Gap

They have a lot of merchandise, which is great. But I wish there was a better way to wait in line for the register on the main floor. Perhaps a designated line? Rather than standing in between tables of clothes? I feel like the first 100 feet of the store is so spacious and then it gets cramped towards the back.
But overall, there is always a sale so you never have to pay full price.

I like this location. It has a huge selection, it’s clean and the staff is really helpful. I’m loving Gaps new line, some great summer capris, dresses and shirts. I come here for my wardrobe staples and never leave disappointed. I recently needed to do an exchange with no receipt and they were more than happy to help out and let me exchange my item easily with no fuss.
I’ll definitely come back.

Worst gap ever. No selection and lazy workers. huge lines while employees mill around. Was there with a stroller and no help in opening doors. Not sure why I wasted my time going there. Racks were empty

I like gap and have so many clothes from this company. Usually staffs are nice.
I walked in today (06/​22/​2015) around 1.15 pm and got the worst experience from the cashier. I didn’t understand why the price isn’t the same as it shows on the website. What he said is «show me what you found!»
I then walked to another staff. They were helpful and friendly. They explained why the price is diffident, they did not give me an attitude. Unlike the cashier 2 324 309 who provided terrible service today!

Horrible service. The store was not busy. No one asked me if they could help. I was rung up without a word. Even when i said «thank you» I was met with grumpy silence by mr big hands.

The cashier was extremely rude. Not to sound dramatic, but he stood there with a look on his face like I was wasting his time. This was my first experience at this location and don’t plan to return! The Michigan Ave and North Street locations are more helpful and pleasant. Disappointed loyal customer.

The staff was very helpful. I had a lot of questions and some required research. I didn’t get what I originally went in for but I copped a cute scarf on clearance.

This Gap is in the building where Old Navy was for the past decade or so. Located right across from Macy’s, you can’t miss it. Nothing unusual about this place… although I have to say, they should hire some window washers, as all the windows of this store was EXTREMELY grimy.
Overall, store was clean, everything appeared to be well organized, and I was greeted with friendly staff.

Came to check out the sale in the baby gap section of the store. Oh my goodness– the clothes are too cute! Merchandise was arranged and displayed nicely. The store is also stroller friendly– the elevator is to the right of the check out line on the first floor.

They are having pretty good sales right now. Ever since this place opened which wasn’t that long ago I’ve spotted some good sales in this store. It’s pretty big has 2 floors and a bunch of stuff. Staffs here are pretty nice too, very helpful. Yesterday I got 2 sweaters and 1 shirt for about $ 25.
prefer you walk or take public transit here. there is no parking. Although you could try to park on Wabash. It’s street parking, but it’s expensive and it’s very hard to find a spot.

One of the best features of Unilocal is that it allows me to write up a barrage of reviews from my trip to an exotic locale, then turn my attention to my backyard to critique one of my commonly frequented chain stores. After being overseas, my lingerie and basics drawer was in need of a refresh so I decided to take advantage of Gap’s 40 percent off event for Friends and Family and stop by this location. I came bearing my Gap card and rewards, and was not disappointed as every piece that I scored was on sale and I came away with a few stalwart basics for a bargain-​basement price (not including sales tax). My only criticisms are that pockets of the store are somewhat dark and the sale section seems needlessly compressed, especially considering all the space that this location has to work with. These are small nits to pick and heavily outweighed by the fact that with the opening of this location I no longer have to brave throngs of tourists on the Mag Mile (yay!). For that alone, this Gap is a welcome addition to the stretch of shopping along State Street.

I’m a fan of Gap for its basics and for the fact that I don’t think I have ever paid full price for something from here. (I am definitely someone who takes thrill in a bargain.) I’m also a huge fan of the Body line and almost wear their underwear exclusively. Of course, I was thrilled when Gap took over the Old Navy store here. Convenient to work, accessible for a quick jaunt over on my lunch break, it was meant to be.
Unfortunately, that’s where my happiness mostly ended. The store is organized poorly. The staff is not helpful. The maternity section is abysmal (I say this as someone who popped in maybe once a week to check out the goods for six months of my pregnancy.) It’s just… not a great shopping experience.
I did find a few things here, but mostly leave empty-​handed and really aggravated that I navigated my way through the store to be ignored by staff and confused by the layout.
Perhaps I expected too much??? (Yeah. I did.)

This Gap is the WORST. Whatever happened to customer service, or even being polite to patrons?
I came here in search of more tank tops. I had found one that was perfect and wanted a few more. I picked some out and noticed the sign that said that there was an extra 30% off of sale. I had also received an email.
I went up to the counter and literally stood there for five minutes while two associates had a conversation right in front of me. I was completely ignored. Finally a girl walked by and said she would ring me up. Then, once rung up, the sale didn’t post. I asked about the 30% off and she rolled her eyes and said, «oh, that was just yesterday». I asked her to check because the signs were up. She then got another bitchy associate to check and informed me that I was mistaken. Umm, I can read.
I nearly walked out. I will not be back. To the managers: fire these idiots you have working there.

I spoke to Gap’s corporate office who responded, «What do you want me to do about it? Our concern is staff safety.» While I understand staff safety should be one of their primary concerns, I think customer safety should be valued. Oh and there’s the thought of helping another human being? I guess this was a good example of the bystander effect e.g. do nothing but watch.

I’ve been to this new Gap location a handful of times. The layout of the store is strange, you have to navigate your way around a lot of turns to see all that is in stock. The customer service is below average here. The checkout sales team is not nearly as helpful as what you would expect from the Gap. The last time I was in, there was one checkout and a long line– I waited over 5 minutes before another clerk opened a checkout and the line was still moving terribly slow– after 10 minutes myself and two other shoppers put our merchandise down and walked out of the store. I’ve always had good experiences at other Gap locations, including the close by N Michigan Ave location, but this store needs better management.

Whoever designed this store should find another line of work. The space is a huge box so it’s not like Gap was working with a difficult layout. Somehow they figured out how to put the fitting rooms in the most inconvenient location possible (i.e., the doors open right into people shopping) and merchandise the product in the least logical way (e.g., basic t-​shirts seem to be in a dozen different places).
I’m wondering if this store is a showroom for the website since trying to buy something here is such an awful experience.

I was headed to do some shopping on State street and was surprised to see a Gap in the old, Old Navy store.
It has been remodeled. Men, women, and athletic-​ware is on the ground floor;
Kids and clothes for those ‘with-​child’ are on the second floor.
Overly staff.
Very light on options and stock in the women’s dept. Boo.
I understand it is still new and they need to work out the kinks.
I am looking forward to shopping at this store.

It’s a Gap. You know the drill.
This one took over the Old Navy spot on State Street (which moved up the street in the former Border’s), which was a huge space. Having a Gap in the Loop again is a long time coming. There used to be a Gap in Three First National Plaza in the 90s but nothing since. I never understood why it closed because it always seemed busy. I don’t buy a ton of stuff at The Gap but it’s a moderately-​priced option for basics and they’re always emailing me coupons. I like having it close in case I need to something at a moment’s notice, but I never pay full price for this stuff. Plus, it seems like people in my office are all having babies at an alarming rate (I guess I’ll be sure and stay away from the water at work!) so it’s nice to have a nearby option to pick up a baby gift. I will say that The Gap has some way cute (if over-​priced) clothes for kids and babies.
Frankly, I expected more. This one is only two stories and the escalator going to the third level is blocked off by a wall. The first floor is women’s and men’s clothes. The second floor is babies’, children’s, and maternity. I didn’t see a whole lot of accessories, no GapBody, and not a lot of clothing that I consider work-​appropriate. I swear by the «True Straight» premium pants but I couldn’t find them here. Maybe I just need to look harder but it was crowded in here and I didn’t feel like tripping over anyone.
Employees were friendly and helpful, which is the norm for a grand opening. Then it eventually turns to shit.
And for those of you wondering, the Old Navy Preacher with the megaphone is still front and center, who won’t hesitate to tell you you’re heading straight to hell.
