3 stars for location and ambiance, because the food is terrible. Can’t comment on drinks because I had to go to work after lunch. The good: located right on the riverwalk this all-patio dining area is great for people-watching with plenty of heaters and a big fire pit, a must on a cool November afternoon. The patio itself is styled like a fishing pier with pine planks, rope fencing, and the like. The bad: no fish at a nautically-themed restaurant? No matter, it’s Chicago so I had a kālua pork sandwich, which had some of the tough-yet-fattiest pork I’ve ever seen. It came with peppery bacon, which is good, but not right for this sandwich. It was soggy, anyway. Potato salad was ok, can’t do too much wrong with that, and there was a Louisiana-style hot sauce to go with it. Soda came in a plastic bottle. Finally, the price wasn’t what was published in the menu. Something’s a bit off about this place.

Nice quiet spot to have a drink and take in the river scenery. Decent selection of tropical drinks and some quick bites. Picnic bench seating is a little rough but good enough if you don’t plan on sitting long.

Great food with a low key atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff/owners. They make an out of towner feel at home! Nice alternative to the higher maintenance places in the area. And it’s on the river!

Great menu even better drinks, just need WAITSTAFF! Crazy long line for bartender and nobody to take food order. Will not deter us from coming back again…

Three of us had lunch here. We all ordered something different, and each of our meals was fantastic! My veggie wrap was the best and freshest and most flavorful that I’ve ever had. I’m not a vegetarian, but will be coming back for this again! Service was excellent, and the restaurant is on a really nice part of the river – not too noisy, plenty of shade, not too bustling. You have the peacefulness of moving water without the crazy shouting and other noxious noises you get farther west. I brought my husband back for dinner, and there was a musical duo. Unfortunately, it was much too amplified for our tastes. We like music, but not blasting in our ears so loud that conversation is impossible, so we went elsewhere. If you like that decibel level(and lots of people must, since so many restaurants blast music) then don’t let it keep you away. As for me, I’ll be back for lunch.

Great island barbecue, tropical drinks, and Island Music right on the Chicago river. If you like Jimmy Buffet you will love Island Hut.

You gotta go here! What a great, fun place. The perfect spot to view the water, boats, and people. A new upbeat location in Chicago. This river walk is the best place to relax, laugh, and enjoy island cocktails or any other liquid libation, great freshly grilled seafood, fish, burgers. Themed parties, a large group was having a Gilligan Island Party. U can even catch a tiki hut boat ride.

Wonderful place with great drinks, friendly staff and dog friendly. If my dog had a choice she would stay here all day.
