Five stars for selection and especially service. I was actually heading the LensCrafters on Michigan Ave(which is always a sh** show and crazy busy) for new sunglasses, saw this place along the way and stopped in to check out the selection. One the guys immediately assisted me, made great suggestions for sizing and frames for my face. 15 minutes later I ordered new sunglasses and even though they are out of network for my insurance, they gave me the discount accounting for the amount my insurance would cover. Great place and would definitely recommend based on service alone. Will update the review once I have the new glasses in a couple weeks.

I have gone to Dr. Cheryl McEneaney for years when she was at another eye care store. I am so glad that Dr. Cheryl has come to Level Optical. If you are looking for a knowledgeable friendly doctor look no further. As for the staff at Level Optical, David and Burt were so helpful and patient when I was selecting my glasses. I will recommend Level Optical to my friends.

These guys are great. I had a mishap with my glasses and one of the screws popped out from the frame, never to be seen again. Came in here and the friendly staff were able to replace it, after a bit of a search for the right sized replacement. Very helpful and diligent in their level of service.

I went there to get the arms of my glasses fixed because they were too wide. The guys behind the counter were super friendly and didn’t even charge me for the adjustment. They were super quick and friendly and gave me a quick rundown of what type of lens and frames I should use.

For convenience, I tried to go to Target, Costco, etc. optical centers, but I always find my way back to this place! Great doctor and friendly & knowledgable staff. Location is in the Loop so easy to get to if you work or live downtown.

They have a wonderful selection of frames to choose from for characters looking for a bit of edge and uniqueness to ones look. Service, with the owner Michael is informative, rare and super personable. This would be a 5 stars, but I must say the other associates don’t seems to have the same drive as he does and found my interactions with them not so pleasant. The great thing about this spot, is while mostly of designer brand, even with the best of insurance you can still come out quite cheaper going with them out of network. They also have a fast turnaround, so that’s definitely a plus as well. Overall Michael is super accommodating and really cares about clients overall happiness with their investment and that truly goes a long way. Please note, I only shopped for my frames here.

I went to this place to get a fix for broken nylon wire in my frame and I was expecting about $ 2 – 3 but they did it for free and told that they are happy to help. Meanwhile another person helped me patiently to find frames for other pair of lenses I had. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any… I still owe them for fix, atleast for their amicableness I will go and buy a spare glasses from them.

I came here today for my annual eye exam. The doctor is great, very efficient, and the rest of the staff is helpful as well. The exam itself was very cost effective compared to a lot of other optometrists(especially if you don’t have any kind of insurance).

I went here on a recommendation from a co-worker. The location is great for the Loop. The eye doctor did a fine job examining my vision and explaining the change in my prescription. It was not the most thorough eye exam, but it was fine. The problem came when I was dealing with Burt who told me that I needed to pay a $ 49 fitting charge. I told him that I didn’t think the doctor had done anything to justify the fitting charge. The doctor just used the same numbers from previous contact prescription and didn’t mention anything about fitting the lenses to my eyes. I went back in after a week of wearing the new lenses and told them that I think the change in prescription was working fine. I asked their associate to price out new lenses and then Burt came over to help find my paperwork. He again gruffly mentioned the fitting fee and I told him again that I did not think it was justified. He told me that he couldn’t give me the prescription without a paid fitting fee. I ended up paying the fitting fee, but did not buy new contact lenses due to Burt’s poor service. They have a nice selection of frames, but I won’t buy from them or go to this location again.

The eye exam was only $ 90!!! Very competitive after comparing to multiple spots. The exam was quick and thorough. Burt and the doctor were both very nice and helpful. Will be back again!

10-24-2013 Rave reviews for Level Optical! The nylon wire supporting one of my lenses broke. Reading Penny S.‘s 2-18-2013 review, I went to Level Optical and asked if they could repair it. «Burt» fixed it in about 7 minutes. No charge! I wanted to reciprocate and so I returned to update my prescription. Level Optical wasn’t part of my vision insurer’s network but«Michael» made adjustments to the net cost to me of Level Optical’s «out of network» products and services was about the same. «Chuck», the eye doctor, was friendly and proficient. Michael provided excellent, attentive service. I am very pleased with all aspects of the service at Level Optical.

Glasses nose pad break emergency! I’m downtown and can’t get anywhere to get these things fixed, and I’m literally walking around with one working contact lens. HALP. I wandered into Level, busted glasses in hand, and showed the nice gentleman behind the counter what I needed. He took them, worked at them a little bit and then replaced both nose pads, tightened the posts and gave them a wipe down for all of $ 4 inside of 10 minutes. Boyfriend went there to have his own glasses fixed after an unfortunate glasses-to-rear end incident and came away with the lenses polished free of a million scratches, posts back in place and a smile for free. I’m loyal to Red Eye in Wicker Park, but if I find myself downtown with an ocular emergency I will no doubt head to Level.

I got my eyes checked here around 1130 am on a Wednesday. They were very fast — they got me in and out in 30 minutes. They are very professional and don’t try to do any of that fake sales pitch. The doctor was very knowledgeable but a bit opinionated. That’s fine as long as he does a good job checking my eyes — which he did. The place is a bit old inside but the service is amazing.

I was looking for a pair of glasses for cycling that would help with wind resistance. The salesman was very helpful and there were a ton of options. He helped me pick out the best pair of glasses, which happened to be the Rudy Project Rydon. I was very impressed with the personal customer service, most of the time, salespeople just want to get you in and out as fast as possible. This guy was not like that at all, he took his time and helped me find the correct pair for me.

My initial review still stands, this is merely a follow-up. I would have given one extra star, but chose not to– and here’s why: I receive my glasses, which exceeded my expectations in terms of look. The only problem was my vision while wearing them. I had them fitted when they came in, but at the time I was wearing my contacts so I didn’t know if the blurriness was due to me wearing both. So I’m not quite sure what the issue is since the Rx, as I was told, was the same Rx as my contacts, which are perfect. Anyhow, I will have to go back in(which is a first for me). I ordered contacts last week(after a week trial of new my contacts, which is recommended). As of today, they hadn’t come in, so I came in asking to purchase another set of contacts so I would not exceed the 2 week duration for my 2 week disposable contacts. The gentleman at the counter was kind enough to give me another pair of contacts(which would have warranted an extra star). Since my work schedule is hectic right now(it’s not easy getting to work after 9am, or off before to make a 5pm appt, and I work Saturdays) — I asked if I could have the contacts mailed to me. From what I remember, the last gentleman who helped me informed me they were competitive with 1 – 800 contacts. I found out to ship my contacts would cost $ 7.00. I asked about their willing to compete with 1 – 800 contacts in terms of shipping, and I was told the internet company only offered free shipping with a certain # of orders– which is not true. In any case, I canceled my order with level optical for this reason alone: 1)They did not seem to care about customer service(okay fine, I left a pretty negative review so maybe they hate me now. I think the best way to approach people like me is to prove me wrong– improve your customer service, and in return, I would definitely change my rating). It is hard to keep returning during their hours to get my contacts/glasses fixed. I think the least any company can do is help make this easier. Them offering to mail my contacts without a charge(as they claim they can do if they do indeed compete with 1 – 800 contacts), would have remedied the situation. I have to return one more time to see what’s going on with my glasses– which I am not looking forward to. I would take my business elsewhere if I didn’t spend so much money on my glasses in the first place.

This place was just okay. I went here for my annual eye exam and contact lens order. When I got thee i felt like the place was a bit outdated compared to the vision places I had been in the past. They were friendly enough and the service was quick. The doctor was very nice and seemed to be through in his exam however all the equipment seemed to be old and outdated… everything seemed to work fine. and in the end i ordered my contacts and they will be in in seven days… does the trick but i’m not sure i’ll be back unless i just want to avoid the contact lens fitting fee. DEALTIP: My daily contacts were $ 67 box here. and are $ 45 at costco.

I’ve been coming to Level Optical for about 8 years now, and I won’t go anywhere else again. The eye doc is fantastic — very thorough and friendly, and understands the concerns I have about my vision. The staff are obviously there as a career, not just another retail job. They know the ins and outs of everything they carry and are very professional. For the first 7 years, I would get my eye exam there but take my prescription elsewhere, because I just assumed it was cheaper at a chain. Not true! Last year, I really coveted a pair of frames they had on display so on a whim I asked about the price. Ended up not much more than what I was paying at the chains. While yes, Level Optical does seem to specialize in a lot of high-end, designer frames, they also have more budget-friendly options and will work with most insurance plans.
