Took my boyfriend to I/O for brunch today(a Sunday). Arrived at 12:05 was seated quickly, the hostess was nice and asked if it was ok that we were in the sun, it was a beautiful but hot day, we were ok with the table. It was at the 20 min range that we started to talk about leaving because NOONE came to greet us or say Hi be right with you, nothing… So about 12:30 our server Finally came by to see if we needed anything to drink we said we were ok with water and then we ordered our food. Even the hostess came out to see if anyone had stopped by yet. I felt so rushed ordering, like if we didn’t order fast enough she would run off! Another table next to us was a bigger party and our server was excited to see them, as time went on it was obvious that one of the guys worked there. There was a parade of servers bar tenders and chef’s that stopped by the table to say hello and deliver food and drinks. She stopped by their table to be sure they had what they needed meanwhile never stopped to check on us. Our food took a long time to come out and my dish came out before my boyfriends. I had to try to catch our server on one of her moch one speed walks past our table to ask about his food, I felt as though we were such an inconvenience to her. A while later his dish came out and again no one came to see if we needed anything or if the food was good. The food… not that good I have had way better food for half the cost, I expected better especially for the price and the pretentious atmosphere we were in. As we are baking in the sun… waiting and waiting we decided to get a drink… SO we sit and WAIT and again had to flag her down as shes running past us to wait on the other table of people she knows again I felt like I was bothering her… We waited about 20 mins for drinks! Yet again we wanted to leave but of course couldn’t find our server to say forget the drinks and bring the bill. She brings the drinks and takes off as fast as possible. when we could finally get her again we asked for the check… then we WAIT again for the bill 25 mins later we get the bill and can FINALLY leave. Moral of the story TERRIBLE service, not worth the wait, food was underwhelming. Take your money and time elsewhere…

Better than I expected but way more club-like than I anticipated. Food and drink-wise, everything was good or really good. The rooftop is really nice too, but on the 4th floor, so it’s not like sky high views. Service was very nice. It IS like stepping into an elevated club for the young 30 year olds who actually have decent money to spend, the nice wardrobe to match, and want to keep clubbing but not get bogged down by the immature 20-year-olds who can’t do it properly. The venue is posh so if you’re a gal and not wearing heels, you may feel a little too casual. For an elevated evening this might be nice, but clubbing was never really my thing…

Went to this location to have a beverage 4th floor at night when it gets dark unbelievable view of Chicago skyline. Service was better than average. People seem to be very nice. But again the nicest thing was the unbelievable view!

Mmmmmm well I loved when I walked in they told me that I had to pay a $ 60 cover. For real, all my girlfriends got in for free. Birthday party. Never said that we had to pay. So ride at the door. Horrible bartenders and crowded to the point you can’t even get a drink. Ugh this place was something else. cheap people that think they have money hahah

I love this place. The rooftop is gorgeous and the staff are very nice. Yes, it is super pretentious, but come on, that is totally part of the fun. Drinks are expensive buy you are paying for ambiance and MYGOD, the white sangria tastes like it was made by baby angels. I love this place!!!

Food was great and so was the view. Initial service was lacking as it took about 15 minutes for someone to even take our drink order. Finally Ashley stopped by, apologized for the delay and the service was great from there. We arrived at 11:00 am and maybe they were initially short staffed. Two drinks were comped for our troubles. Thanks Ashley and we will be back.

I officially hate this place. My amazing and favorite Manolo Blahnik white pumps got stuck in the wood floor separations at a work event and totally ruined my heels. I am absolutely devastated and am not sure what to do — cobbler maybe? I nearly tripped about 3x as well. Who puts wood planks with huge spaces in between them on an outdoor patio that is usually rented out for events? Other than that the Diet Pepsi tasted like fizzy water. It was gross! They do get a star for the mini sliders, they were pretty tasty. Also good view.

Gorgeous space! Lots of different areas for parties. Staff was professional and quick during our job’s happy hour event on the rooftop. I love the modern look and the style of the rooftop! Daytime or nighttime is beautiful here. Will definitely be coming back!

Elitism is not who I am. Friend and I visited on Saturday because we liked the elegant interior and clientele at brunch. Nightlife is a paltry story: We stood in line for about 30 minutes and the line never moved after opening time of 11p.m. A few people walked up and tried to get in based on who they knew or if the door person knew them. My friend walked to front of line to find out what was going on and watched the bouncer reject a person because he was out of dress code but a friend walked up and said, «he’s with me» and he got in. No one would tell us why the line wasn’t moving so we left, never to return.

The Godfrey’s is a hit or miss to be honest. You can go and have the greatest time ever or you can go and wonder if you ended up on some reality TV series that should be on Bravo because of the amount of plastic in the room… if you know what I mean. Then again, that could be good people watching. Not had a drink there recently, despite visiting recently but I have loved the mojitos in the summertime in the past. It can have pretty good music too. The scene from the rooftop is decent but it’s by no means the best in the city. I also don’t think it’s worth the long lines I often see outside. Pro-tip: make friends with the doormen and bouncers. Anyway like I said, sometimes it’s great, and sometimes you leave after 30 minutes because you just might not be feeling the crowd.

One of the best rooftops in the city and conveniently located down the street from me. Place offers indoor and outdoor tables. The view is something out of a magazine(other than the irksome WCIU billboard). Staff is also great. Cruz, who works the door, is professional and serene even during busy nights. Bartenders are quick and efficient as well. I recommend starting early as a line begins to form towards the late evening.

The rooftop of the hotel is nice but it isn’t like fabulous. The good thing about this place is the music. The night I went there the DJ was playing electro/dance type of music, super cool. I also liked the outside area, it is nice to chat with friends. Besides that, there isn’t anything that called my attention.

Solid rooftop bar for after work drinks. The inside space is gorgeous and the outside is spacious and has a pretty good view of the city. I am always a fan of the music they play here and you can’t beat the happy hour wine menu. I’ve been here a few times now and will definitely be coming back after work throughout the summer.

I came here on a Sunday for a birthday party/. It was a blast. The sun was shining, the babes were out and life was good. I can see how this place might suck on a weekend, especially at night. It is probably packed with idiots and frat like behavior. But come here on a Sunday, get bottle service and get lit. you’ll love it ;-)

My scale: 5 Stars: I recommend this without any exceptions. I will come back(more than once) and bring friends! 4 Stars: I recommend this under certain circumstances. Worth going, but ONE thing was off. 3 Stars: I was ok, but in a city like Chicago you can find better places. I wouldn’t come back. 2 Stars: Disappointed. I wouldn’t come back, even if it was the last place in Chicago. 1 Star: Don’t go here! Rip-off, Tourist-trap, dangerous, or something like this. Please close this place. I am not gonna lie, this is one of the places I bring my friends when they visit me. The view is great, the interior is very relaxing and open and you can go here when it rains, because they can close the roof within a couple of seconds. I always had friendly service and the events are really fun, too. The only thing that is a little off are the drinks. The cocktails are just not very well done. The recipes are just not very creative and the classics taste ok… just ok. So, this is a wine place for me now. I am definitely coming back and bringing friends… and order wine.

I’ve been to the Godfrey a few times and I’m definitely a fan. It’s one of the few rooftops in Chicago and actually has a decent view. The place has a pretty cool ambiance to it and is nice to sit and lounge when there’s not a huge crowd. The drinks there are expensive and although they hype up the chef and bar cocktails they aren’t always that good. Come here if you are looking for a nice view and if you want to avoid the crowds come early for happy hour or a Sunday because otherwise this place is always packed or hard to get into.

Though not as tall a roof top bar as one of the other well known bars in Chicago, IO Godfrey definitely makes up for that with its fun environment. There is music, the bartenders work fast, the crowd is good, and the view is still beautiful at that altitude. It’s not a cocktail driven bar so you won’t find crafted cocktails on the menu. I noticed they had some good beers on the menu though, so there’s an upside there. Just expect to wait in line, as this is one of the go to bars in the area. Overall, it was a decent place to enjoy one last night in Chicago.

This is a review for the rooftop bar for a private event. — WOW! What a great place to throw a party. The view, the openness, the layout and just décor of the rooftop bar is top notch. Really its the one thing you can depend on here. the rest not so much. Service was like pulling teeth. Practically had to argue with the bartender for a drink, as even flattery didn’t work. If you have an event here with heavy hors d’oeuvres be sure to specify additional servers at the beginning of the event, with a big first push of food to keep attendees happy. But if you want to make an impression — this is a great place to throw a party. Food/drinks: 4⁄5 Service: 2⁄5 Venue: 5⁄5

Of the 3 – 4 times I came here, I visited during the AM and the PM. Wow, what a contrast. One thing that doesn’t change is the view — gorgeous! The food, drinks, prices, and attentiveness of the staff fluctuate between the hours and the tables(as you might imagine). Not much else to say except ritzy, and pretty nicely developed lounge area. The key is, «dress to impress» as well as «stay at the Godfrey and skip the lines» — especially if you’re here at night. You’re welcome!

Come here and get a Smoked Daley. I tried this cocktail here last weekend and I can’t wait to go back for another. It’s vodka, smoked lemonade and a black ice wine tea infusion. The black ice melts as you sip. It was perfect on a hot afternoon. This whole place is great for an afternoon or sunset cocktail. You’re on the fourth floor so you see an interesting view of the surrounding buildings. Everyone loves to go up to the Signature Lounge for a great view but it’s nice to be closer to earth sometimes. You feel like you’re still in the city and you can still feel it’s pulse. The food here is pretty good too. We had the beet salad and the charcoal-grilled octopus. I could’ve eaten both plates all by myself. The octopus was perfectly cooked and the beets were fresh and flavorful. I|O is a bit pricey so it won’t become an everyday haunt for me but I know I’ll be back for another perfect concoction soon. It’s a really nice place to unwind after a long day.
