Fiesta del Sol 2010 is one of the best neigbourhood fiesta’s I have ever been to. First of all there is no entry fee unlike other fiesta’s.It is best for people of all different age groups. There is so much to do right pony rides, games, trying out authentic Mexiacn food(Which I like a lot), listening to InHouse DJ and Live band. The food items are very resonably priced. I had Chicken tortas with tamarind drink and they were very good. There is one section where people display their Grafitti capabilities which is fun to watch. Overall a very nicely put up event to experience the Latino culture and food.

The Fiesta del Sol is a top notch neighborhood street festival. Abundant, cheap Mexican food, less cheap other-Latin food, and all of the trimmings of a classic carnival. Thrill rides, games of chance, pony rides, carnies! At one end, you had the Mexican light music my grandma likes and at the other end hip house music is spinning. As a whole the festival really seems to capture the cultural medley that is Pilsen. Graffiti art displays, social justice oriented folks from the neighborhood schools and community organization, and a few knick knack booths in the style of the street markets in Mexico. OMG. And did I mention there’s no stupid entry fee? Unlike north side street festa where you pay 5 – 10 bucks just to get in, then pay MORE to hear some crappy frat rock bands and eat corn on the cob? Not that I have any problem with corn on the cob. I just dont like double paying for it. Seriously guys. Check it out.

This fiesta is a very nice event for all ages. I wasn’t quite hungry so I did not eat any of the tempting ethnic dishes. I was thirsty and had a virgin piña colada out of a pineapple. How neat! This is an alcohol-free event. I enjoyed the classic Mexican band and the house music booth(at opposite ends of the fiesta). There were tag artists showing their skills on a make-shift wall, all sorts of carnival rides and games and most importantly no one standing in your way forcing you to pay an entrance fee. Viva la Pilsen!
