This is my 3rd time going to this place, and so far it’s good. On my 3rd try, just trying something different. I had the #12 Mongolian chicken from the special combination menu. It had I little spice to it, but overall everything was fresh & tasty. They give you a lot for your money, which is a major plus. My only complaint was, it don’t come w/a can pop, but I’m just being spoil, because most of the Chinese restaurants do.

don’t come here if you care about your health. yea, its cheap, yea the menu looks great, yea you may think its just your average chinese place. but no, i should’ve backed away from this place when i saw how unkept the interior and the kitchen looked. i saw the people in the back coughing and not washing their hands, but i thought nothing of it because i was trying to be cheap. i wouldve went to italian fiesta next door, but i never carry cash on me. so i ordered the chicken lo mein, and my god those were NOT lo mein noodles, and that was NOT chicken. whatever meat substance they put in there was very rubbery and pinkish on the inside but mostly white as if it were boiled or something, and thats not how i remember chicken lo mein to be. I don’t know what kind of noodles they use but they weren’t the regular lo mein noodles you’d expect. after a couple of bites, I just put the entire dish away because I couldn’t continue to consume whatever it was they decided to give me. the noodles looked grey. the«chicken» looked grey and now i will be calling off work tomorrow because i had to throw up this meal, and I can’t stop :) I repeat, do NOT go here. there are other chinese food places in the area, but you’re honestly better off with thai food. eat at ur own risk.

Orange chicken didn’t even have a hint of orange flavor. The shrimp fried rice it came with was just white rice doused in soy sauce with shrimp and a flavor that is just fish market. There’s way too much oil in here. The«sauce» is oil with crushed red pepper flakes. I’ve never had Chinese food so bad I had to throw it away. Until now.

Today I ordered from Fung’s and the food was not fresh. The rice tasted very old and the sweet and sour chicken sauce had an awful taste. When I called the restaurant to complain, the attendant answering the phone began to make outrageous comments towards me for calling about the food. I do not suggest anyone goes to this restaurant.

This place is a hit or miss. Whenever I order something new, I really hope that it taste good. My all time favs is the spicy chicken fried rice and broccoli and chicken fried rice combo. The customer service here needs improvement. If you’re not a regular customer, don’t expect smiles, friendly comments, or for the workers to be patient with you. I’ve been coming here for years and noticed a lot of bad service but I like a said its a real hit or miss.

The food is good. I’m scoring this at 4 stars because the food was delivered fast and was yummy. The delivery charge is $ 3, which wasn’t advertised on like the other restaurants and a little too salty, but… overall. good stuff.

You mean, I don’t have to go all the way to Chinatown to have decent Chinese in Hyde Park? This place was surprisingly good! I had the Mongolian Beef(great, but a few too many onions) and the beef chow-fun(great, but the noodles were just slightly overdone). I had been craving beef chow fun for years; not been able to find it since leaving NYC. I almost did a dance when I saw they had it, and it tasted great. Their service is friendly, they have great wonton soup, the prices are cheap. I always call ahead. This is now my go-to Chinese restaurant in Hyde Park.

This place was gross. I had vegetable lo mein and it was ramen noodles. I also had broccoli and brown sauce and it was truly disappointing. I tried this place out because someone said it was close to nyc Chinese… That was a lie.

This place doesn’t look like much. However, the food was pretty good, much better quality than expected, and a step above your average Chinese take-out. The portions are also huge, and the prices were extremely reasonable. You would be hard pressed to find a better bang for your buck.

Great prices. Quick order turnaround. Get the combination Kung Pao… The small order. It’s $ 5.25 for a ton of food

i usually get my chinese food from here during lunch. I always order the beef with rice/gravy and fried won-ton. My co-workers have tried lunch specials and they always give you a lot of food under $ 5. The food is tasty and they prepare your food fast which i like. The smoothies are awesome and right @ $ 3. One of my favorite places for lunch.

Tons of food, really cheap, didn’t get sick. But…it felt a little strange that, while we were waiting for our food(yes, if you really need some Fung’s would advise either doing delivery or ordering ahead so you don’t have to wait there…) at least five individuals actually came into the establishment to ask for food and/or money. I’m typically happy to give out food(not money) to someone who needs it… but this seemed a wee bit aggressive. Maybe I just need to get used to life on the South Side of Chicago. Also: Fung’s totally gets a better rating than Regents Park management or MAC properties. Totally better.

I’m New to the area and I am anal about Chinese food since I have been eating it all my life. With that being said, I am definitely a fan of Fung’s. Went there at random to see the quality of the food and it was GREAT. They give you more than enough food for a low price. A lunch special could be a meal for 2 – 3 people with all the food they give.

My go-to, neighborhood spot for good chinese food! You can order ahead and go pick it up, which I recommend. Delivery for those that live in the neighborhood.

ABSOLUTELYPATHETIC! I AMEMBARRASSEDFORTHESEPEOPLE! I was charged $ 3 for delivery and I put in a 10% gratuity on top if it for Fung’s Chop Suey, which is LESSTHAN a mile away from my apartment. And the driver had the AUDACITY to instruct me to come down and collect the food from his car??? What arrogance! And when the restaurant called me to, I presume, clarify, all I did was ask for a refund. Why would you charge 20% above the cost of my order for delivery and see that I have already granted gratuity only to them make me work for my food. No, Sir! Crap ass service!

The last time I ordered from here was about 5 years ago when I lived across the street… The food use to be verrrrrrrrrrrrry greasy. The shrimp that they used the the fried rice had to been deveined. Yuck I am not trying to eat Shrimp poo poo. So I stopped going there. Some of my coworkers ordered from there and it smelled soo good. I said to myself I should try it again. They must have new management because my meal was awesome. I didn’t get the shrimp tho I played it safe just in case. I got the Chicken and Broccoli with a brown sauce with black beans and spicy chicken fried rice with extra green onions. It’s good! I am eating it right now as I type! Still a bit greasy but hey it cost 4.95.

I was walking home from 47th street when I saw this Fung’s Chop Suey. It’s not a very nice place. I’ve passed by here a gazillion times but I never though to even glance at this until my stomach started calling. Inside is pretty empty — only a couple of tables, no deco at all, just an enlarged version of their full menu pasted on the wall… all the better to see! The lady behind the counter can’t really understand English very well so do speak slowly. I ordered a Fung’s Special to-go. My husband and I loved it to bits(yes! we shared!)! It was $ 8.95 in total but you get a serving worth of rice and 2 — 3 servings worth of the beef, chicken, shrimp, broccoli, chinese vege, and water chestnut in garlic brown sauce. The beef and chicken were tender, the shrimp fresh and crunchy, the sauce was tasty and flavorful. Of course it’s not the Michelin kind of standard, but it’s like what my grandma would cook and tastes just about as nice. Warms my heart to the core with such homecooked food! I wouldn’t make a special trip here just to eat the food, but if you’re in the neighborhood, no harm giving it a try!

This is about as close to New York style Chinese food that you can find anywhere near Hyde Park and probably even the rest of Chicago. It totally blows all the other Chinese places around here away. Very fresh, well seasoned, flavorful food and at very cheap prices. I’ve tried their apps which are solid and a couple of their combo meals but the Mongolian chicken stands out with chunks of chicken and a spicy sauce. Delivery is cash only but it is free(tip nicely) and there’s no minimum either which I guess is a huge oddity in Chicago. Everyone I’ve dealt with, the order taker on the phone and the delivery guy, have all been very nice and friendly.
