Super authentic Thai food, the chef definitely knows what he’s doing and was genuinely interested in having us enjoy our food. The ingredients were top notch and the flavor profile is what you would expect to find if you were actually in Thailand. Don’t come here hoping to order what you always order at a Thai restaurant, this place excels when you come in to try something new. Have an adventure! Music: not sure how to describe, kind of a Thai jazz fusion. I liked it! Atmosphere: loved the wall art, cute little story to go along with it; I also appreciate that there wasn’t a TV in site as I feel they’re way to distracting while I eat Service: the staff helped us try the various dishes they were serving that day, the chef went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves Final note: try the tea

Decided to give them another chance after reading reviews on LTH. They have improved since the openning. I’d suggest checking out their Facebook page before going for the daily menu as it is mainly when they have stuff that you can’t find elsewher that this place becomes interesting. For example the Gaeng Tae Poe(pork belly curry with on choy) is worth trying even though it costs extra. I also had the Pad Prik Nor Mai Gai Sub, Pad Kra Prao, and Boat Noodles. Still I think the food suffers from sitting in trays too long, though maybe that is OK when they are busy.

This is why you eat local. Warm and personable hosts — one guy took us on a tour through the som tum bar and gave us samples, as well as a Thai pronunciation lesson. Same model as Panda Express(1 – 3 entrees, on rice or noodles, buffet-style choices) but authentic and the flavors were unbelievable — so many curries, fish sauces, spices, herbs. I had a beef dish cooked with cinnamon, among multiple other spices. Another employee was so warm and constantly checked in on us, and topped off our amazing meal — perfectly portioned, reasonably priced — with some free fried bananas for dessert. Great atmosphere, friendly experience, unbelievable flavors(I thought I’d had real Thai food before… I was wrong). The menu changes every day, and each item is a labor of love. I can’t wait to come back.

I had a Thai friend take me here as I usually order pad Thai from any Thai place I order from. I was honestly not sure if I would like«authentic Thai food» as much as I loved the Americanized version of it! But the owners were so nice they actually let me sample every single item off of the buffet and explained what makes each dish unique and special. I actually did not find anything way too spicy or «funky» but there are definitely some dishes like their panang curry that will be more familiar to non-Thai people. I settled on Gang Tae Poe(sour curry with pork and morning glory) and Gaeng Kee curry(Kee lek’s leaves and flowers with grill pork) and both were so delicious. Honestly, as a native southerner, it all very much took me back to comfort food of the south. I had my dishes served over rice but you can have brown rice or noodles and for me the portion size was ample and what I would expect for the price($ 9.50)(I definitely had leftovers and I have a healthy appetite!) This will definitely be a go-to place for us! oh, and, they take credit card now!

This place caught my eye immediately. I don’t like that people are saying that this is a Panda Express for Thai food, it’s not. As someone FROM Thailand, this food is exactly what you get from honest, home style, street venders!!! –which is very different from a cheap and over commercialized Panda Express, not even the same. The service was wonderful, and the people were very lovely and inviting. The food was a bit on the pricy side, but you are paying for quality, and trust me, authentic ingredients(not substitutes) ARE pricy, and that’s the problem with many local Thai restaurants, they use substitutes. I will definitely drop in again! :3 –Nong June

Returned for the second time. Considerably better. Heeded an advice from another Unilocaler about getting 3 dishes combo. Serving size has improved. I asked the staff member to cut down the sugar in my pad thai. It was delicious. Definitely a place to go to for authentic Thai food. They should still need to translate their menu to english. Can’t wait to try other dishes on the menu.

So I went this past weekend with some really good friends, one of them is Thai(as I wanted to get the opinion from a non farang). Once you walk in you see the som tum bar, which was really impressive. They have about 10 different variations of this salad(one of my favorite dishes). Then you get to the main area where they have 8 – 10 dishes. As I saw a previous review state the food servings are small, I decided to ask how much you get. It is 2 scoops from the serving spoon for each entrée. Since its $ 8 for 1 entrée, $ 9.50 for 2, and $ 11 for 3 entrees, we went with the 3. Otherwise you’re really just paying lots for some rice. We ended up each getting a drink. Two thai coffees and one chrysanthemum tea. My coffee was perfect, not too sweet but enough sweetened condensed milk. Plus shaved ice instead of cubes. We got three dishes and shared them family style. 1. Som Tum(the 2nd one on their menu, with crab) 2. Pad Thai with shrimp 3. 3 entrée platter(Kobocha squash, the egg and pork belly dish, catfish) The Som Tum was great, but I think I prefer the small(preserved) shrimp and peanuts compared to the crab as it was mostly shell. I’ll order it again. The Pad Thai was the real deal, not the version that is too wet(they were Hæng/ ). I was impressed because I know the effort my friend goes through when she decides to make the dish). Finally the entrée plate. I’d get the squash and cat fish again. The egg dish was okay but nothing great for me… I’m going back to try more dishes.

My friend and I heard of this new Thai cuisine from one of our mutual friends and decided to check out this place in Argyle. Being that it’s very new, I was going in with a more forgiving mindset figuring that they may not have certain choices on the menu available, their processes aren’t fully streamlined yet, etc. Their concept to serve Thai street food on a bed of rice is what sets this place apart from the other Thai cuisine, bit they do offer more traditional Thai fare as well. The food served was delicious and certainly tasted authentic(their panang curry pork especially), but the street food portions were rather small considering how much we were paying, and(right now) it’s cash only, making it less likely for me to come check it out another time. If they made it so that they only sold small size portions(without the rice as an option), that may be more ideal since I would be willing to try and sample more dishes rather than try to make a meal out of it by adding the rice. Either way, I will probably check this place out in a few months and hopefully will have a better experience then.

Cash Only. I ordered from the pre made cafeteria style dishes. Had a pumpkin and egg stir fry and a ground pork dish that had no gravy. Both were good. The pork dish in particular was very flavorful in a way only Thai food can be! I would go back here and I would recommend it to anyone who loves Thai food. And I’m not talking about someone who just loves ‘pad thai’. The flavors here will run quite a bit deeper. So if you’re a fan of the the spicy, sour, salty, pungent elements of Thai food, it’s worth checking out. My only critique/suggestion currently(this is a brand new place) is that they step up their condiments game. They had a small table with condiments for the restaurant and it contain only a bottle of siracha sauce and a jar of Prik Nam Pla, but all the chilis were gone from it. I thought the food was really flavorful, but I hope they step up the condiments game. I would recommend anyone to try it out!

In what used to be Thai Avenue’s space has opened a welcome unique addition to Broadway & Argyle’s restaurant row. I stopped in today after seeing their soft launch open sign and within 5 minutes was back out the door with a pretty tasty and satisfying lunch. Imm Thai sets itself apart from other Thai restaurants in that its menu is mostly«street food» fare. I don’t want to give a bogus explanation of what that means, but based on today’s selection think protein-rich, hearty meats and curries served over rice or alongside steamed cellophane noodles. Simple yet flavorful stuff(no pad thai here). You can order 1, 2, or 3 entrees(like at Panda Express, someone dishes up your food from a hot bar for you… similar too to Uni-Mart in Edgewater that serves Filipino food, except that’s more so a grocery store) and then pick your starch(white or brown rice, or white khanom jeen rice flour noodles). The menu is written on the chalkboard wall behind the food and the staff. No hard copy menus, but I imagine they’ll have some when they officially open for normal business hours. I tried the palo(eggs and pork cooked in spices and gravy), a dish whose name I can’t remember that had scrambled egg, sliced sweet potato, and fish sauce, and sweet stir-fried pork. All were very flavorful and fresh. Unfortunately the food was a little lukewarm(even right from the time they served it to me, and I only ate it a few minutes later), besides the rice which was steaming. I was a little surprised they only gave me one egg as part of my palo serving. Only other criticism is of the container they served my food in — by the end of eating(within 20 minutes after taking it to go), it was so soggy on the bottom that I don’t know what I would have done had I had leftovers. Very friendly staff! Note that it is cash only. Cathay bank across the street charges $ 2 for withdrawal. All in all a good experience and I look forward to supporting them after the official opening!

«Immm»(which means«I’m full» in Thai) is new restaurant to hit Little Vietnam. I went for lunch on their third day of opening. There are several kinks to work out but Immm shows much promise. I spent two months visiting my family in Thailand earlier this year. I was excited to see a Thai restaurant that serves street food. That’s all I ate. At Immm, you won’t find any of the crab rangoon, miso soup or dragon rolls BS. This is only Thai food. Immm is a self-serve restaurant. Almost. When you walk in, start at the front of the«food bar». You can choose food from it or order off the menu. If you do the latter, the wait staff will bring it to your table. Like Chipotle, you have to clean after yourself. Their menu is extensive, ranging from classic noodle dishes to regional and street food favorites. I had Khao Soi, which is a popular noodle dish in Northern Thailand made with egg noodles, vegetables in a coconut milk broth. I also ordered Som Tom(papaya salad). They have a «Som Tom”-making station near the register. Immm had Pa Lo(a Chinese-Thai dish my mother makes), Yen Ta Fo(a very hard to find noodle soup in pink broth), Penang(Red Curry), Larb Moo(Pork Salad) and others. If you love noodles and curry, I highly suggest getting the Khanom Jin. They’ll top rice noodles with your choice of curry. It’s delicious! A word of warning, Immm is not vegetarian-friendly. Not yet, anyway. They’re going to expand their vegetarian options come the New Year. They are accommodating and they will happily substitute meat for tofu but nearly every dish will contain fish sauce or shrimp paste. Som Tom can be made without fish sauce and it’s pretty spot on. If you order from the menu, be mindful that Thai food takes time to prepare. Immm isn’t Panda Express. If you know anything about Thai food, it has a lot of ingredients. If I want Thai food in a hurry, I’ll go to my neighborhood restaurant where everything has already been prepared. The service is quite friendly and the prices are very reasonable. I was happy to see many Thai people eating at the restaurant. That rarely happens. I honestly can’t wait to come back with my family and friends. I don’t have to travel all the way to Thailand for simple, almost home-cooked meal. Immm is Thai-approved.

Authentic? Yes! Cheap? Not so much. I welcome the addition of Immm in Chicago that’s situated perfectly next to Tank Noodle. There’re many dishes you typically found in Thailand such as Khao Soi(northern Thailand curry noodle), dried penang curry, larb kua salad. So far, I was impressed with the choices of food you could find at Immm. What’s not very nice is the portion they served you. As a skinny person, I am used to tiny portion of food but what’s served in Immm is rather miniscule. For my 2 course dish, the«pa lo» dish came as ONE piece of pork belly(in the size of 1 inch x 0.5 inch belly), one egg and one tofu. The other dish as a part of the 2 course dish came as ~6 small pieces of pork meat; which is rather generous as opposed to the pa lo dish. I ended up feeling hungry after lunch. Suggestion to Immm’s management: please serve us slightly more food so that we won’t leave the restaurant with hangriness(hunger and angry).
