This place looks like it opened up in 70s, and has never been cleaned since it opened. The food was nothing special IMO, just another mediocre Chinese joint.

Looks like they went out of business which sucks for me because I loved the Chinese food here.

They are closing down for good after this month only a week left! After october 31, 2014 this place will shut down after 25 long years of excellent service. I practically grew up eating chinese food here. So sad to see them go. So whether your new to this restaurant, or and old time customer like me, come enjoy their food one last time. :)

Been coming here for dang near 20years! Food is consistent. My hubby and I have tried most everything on the menu. All good, all good quality. Great egg rolls and Polynesian beef(meat on a stick) :-D

Haven’t been here since my last review over a year ago, but I found myself here twice in just over a week. This is a good place to hide since it’s pretty quiet and relaxed. Nice because(my) kids can’t always sit quietly with their hands folded until the food comes. Not that I expect them to, I remember being a kid. No one here is going to give you the stink eye if the kids get excited and forget about their indoor voice or if they really like peeking over the tall booths to see what other diners are eating. Most action stays by the front door with people grabbing takeout orders. While my tastes tend to prefer Thai, Korean and other flavors over(American) Chinese, I think the food here is pretty good. You get a ton as well. I noticed drink prices have gone up a little. It’s now $ 4.55 for tropical drinks, $ 3.05-$ 3.25 for cocktails. Not a deal-breaker, and this is a hole in the wall, but with the(minuscule) price hike it would be nice if the torn booths could be repaired instead of taped over, if the graffiti in the bathroom could be buffed and if the holiday décor could come down for part of the year. No, I take that back, I like it just as it is.

Tried Golden Crown for lunch while I was in the area today. Big, tasty portions served hot and quick. Staff was friendly and the dining area full of happy customers. I was surprised how big the place was inside; a million years ago this was a fried chicken place but it looks like its been added onto in the back. There were a whole lot more tables than I ever would have expected otherwise. One thing I didn’t catch on the menu until later(while reading the flyer I grabbed on the way out), is that they offer a lunchtime combination special(which I assume includes smaller portions) for about half the price I paid today for the same items on the regular menu. Sure I had some to take home but in hindsight, I would have ordered the smaller portion and finished it all in the restaurant. So keep that in mind if you’re there at lunchtime — the«regular» menu items are big enough for 2 – 3 people but if you’re there by yourself, just get the lunchtime combo.

I had not tried this place before until recently, I ordered for pick up a mongolian beef lunch special and it was really disappointing it was just a pool of idk what, with meat just in it I had to throw it away it was that bad. I wouldn’t order from this place again

Ordered to go, waited in line but when I finally received my food it was good. Everything was tasty wish the place was not run down it smells funny in there that’s why I order out.

This is a wonderful place, I have been going here for years. Great beef sticks for appetizers and my favorite dish is the bbq pork fried rice with the beef w/oyster sauce. The orange chicken last time I had it tasted a bit too crispy, but the beef here is delicious. Sure there is a language barrier, but it’s a Chinese resturant… what do you expect? We always get great service here and it’s really a bargain. This is one of the many hidden gems in Chicago.

Ordered to go, i was just driving by and I was tempted, drawn in, lured, manipulated, contorted, ravaged, beaten, mamed, destroyed, reincarnated. Okay maybe not all of those things but i went in on a whim just minutes before they closed, placed an order from my car after dialing the number on the wall. The veggie egg roll was an example of heavenly perfection and the shrimp fried rice was absolutely splendid. Nine dollars and some change and I still have some rice left over for breakfast tomorrow: totally the opposite of losing – all the way bro.

I have been going here for about 16 years now and always always always hot excellent food at an outstanding price. I have dined in plenty of times and the staff is always friendly and prompt. I moved all the way East in Chicago and would always travel West for Chinese food, I won’t go anywhere else.

Great take out option… fast, hot, and plenty of food for your buck. Waited 7 – 8 minutes and only paid $ 8.00 for about two pounds of Hunan Mixed Vegetables and steamed rice. Plenty of veg(broccoli, carrots, mushroom, peppers, onions, etc.) and the rice was cooked perfectly. Definitely my go-to take-out when I’m in this sketchy ass neighborhood…

Oh how I love this place by far one of the best Chinese places I have ever encountered. Food is always fresh to order never over cooked or stale! I constantly order take out from here I always get my sweet and sour chicken with a combination fried rice with a nice crisp egg roll and I can’t forget the crab Rangoon!!! Just full of deliciousness!(not sure if that’s a word lol) I have dined in on several occasions the service isn’t the greatest due to small language barrier but can’t really complain food makes up for it! Needs some major upholstery work to make everything look better but majority of the time I just take it to go! I’ve faithfully been coming here for 4 years and will continue to come for the next 4!!!

Oh Golden Crown… can you move to my side of the city? If you are looking for yummy Chinese that is not greasy and gross, come here. Best egg rolls ever!

This is some good Chinese food. The egg rolls are the BEST! They also have this thing called foiled wrap chicken that I can not stop eating! They are like 6 little pieces of REALLY tender chicken that are seasoned then cooked in foil. It sounds weird, but you really should try it! It is unique to this restaurant. And best of all they are still pretty cheap for the quality. The dinner for 2 is awesome because its only $ 20 and it really feeds 3 people. It comes with 2 egg rolls, 2 soups, 6 foil chicken, 1 pepper tomatoe beef, 1 sweet and sour chicken, and a mountain of shrimp fried rice. That’s a whole lot of goodness people!

ONEOFTHEBEST! I grew up in the area and then it wasn’t until i moved to the north suburbs that i learned to appreciate this place more! i haven’t been here in about 8 years when my aunt and i decided to re-live our childhood moments and head over to this place! and it definitely did not disappoint us! Our usual order consists of the best… won ton soup with bbq pork, the AMAZING and THEBEST egg rolls… the pot stickers(we call it doughy goodness!)…and HAPPYFAMILY(vegetables, bbq pork, chicken, shrimp, and beef in a delicious brown sauce). The taste of their food has not changed over the years which is so great!!! Another great menu choice is their Shrimp egg foo yung!!! The service isn’t 5 star but maybe a 3 or 4 but I totally recommend this place!!! Obviously!!! Hope you’ll enjoy as much as I did when i was 3 or now that im 22! Haha. I actually think we’re gonna be having dinner here tonight =)

Food is decent. You can definately get better in Chinatown, but for the neighborhood that this place is located in, the food is ok. It’s also very affordable– one of the reasons why my family of 6 visits here when we are in the mood for Chinese. They really do need to update the décor. It’s dark and outdated inside. The wall décor is tacky and tasteless.

Pretty decent food. Not a lot of veg options on the menu, but they let us order off the menu(Kung pao bean curd, for example). Service was obviously good as well. They have some tiki drinks here too, and cheap, but no bar, so you kind of have to atleast order an appetizer or something or it’d be weird.
