames I thought would be PERFECT for me. She seemed leery of them, but I insisted. So, they came in and they were Granpa Veteran instead of the Geek Chic I was going for. At first, I cried. BUT the Eye Cetera rockstars came through, ordered me another pair of frames that would be much better for the fit — for NO extra cost. They were as nice as can be and fast. I don’t have one complaint. Good in-​store selection (a bit pricey, but not really for downtown) and if they don’t have what you want, they will order them in a snap. They will also fix your glasses for LIFE. Great place! Go there! Thanks.
