The food was amazing and was the best thing I have ever tasted. Sadly nothing in LA competes with this place. I would honesty come back to Chicago just for this place’s food if I could afford it. The wait time was horrendous but was definitely worth it.

Good service and was expecting amazing pizza since it’s been voted one of the best pizza joints in chicago but was a little disappointed that this pizza place is not as amazing as I expected it to be, at least they gave good service and clean restrooms but expected more from the food…

5 solid stars… If you want Chicago deep dish pizza you have some choices, and several are great, but this joint is legit! I ordered the mini deep dish as I’m traveling alone, and I walked away pleasantly stuffed! Chicago Fire spicy sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms… fab! Crispy crust and flavorful toppings made this visit great, and of course paired with several local«suds» favorites rounded out the visit. Steve is running the joint and made a longtime customer of me. Ask for him, he is a down to earth personable person. Ambiance is Garden apt neighborhood bar, and prices are in line be with expectations. This joint was on the list before there was one!

This is the second time I have been here. What can I say? I am a sucker for good pizza! After craving good Chicago deep dish all year they did not disappoint. We started our meal with their spinach mozzarella sticks and a ice cold pint of one of the many craft beers they have on tap. We placed our pizza order and were told it would be 40 minutes(was expected– you can’t rush a work of edible art). Pizza came less than 30 minutes later and was fantastic.(Tried their new spicy sausage pizza with roasted peppers and red onions) Three different craft beers later two fat guys were unable to polish off a medium pie, ao I brought two slices back to my hotel room! So, good food, friendly and good service(our waitress checked on us often) and the price was quite reasonable even with the ungodly local sales tax that is just over 10%!!! I am already looking forward to coming back the next time I am in town.

I love the pizza at Gino’s East… let’s start with that. We ordered a ½ Spinach(my favorite!) and ½ Chicago Fire Deep Dish. It was YUMMY. That’s the good. The only good at this visit. We had terrible service. Drinks went unrefilled and we were left to ourselves despite being one of just a few tables taken. The Coke was clearly running out of syrup and had a funky taste. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip was okay but it was served with what tasted like crisped stale bread. Overall, I’d say stick to the pizza and go to a different location.

Zero stars since I order often and this will probably be the last time the girl behind the counter was a complete bitch when telling me it would be a 10 minute wait. Since I ordered online and it told me What time to be here I got here at that time. When I stated that the time was 622 she gave me huge attitude and said that’s not always accurate very bitchy. No apology no explanation no customer service. Happy about your job much? Maybe not. Not getting my business again. Maybe you can hire some friendly employees to interact with customers because she should not be the face of your company.

So my wife and I came here and ordered a pizza 45 minutes prior to our arrival. By the time we got here our pizza was ready after we were seated. You can’t go wrong here if you are craving deep dish pizza. The cornmeal based crust is crunchy, slightly sweet and perfectly compliments the thick layers of cheese and pepperoni(extra pepperoni is always advised). Also there are awesome portraits of actors and actresses on canvas throughout the venue and the service was top notch. The perfect way to eat before getting on a flight to avoid bad, overpriced airplane food. I can’t wait to come back!

Sadly, I have forgotten the secret location of my favorite Gino’s East(seems like it was somewhere by Loyola U, I don’t know because my old Impala used to drive there automatically whenever I was within 30 miles of Chicago), but I will never forget my love of GE. Lately I have been going to Higgins since I’ve been a shuttle service for my son flying in & out of O’Hare. You can go with other reviewer’s «opinions,» but I have scientifically tested(;-)) most of the major Chicago Deep Dish joints and I have *proven* Gino’s East is the best, especially the Legend. Great sauce, great sausage, smokey flavor. I could eat there everyday if it weren’t for the 6 hour commute, and the traffic(mostly the traffic, I’m not willing to risk my life on the Dan Ryan for that much pizza).

I reached there at 9:29 and the guy says sorry, we close at 9:30 so can’t help you. : —( I guess that tells me about the service I was about to receive. Not going there again.

It’s good Gino’s East is very good. I like their deep dish sausage pizza and their chopped salad. The wait staff was very nice and our kid’s enjoying have a simple family dinner there.

Ginos East has a pretty decent Happy Hour special. I came on a Friday evening after work with coworkers and really enjoyed what they had to offer. I’m not 100% if their happy hour is every weekday, but I can vouch that they have it on Fridays at least. The bar area has plenty of spots at tables and around the bar to secure a seat. During Happy Hour they offer unlimited FREE thin crust pizza, and this is a great perk in my opinion. I really thought that the thin crust would be very average, but now I consider it to be one of the best thin crust pizzas I’ve had in the Chicagoland area. The drink prices were pretty reasonable for beers and mixed drinks. My margarita was $ 7.50, and I would rate it an 8 on a 10 point scale. Come check out Ginos for some good food, drinks, and moments with coworkers or friends.

was visiting Chicago and decided I needed to have Chicago style pizza. Went to Gino’s east because heard that is a popular place in Chicago. We got the meat pizza. I was kind of disappointed. the crust had no taste and the pizza was a little dry. It might have been because we came late but overall I wasn’t all that impressed.

As my son says, best crust ever! When it comes to deep dish this is my favorite place to go. You can’t go wrong with the sausage patty or the crumble. One of the places I don’t mind driving 40 minutes each way to a couple times a year.

Not great pizza. I expected better from such a «popular» establishment. The appetizers were very basic and tasted like bad bar appetizers. The pizza was not good. Flavorless and dry crush. Unflavored tomato sauce with a little bit of cheese. Also, the service was pretty bad… as in we didn’t really receive any service except when the food was delivered to the table.

I truly believe it is just this location that is bad. I have eaten at a different location that is better before. We were here about a month ago with a Groupon. Failure to read the small print meant we could not use it on a Saturday. We ordered a deep dish Supreme and the new nachos. The nachos came out and the cheese was solidified on the top and cold. We pointed this out to the waiter who said: What do you want me to do about it?” We politely asked for it to be re-heated. They were ok, but there is paper at the bottom of the pizza pan they are in and everything sticks to it so you end up eating paper if you eat the bottom layer. The pizza was overcooked. We returned to this location this sunday — because the groupon was for this location. We ordered the same pizza but ordered the spinach. artichoke dip. The dip was thick and pasty and the bread that came with it seemed more like stale bread than toasted — no toasty color to it, just bone dry. There is no way you can call this deep dish pizza. The bottom layer was a soggy, limp mess, you could not even pick up to eat. If this is deep dish, what is the thin crust? The crust was thinner than a saltine cracker! The crust was 1″ thick by about ¼″ and hard as a rock. Deep dish is supposed to be «bready». — chewy, not crunchy. The pizza sauce is watery and tasteless. Everything just slid right off the slice. Mom still has a $ 20 gift certificate for this location but I am not interested in giving it a third try. I would vote Uno’s or Giordano’s any day or even Lou Malnati’s over Gino’s.

Chicago pizza yes, but only ok. I would not write home about it. Definitely lacking taste and well you just can’t pin point it, but not a great experience. Ok in a pinch, but not a go to place.

During a brief stopover in ORD I decided to offer something very Chicagoan to my colleague: deep dish. As this is one of closest to the airport and I haven’t yet tested Gino’s we went here. Being here the first time, the colleague was frankly rather astonished with offering. So to maximize the effect I chose Meaty Legend… Oh boy, that certainly was meaty! There was so much stuff I could have actually stopped after one slice and not feel especially hungry. Out of six slices we managed to finish five. And that was frankly more than enough… It was not just about quantity though, the pizza was very tasty with bacon nicely complimenting sausage & pepperoni. Is this the best deep dish? Based on my very limited sample of three(Giordano’s, Uno and now this) I would say it is slightly above the rest. Of course it’s not fair to compare meaty legend here with pepperoni pizzas elsewhere. Would I return? Yeah, sure! Though not for a while, it probably takes my system one week to consume all that stuff… Oh and extra points for the beer menu, extremely nice to be able to select a beer flight in a pizza restaurant. I don’t think I’ll ever see that happening back home

When I learned of this mysterious third party in the Chicago deep dish wars, I had to stop by the next time I was in town! We flew in to O’Hare and drove out, so there was no time to sit down. Instead, we called in a pie when we landed and 45 minutes later, I was wolfing down a slice in our rental car. We got the 12″ supreme with sausage, mixed in rather than layered. The sausage was hearty and full of flavour — would definitely recommend! This is not a deep dish heavy on cheese, and there’s a lot of sauce/acid. The crust is pretty crispy, closer to pretzel than dough. The service I did get was helpful and courteous. My rating is unfortunately skewed by my bias — at the end of the day, I’m a Lou’s girl. You want sauce and crunch in your crust? That’s New York pizza to me. However, Gino’s satisfied my deep dish craving. Until next time, Chicago!

Friendly service and the awesome Chicago-style pizza I adore. Had a meeting near this Gino’s location last week and stopped by with the parents for an early dinner — mainly to avoid rush hour traffic back to the western suburbs. I had a small deep dish with cheese, sausage and pepperoni and it was great. I left kicking myself for eating so much at lunch. But on the plus side, delicious leftovers. The parents got a large supreme thin crust and were very happy with that as well. Would for sure head back — Gino’s is perfect for when this Denver girl needs a Chicago fix.

You can’t visit Chi town and not make a stop at one of their famous pizza joints, especially one that makes the traditional deep dish pie. Gino’s East fits that bill just right. The atmosphere is relaxed. Our waiter was a bit edgy, but nice enough. The price was a bit on the high side, even for the city($ 28 for a large deep dish), but it won’t break you. Parking was adequate. And, the location is convenient. A large deep dish pizza will feed six to eight adults. I particularly liked their selection of craft beers(you gotta try the 312 on draft). After a couple of mozzarella sticks, one deep dish slice, and a point of 312 I had no room for dessert. So, I can’t comment on that part of the menu. All in all, a nice place to enjoy a hearty meal and a good drink. I do wish the prices were a little more budget friendly. But, it’s worth the occasional trip, especially if you bring a group and split the bill.
