Go earlier so you don’t stand on a long line freezing your ass. Great place to go with a group of friends. Great fun music, BIG cocktails. Girls night out? Ohhh yes, you will have fun

Like many people here, someone from my group won a party and I decided to go and check it out. I had never gone to a piano bar and I play the piano myself, so I was also curious to experience the atmosphere and music. The appetizers were average — cubed cheeses, mac n cheese, hot dogs, and pulled pork. But it was free, so infinite value! The coat check downstairs charged $ 3 but many people put their coats on chairs. The entire venue was packed, with over a dozen of these«winning» parties taking place simultaneously. The volume was extremely loud, so besides not being able to talk to anyone and losing your hearing, there was also no possibility of any musical expression by the artists. And for the most part, the songs were performed too fast, with little passion. I would have liked to hear a few more lyrical songs(I’m sure some were requested…) to give our ears a break, and to give the performers a chance to show a different side of themselves. I could see that they were talented, and I was impressed that they could satisfy that many requests in succession. I recommend that you get close and watch them play — the loudness won’t blur out their fingers!

I was excited to go to my first dueling piano bar and was not disappointed one bit! Howl at the Moon was a unique experience and we will come back each time we visit Chicago. The place is clean, the staff very attentive and friendly, and the lemon martini was refreshing. I had a smile on my face the whole night, watching the talented musicians really get into the songs. There were six or eight people who rotated through an assortment of instruments, including the two pianos, electric guitars, a harmonica, an electric violin, drums, and even a couple of instruments I don’t even know the name of. They encouraged the crowd to sing along to the songs everyone knew and loved. For a night of refreshing fun, a lighthearted atmosphere, and fun songs to sing along with, you need to come to Howl at the Moon!

I go to Howl at the Moon quite a bit and most recently went to their New Year’s Eve part last night. I always know that I’ll be in for a good time when I go to Howl and last night was no different. The appetizer bar was hearty, with delicious caprese skewers, breaded shrimp, spring rolls, meatballs, and more, perfect for a heavy drinking night out. The bartenders were constantly smiling, friendly, and super efficient. I didn’t wait more than a minute or two for a drink on what I’d assume is the busiest night of the year. Amazing service all around. The pianists were incredible as always and my group and I had a blast singing and dancing along with the music. Those guys are so talented and impressive and you will not be let down for a second by the entertainment at Howl. If you’re looking for a fun night out on the town in the heart of Chicago, make sure that Howl at the Moon is one of your stops!

Terrible appetizers! These guys need to do themselves a favor and try the pretzel at Public House before they serve another overly dry pretzel to another guest. The pretzels aren’t fresh, they’re frozen. Such a joke. Quesadillas are served without chicken. Really?! For $ 9 I would expect chicken to be thrown in, which is pretty standard, even at Taco Bell. $ 10 cover for a Saturday… Much better places in Chicago that charge cover. Arrive early(come at 7p on Saturday’s). Place gets packed full of suburbanites and out-of-towners. Overall, not coming back.

$ 10 cover charge on a Saturday that we went. $ 3 coat check Restroom upstairs. Coat Check downstairs. 2 pianos, people were able to dance on the stage. Very Very packed place. They had tables and seating but it was so packed we could only stand. It gets very hot in here. They sell those buckets of mixed drinks. We got the Hurricane and barely tasted any liquor. Maybe its a creeper with that 151 in there… We got a stamp when we got in so we hung out for a bit and left to go across the street. Came back around 1ish and it was so much better. More roomy and we were able to kind of jump and dance around. We were able to get a table next to the dance floor too! Fun crowd but realllyyyyyy crowded!

I won a happy hour party, and I’m glad I did because it gave me a chance to check it out without having to pay a cover. I’m not sure that I’d pay a cover to come here. For the happy hour party, it was free admission from 5 – 7, a free appetizer bar, 2 $ 1 drink tickets, and $ 4 drinks(after your first two) until 9pm. They were strict about the free admission, which I can’t blame them for, though they apparently gave my friend some attitude when she showed up at 7:30 and asked if she could get the free admission. The appetizer bar was okay. Some cubed fruit and cheese, some dryish pulled pork sandwiches, and some hot mac ‘n’ cheese. I somehow dropped my 2 drink tickets between getting them and getting to my table, and they were nice enough to replace them since it was clear I wasn’t trying to take advantage of the system. The drink specials are small, though, about half the size of a normal cocktail glass, so it’s not quite as big of a deal as you think going in. The music was good, though nothing really special, and they repeated quite a few songs throughout the night. There were people up on stage dancing, which was fun, though there were some people I’d rather not watch them dance, but that’s just what you get in a club. The ‘regular’ drinks were quite pricey. They have fishbowls, though they call them something else, which were fairly reasonable although they were super sweet. One tip: get there early. I got there at 5pm(as they were opening), and was able to save two tables for my group. The place was completely full by the time the show started(at 6pm), and there were lots of people standing without tables as the night went on. Our waitress was pretty good, though a little nonexistent at times, and the bartenders were pretty nice. It was a fun experience, for sure, but not sure that it would be worth it to me to pay the cover and pay for expensive drinks. I’d been to a similar type bar in Milwaukee that was more ‘interactive,’ so I think comparing Howl to that I like the other one a bit better, hence my just ‘okay’ review.

Came here for a happy hour party on a Sunday with $ 1 drinks and complimentary appetizers(pulled pork, Mac and cheese, hot dog, cheese tray and fresh fruit. This place is great! Plenty of tables for sitting if you get there early. More like a piano bar– They have live music every night and you can sing along if you like. They take song requests, I was really impressed with some of the songs they were able to play. It was a really good time. We ordered the drink bucket $ 28 and it was pretty good. Come early to avoid a long line.

This place is sick! I’ve been to a few live music bars but nothing like this before. There are about 5 musicians who take turns playing different instruments and singing live from a queue of song requests. They are all so talented and have a way of pumping up the crowd. Great for drinking and dancing with a group of friends. Tip: there’s a $ 5 cover

The first time I came, I had a really terrible experience. I was charged cover(wtfish?), bought 1 drink at the bar which made me incredibly sick(my guess was it was because of the cheap alcohol), and thus I didn’t enjoy my experience. However, my cousin ended up winning a party at HatM so I went for that. The second time around was MUCH better. Because I was there with a group there was no cover. I ordered one drink and it didn’t make me sick! And I was able to actually enjoy the performers. The individuals that performed that night were simply amazing. I’d probably come back, but it will probably only be if someone I know wins a party.

So much fun! The artists are quite talented, not only singing and playing the piano, but drums and guitars as well! At one point in the evening there were 5 people on stage playing instruments amd singing. For a donation they do shout outs for birthdays and other events going on, last night someone was having a hysterectomy! At times people hopped up on stage to sing and dance… I can’t explain how hysterical it was! People of all ages come here. a great place to sing and dance.
