I can’t say much about the food considering me and my boyfriend only had guacamole and chips. We went on a Monday for $ 3 margaritas and I must say that for a Monday the place was packed… I mean it’s not a big restaurant either it has like 5 tables you can sit at and then the bar table along the wall with stools to sit on. Margaritas were yummy they have lime, wildberry, strawberry, hamaica(hibiscus), and a special Valentine’s Day one called besame mucho which is really tasty as well. We tried all of these my boyfriend got a lime margarita and a hamaica one, I got a strawberry one and a besame mucho. I sipped some of his and he sipped some of mine, pretty yummy. So the only one we didn’t try is wildberry. Overall I liked it I wish it was a bit bigger because it did get packed. They also seem to have specials everyday of the week. I want to go again for more Monday margaritas but also to try some food :)

Good tacos, great price-point. Great alternative to fast casual burrito places. The«Big» burrito was huge.

I really like this place. The tacos, tamales, and enchiladas are great. The frozen margaritas are good to. The taco of the week is usually outstanding. But, it does not compare with places like Big start and Antique Taco that seem more authentic in the way they make their food(and have more flavor). However, the staff if pretty rude. Which is why I rated them less stars. I have been going here for years and am almost to the point I don’t want to bother coming in anymore. Especially this one girl with blue hair. Every time we go in she just looks mad at the world and is pretty short with us. Never mind asking her questions about the menu like you are inconveniencing her while she is at her job. The other register employees are not much better. Be careful if you come on Margarita Monday($ 3 Margs) or Taco Tuesday($ 1 taco of the week) because it will be packed, there will be a long line, a wait for food, and most likely no where to sit. But, that is expected because of the daily specials, so you have been warned! I have also tried catering once. Bethany is great. She is probably the best and nicest person I have every interacted with at Flacos. I was also very happy with the catering — the mini sambraos were a cute touch! I would just not get quesadillas for catering — all the other food was hot and yummy but those were cold. However, that is to be expected with quesadillas as you need to eat them as soon as they are off the stove. Overall if you want fast, cheap Mexican food, and a delicious margarita and don’t mind the occasional wait or care about friendly staff interactions this is the place to go to in Printers Row!

Best tacos I have ever tasted. Great hangover food, that is actually delicious. Great prices, although super tiny sitting area. While we were there, just about everyone had the frozen sangria, and we wished we had gotten one too.

Ordered a delivery and wasn’t thrilled. Both entrees came very cold. Extra sauce that I specifically asked for 4 times over the phone was not included, and the bowl that I ordered chicken with came all sloppy in the container as if it rolled around the trunk of the car during transit, and was missing sour cream. Almost all cheap lettuce, no cheese, 1 small piece of avocado, and the Chicken… where was it??? Maybe 4 small cubes included. Not impressed! Will never order for delivery again where I can’t go back up to the counter to get things FIXED!

I really liked the vibe of Flacos, an eclectic atmosphere with some interesting art on the walls. I was surprised at how busy it got on a Sunday night. Seems like a lot of people from the neighborhood. Even though I didn’t get anything to drink, I always like to see Mexican restaurants with liquor licenses because they are hard to find in Chicago. As for the food, I felt it was just okay. The two taco dinner is a good enough deal. Unfortunately the fish taco had too much sauce and the steak taco was over seasoned as well. I also felt the rice/beans were dry. Next time I would try something else.

First off, food is ok, but it depends on what you get. I love the menu items, it tries to catch on to a modern twist of Mexican food but doesn’t go too far. The steak fries is like a nacho grande just with fries instead of nachos. The tacos and tortas are also very simple. What I don’t like too much is the steak, it almost tastes like roast beef and is too saucy and has a huge flavor kick that gets old after a while. The meat feels grainy, and personally I don’t like the sauce. Service is ok, it takes a while to get your food; one time we waited 30 minutes for our food. I guess that could be good if the food tastes fresh, but it does taste frozen. The staff at the registers really don’t act like they want to be there and are not too inviting. Well if the staff don’t want to be there, why do I want to be there? There is a cool vibe and it is a fun spot. Every time I go there is different music playing. The first time I heard Salsa, the second time I heard Hip-Hop and the last time I heard top 40. Personally I didn’t enjoy the music the last two times and so I chose to get the food to go. Other than music, Flacos Tacos has a Spanish décor that resembles the food they are trying to make. Overall, this is a good spot to go if your in the mood for Mexican flavors, and it is definitely good the first time, but the shotty service, inconsistent music, and long wait for food is enough to make me want to choose another spot, or get to-go.

I have been here a few times now for their tacos of the week. Sometimes they are amazing(Village Taco) and others they are almost flavorless. They either hit it perfectly or not at all. Service is decent and a fun atmosphere.

The price and portions are pretty darn good of a downtown restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious. The only reason I gave them one star less is because they messed up our order and didn’t even inform us about it. We waited 20 minutes for our 3 tacos to be made. Note to the chefs: Don’t make your veggie tacos with mostly rice and beans when those are already the sides. Add some fresh veggies.

We came here after a race for a few tacos and a few beers. Reasonable prices and okay tacos.

Food was good, has an authentic atmosphere more suited for lunch time. I started with the homemade tortilla chips, which came out fresh and hot! For my meal I ordered the southwestern salad with blackened chicken-so delicious! The chicken was blackened to perfection and they use a great spicy ranch dressing! I will be going back!

Ridiculously overpriced taco joint inundated by knit-hat wearing hipsters that wouldn’t know authentic food if it slapped them in the face with an Echo And The Bunnymen record. But seriously: $ 13 for three tacos the size of my wallet? What a joke.

I’m a strong endorser of flavorful Mexican food. Authentic Mexican food has a kick and spice to it above all else. This food was a little watered down in terms of flavor but still great overall. I ordered the Combo Tres and tried the«Puerco Tamale», the«Cowboy Taco», and the Mini Chicken burrito. It came with a side of rice and beans. The Tamale was very good and very authentic tasting. Not at all Tex-Mex. The Cowboy Taco seemed good on paper but didn’t have the flavor profile I was anticipating, but it was still alright. I ate the mini burrito too quickly to judge because I was pretty hungry in the beginning but ordering all three of those plus the side of rice and beans(which was delicious and everything I anticipated it tasting like) it’s enough to keep you full for a while. I’m a small person, but a big eater and I couldn’t finish it all in one sitting. As someone who comes from a town where the best«Mexican» food is Chipotle, this was a much appreciated and pleasant surprise for lunch while on a business trip. The seating at this location is horrific. Very crowded and not too much wiggle room. Come during off hours for some space and a little less noise. Lunch time they are packed!

Felt like some nachos. Ordered the steak. Pretty safe bet usually, worst idea ever tonight. The meat was cut with the grain with a flavor that reminded me of Old El Paso. Every piece had a flavor and texture that offended. Takeaway outside their delivery zone, so I pushed the steak to the side. On to the guacamole, which consisted of larger than normal chunks of tomato and unchopped cilantro leaves. Very little avocado to be found. Strike two. The beans are passable but my quest for cheese ended rather abruptly. Supposed to be nachos, right? Salsa also mysteriously absent from the bag. This is Friday night at 8:30 service.

I am obsessed with this place. The south loop was in dire need of a Mexican eatery and they scored big time with Flaco’s Tacos!(I’m sorry Taco Burrito King but the truth hurts, OK, I’ll still visit you when I am hungover) If you are feeling all fancy, you can hit up their other location at Water Tower Place. You know what they call Thursdays? THIRSTYTHURSDAYS! Yep, on Thursday you can get yourself a yummy horchata with rum for under 4 bucks. They have a clever name for every day of the week and the names all revolve around alcohol. Be still my beating heart! I rotate between three items when I come here, their bowl with either chicken or just veggies, their fish tacos(so fresh, grilled), and when I’m being naughty I have their carne asada smothered fries. Great drinks, great food, and cute place to boot.

Dang, Flaco’s reminds me of the Mexican food I miss in Chicago. The Al Pastor Burrito($ 7.45) is HUGE and so delicious. I split it with a friend, and we were thoroughly satisfied. I couldn’t stop saying, «Wow, this is great.» On Monday, there were also $ 3 margaritas. The mango went down easy. There’s some nice though packed outdoor seating on Dearborn, but the inside is also pleasant and more spacious for seating. Be sure to get some of the squeeze bottles of hot sauce. Very solid and was a food highlight in my latest trip.

Came here recently after a long hiatus, and this place is even better than I remembered! It’s a friendly, bustling spot with great food. Nice variety without being a completely overwhelming menu. I’ve always enjoyed their tacos, and they have a special for different days of the week that switches things up and makes it affordable. Their margaritas are amazing(and a steal at ~$ 5/glass) and they have wonderful salsa as well as tables indoor and out. Ambiance is fun, bright and cheery, and the food comes out very quickly. Anytime I’m in the South Loop, I’ll make my way to Flaco’s!

Just went here with boyfriend and it was a mix of good, okay, and very bad. The good: The Monday special $ 3 margaritas. I got the«Jamaican»(hibiscus) and boyfriend got strawberry. They were both good frozen fun margs that had a GOOD amount of alcohol in them for three dollars and tasted yummy. The southwest salad. Yummy, creamy, great flavors. Everything blended nicely. There was a little too much dressing but this can be fixed easily. They are liberal with the meat and all of the toppings. Boyfriend got this and I ate half of it. Luckily he’s generous with his food :). The okay: The carne asada fries. The steak was the least fun part — they had a ton of cheese, guac, tomatoes, and jalapeños. Quite good. Fries were kept crispy, which is hard when they’re doused in toppings. Really the only bad part was the overly tough steak. The BAD: The fish taco. So boring and bland! Oh my goodness, fish tacos are usually my favorite things and this one was so bad. There wasn’t much in it and what was there was bad tasting. Never getting this again — I’ll get the salad next time, because it was great.

Went here for dinner yesterday. It’s a delightful little restaurant with great food and even better drink specials. It was margarita Monday — $ 3 for any type all night. I had a Flaco’s bowl, vegetarian, which was pretty good overall. It would have been nice to have tofu options though. The best part of the restaurant was the price. Dinner for 2 with drinks was only $ 22. I definitely anticipate that I will come back here!

I had never actually tried a sangrita before visiting Flaco’s Tacos. I’d never even heard of it, actually. But it sure it tasty. It’s dangerously tasty because you may not realize how much alcohol you’re crushing until you start feeling tingly and invincible. Moving along, I also thoroughly enjoyed the food. I went with the al pastor — a personal favorite — and was not disappointed. The meat was nice and juicy, which doesn’t always happen with al pastor tacos. And as an added pleasant surprise, the chips and guac were really good. Simple things like chips and guac sometimes get neglected, but these were very good. Staff was cool, wait time was about what you’d expect for what we ordered, and the prices were more than fair. We enjoyed the meal and will be returning soon.
