I originally found my way to Mistah Frank J. Rumoro because I was desperate to become recognized as one of the jazz greats of our time after having forgotten to practice for the first twenty-five years of my life. Wanting to make up for lost time, I searched all over in hopes of finding the best teacher around. I clearly remember arriving in his studio for the first time and playing a Rush cover for him. His only reaction was to ask me if I could name any of the chords I was playing(I couldn’t). So I hung my head: 1) in shame, and; 2) in order to get a good look at his snakeskin boots, the tip of the iceberg of his hipness(…cat never mentions it, but when he was 16 he was in a band which opened for The Who. He’s also a bit of an historian and… hockey player!). So next thing I knew, I was on a steady diet of scales, arpeggios, and jazz chord shapes, which at first felt like the cognitive equivalent of eating broccoli and anchovies, but in short time got me playing rhythm guitar for some jazz standards like«Mood Indigo» and«You are the Sunshine of My Life.» I never did become a jazz legend aside from a single restaurant gig that made a customer spill their wine. But, playing guitar has since become a core part of my life and I now have a bit of a roadmap that probably doesn’t exist in any textbook. My days of rigorous study are past for now, but when I do visit the studio, Frank is as helpful as ever — morphing his teaching role towards my current goals. Now, he’s a co-arranger for my original tunes, a coach for navigating through the world of live performance, and an honest and supportive critic for any musical endeavor I might bring to the table. Judging by the range of cats who stroll into the studio as I’m leaving… Frank’s got the depth of knowledge and musicianship to bring something to even the most seasoned musician of any genre.

So, for whatever reason mine along with several other people’s reviews were filtered out. Likely because they all were posted within a few days of each other. Never you mind that, those filters aren’t built with a lot of smarts. My review along with several others are spot on… Frank is a great instructor.
