GH takes a totally different approach to weight loss & working out and I am a huge fan! GH does not encourage high-intensity, high-octane workouts. Instead, the trainers(I tend to think of them more like life coaches) focus on incorporating fitness & healthy living into your everyday life. They emphasize a combination of cardio and strength training that leaves you feeling wobbly(in the best way possible) without feeling like you’ve just torn up every muscle in your body. They also look at your eating habits and help you to make better choices about what you put in your body. They understand that everyone approaches food in a different way(ie the ‘emotional eater’ vs the ‘I don’t really care what I eat’ eater) and they work with you to figure out how to make changes to your eating habits that you’ll be able to keep for longer than a few weeks. I never felt ashamed or embarrassed to say ‘Well, I had a burger and fries with my friends last night’. They understand that most people can’t change everything about the way they eat overnight, and they’re totally willing to work with you to come up with a plan that you’ll be able to follow. I love that GH is different from a typical gym. Their studio is bright and open and as a woman, I really appreciate that there are not a bunch of giant sweaty guys in the corner, lifting weights and grunting & yelling. I’d go so far as to say it’s probably the most tranquil gym I’ve ever been to, yet I still feel inspired to work out when I’m there. Overall I think it’s a great place and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is not necessarily a fan of more traditional gyms.

My first impression of GH was really great. The medium sized facility is bright, clean and well-appointed. The location is good, right off the blue line and a few buses. All the staff I saw seemed really focused and super motivational. I met with Leslie who was interested in what I had to say and offered smart and helpful advice. She was really chill, friendly without being over the top. I would definitely recommend her as a cool and smart trainer. The other trainers I can remember observing were Kim and Peter. Both seemed to be excellent trainers. Kim seemed so serene, while Peter seemed like a ball of positive energy. They all had such totally different vibes, but I could tell they all knew what they were doing and really enjoyed their jobs. Overall, I think that this is a great personal training gym, BUT it is suuuuuper pricey so be ready to drop a few bills.

I went to GH Fitness in March of 2009 after trying to lose baby weight on my one for the past year to no avail. I got a complimentary session with Peter and decided to sign up. What I found in Peter was not only a personal trainer but a friend. He helped me look at my diet and identify how I could eat healthier and started me on a strength training program that really worked! He challenged me and kept me on track with text messages and emails. After three weeks the pounds started melting off! 27 lbs later I can say that it was well worth the money and time I put into working out! Thanks Peter and GH Fitness for helping me get into the best shape of my life!

Even though they’ve already gotten a BUNCH of great reviews, I need to chime in! I started training with GH Fitness back in 2007 a few months before my wedding. I thought that I would be able to work out and get in better shape myself– but after a few months of making excuses and never going to the gym– I decided to modify our«wedding budget» and add a line for some personal training for myself. It was the best decision! I met Peter for a complimentary session and signed up on the spot. I started training only 3 months before my wedding and got great results! He gave me easy ideas for changing my diet too. I continued training with Peter throughout my pregnancy– he was able to modify exercises as needed and get me moving. I trained with him until I was almost 34 weeks pregnant and only stopped then because my doctor wanted me to relax because of pre-term contractions. I credit my relatively«easy» pregnancy on continuing to stay active and having someone guide me through exercising while pregnant. After my son was born and I got the all-clear from the doctor, I started training with Peter again– only 2 times a week– but it worked(again) and I dropped all of the pregnancy weight(and then some– I’m back to my wedding weight). I’m still training almost 11 months after my son was born and don’t regret one cent that I’ve spent on getting myself in great shape! I recommend GH and Peter to all of my friends!
