How genius is it that a bar sets up a game of bags INSIDE the bar?! I think it’s pretty genius. I’m reticent to tell you all this because when I go there on Fridays, I want to play, and there’s only space for one set. But, I’m feeling bighearted today, so I’ll share. My buddy and I went for lunch and split the nachos and chicken fingers. Nachos were the«special» at half-price, only $ 4. It was a huge order, but also looks better from a distance. Toppings were very skim, probably because it was the«special». So… NOT special. I like their chicken fingers quite a bit. Other food is decent, don’t expect too much, and it’s best to stick to simple things. It’s a bar. I’d say it’s a pretty legit lunch if I can play bags, watch the PGA Championship while also watching some ribbon gymnastics dancers at the Olympics dance around and through their twirling ribbons all over. No seriously though, it was actually really impressive, Olympic sport no, but impressive. I think I may take it up actually. AND, I ate for free! I bet my buddy lunch over our bags mini-tournament and beat him 2 – 0 on best of three games. Boooyahhhh!!! Rated this a 4, but then I remembered that the service sucks sometimes. Totally depends on who you get, but it’s mostly good. I go back.

After much debate to go to lunch with a group from work we finally decided on Jummy Figs, mostly because it was the only place we could get a table during the lunch hour rush. We were the only table the entire hour we were there so you would think we would great service since it was not in the least bit busy… think again. It started off okay but all went downhill once our food arrived. 3 out of the 4 orders were wrong, my sandwich was cold(after waiting FOREVER for the food to come out) and not very good either. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich which is usually a safe bet for bar food but there was nothing buffalo about this sandwich and the chicken was tough. The waitress never refilled my water and and was no where to be found most of the time. Once the bill finally came we had to split it with credit cards since most of us were out of cash, we wrote out very clearly how to split it up…15 minites later she comes back with the rec for us to sign which were correct. Not the best experience but easy to brush off… come to find out that night we were all charged multiple times on our credit cards, all of the amounts being ABOVE what we signed for. The waitress not only was horrible at what she did but scammed us as well. I will never go back and suggest to stay away… there is a reason I now see why the place was empty.

A couple of tips and tricks for supposed new management: 1. If you are going to dub yourself a «sports bar» be aware of major sporting events that could affect your business and plan your staffing accordingly. 2. If your spot is being slammed by unexpected business(first day of March Madness…) don’t sit behind the bar eating your lunch. Get up and help your staff. Run drinks, run food, BUSTABLES, jump in the kitchen and start expediting orders, etc, etc. Basically, HELPOUT! 3. Teach your floor staff that they should never walk to or from a table empty handed. If they are on their way to take an order, run some drinks to another table. If they just took an order and are heading back to enter it in, grab some empty glasses or dishes from another table. Never be empty handed. 4. Fire your«chef». Go down to Kendall and hire a recent graduate to revamp your menu. The stuff on your current menu is not that hard to make palatable. Please do so. 5. Get some more TVs. I would love to try this place out again(this was actually my second time here). But man, everything was soooooo bad that it is highly doubtful we will ever be back. It’s pretty sad though because the space is nice. It has a lot of potential. Just look at some of the other bar spots around that area. Primebar, Sidebar, etc. They are packed every day. Get some good food in the joint and you will be booming. You have a decent beer list. Get a good chef in the joint to make some better food. That’s all. Good luck! Hope to see some changes.

Came here with my office at 5:30pm on a Wednesday. It was quiet but there were reserved signs on many tables in the front. We were seated at a group of tables in the back, worked out nicely. We had pitchers of beer and some food was ordered, though I left without eating. Not sure how busy this place gets on other days, but any place a group of us from work can get a seat works great for me. The space is interesting. If you are in the back, look for the old phone booth up on the second floor, with no stairs to get to it!

We didn’t have a particularly great time here, but it’s close to my work, so there’s a good chance I’ll find myself at Jimmy Fig’s again, unfortunately. I was here with a group of co-workers after our work Christmas party. Since it’s right downtown, it does seem like it caters to the young business crowd. It was pretty crowded when we first got there around 6 p.m., but we were able to snag some tables for our group of about 20. The décor is pub-like with plenty of TVs and a jukebox. There are tables and booths and stools surrounding the bar. Drinks were pretty pricy at Jimmy Fig’s, though I don’t remember exactly how much they were. It is in the Loop, so you have to expect to pay more. Our waitress wasn’t very good. For example, my husband had ordered a Jack and Coke, and after a couple rounds she brought out a drink that was supposed to be a Jack and Coke, but when he tasted it, he knew that it wasn’t. «I don’t know what this is, but I know it’s not Jack,» my husband said. «I watched the bartender pour it,» the waitress said. «I’m not drinking it,» my husband said, and she rolled her eyes and left with the drink. It seemed like the staff was trying to pull one over on us since we’d been drinking, which isn’t cool. And the waitress flat out lied to us about watching the bartender pour it. Also not cool. I really have no intentions to go back to Jimmy Fig’s, but if people from work felt inclined to go there, I would probably go. I just feel like there have to be better options in the Loop for after-work drinks that don’t include shady wait staff.

Came in here to grab a drink and some food and watch Monday Night Football. I ordered a Manhattan and was asked if I wanted the dinner menu. I said yes. Minutes later, the charming bartender came back, apologizing profusely as the kitchen was evidently closed. It’s a bit odd to close the kitchen for Monday Night Football, in my opinion, but I’ll say that the bartender seemed sincerely sorry for the situation. Still, I got myself a $ 4 Jim Beam Manhattan, which is pretty damn cheap where I come from. A-OK.

What a great hidden gem downtown. I don’t eat/drink down here a lot, I wandered in and was very pleasantly surprised! Great beer selection and better than average bar food. Way to go Jimmy!!!

I don’t find myself visiting bars in the loop often. All the ones I’ve seen fall into two categories: the nose in the air uppity attitude of liquid lounges and your beer drinking nacho eating sports bar. Jimmy Figs falls into latter. The good news is they had Goose Island Matilda on tap which put a smile on my face. Hooray beer! The bad news is everything else at the bar. The service was an abomination. Half of what was ordered received a ‘I’m not sure if we have that I’ll have to check” reply from the waitress. The food was rubbish from their loaded nachos which became soggy in seconds to the tri-colored chips served with salsa. Red tortilla chips? Really? How about some flavor to go along with that red dye? I know I’m being picky here. It’s a bar in the loop and not a gourmet dining experience. I get it. Still, I wish these places would step it up and serve something decent from the kitchen. Just because I’m having a beer after work and hungry doesn’t mean I’m willing to settle for tasteless food. Jimmy Figs fits the stereotype for the bar in the loop. My recommendation is to head around the corner and visit Monks for some post work suds.

This place was disappointing, ordered the hamburger and took 20 minutes to come out. The flavor was lacking and it felt like they pan fried the thing instead of grilling it. Overall service was slow and it felt a bit grungy…

Pretty disappointing. They have a lot of TVs, but they’re all old school boxes with low resolution that makes it hard to read scores of sporting events. The food was mediocre at best. I had a hamburger that was totally generic. The fries were pretty good, but not enough to make up for the lack of anything good going on with the burger. Drinks after work? Sure. Drinks and a meal during a game? No way.

I’ve lived around the corner for a few months now, and my roommate and I decided we wanted to try some place new for lunch today. We gave it a shot and were pretty disappointed. The bartender was friendly and attentive although the pace of our meal still managed to be infuriatingly slow. Luckily neither one of us were in any sort of hurry. From the atmosphere to the quality of the food, this place just comes off as being completely lackluster and apathetic. For starters, I would be shocked if any of the food was actually fresh. We ordered the quesadilla appetizer, which wasn’t terrible(although how hard would you have to try to mess up melting cheese in a tortilla?), but it took far too long to come out. After waiting no less than 20 minutes, I would have at least expected the tortilla to be nice and browned and crispy, but it was only lukewarm and displayed zero signs of having been toasted. I ordered the cycle salad, and my roommate got the buffalo chicken sandwich. The salad was okay, though the hard-boiled egg on top was badly overcooked. The bun on my roommate’s sandwich had not been toasted, was literally cement-hard, and she thought the chicken tasted like it was old. When she asked for lettuce and tomato for her sandwich, she only got a small slice of tomato and a tiny sad-looking piece of wilted lettuce. Maybe this is a decent after-work spot, but even the drink specials advertised didn’t seem at all unique or enticing. As far as I saw, there wasn’t one reason I would readily recommend this place considering all of the great alternatives nearby. And honestly, if you can’t properly hard-boil an egg(or at least hire someone who can), you have no business running a kitchen.

Its a decent bar — been there a few times for the Eurex exchange’s service provider for a pretty cool get together. Food is decent: fairly decent quality slyders, wings aren’t too bad, and the usual veggie spread. Drinks are well mixed up and an okay selection of beer. Fairly roomy, bar is arranged sorta like the fictitious Cheers tavern, bathrooms seems to be clean and fairly modern. Wait staff were okay. Still hungry? There’s a Pockets 2 blocks away on Lake, and a few other greasy spoon joints within the block. I’ll go there for the exchange meet & greet, but not sure if I would go there with friends… quality being okay but prices a bit high. You like to sing? There’s Karaōke!!!

I’m told that this is a pretty good after work spot, compared to the elitism of other bars in the Loop, but during a recent trip after work, I really didn’t see what was notable about the place. Standards sports fare on TV(which is really boring when there’s nothing but ESPN talk shows without the sound), limited beer selection(the«non-mainstream» beers on tap are Guinness, Bass, and Blue Moon, to name a few), and notably high prices(the difference between a $ 4 and $ 5 beer is that $ 10 gets you two beers and two tips if the draft costs $ 4). For the atmosphere and selection, the prices aren’t really justifiable. Also, just a note if anyone from the bar reads this, it’s not really a good idea to have one of the few signs of your establishment’s names out front to be a piece of paper that says something like, «Will no longer be open on Mondays.» A few from our group said that that was the only way they knew that that was the spot to meet.

This place is unspeakably dull. Why would anyone want to go to – let alone frequent – a drab bar with a handful of boring beers and dreadful food? Oh I know. Jimmy Figg’s parades their servers around in the skimpiest of clothing to confuse the modern consumer into thinking it a Loop hotspot. Pay no mind to the man behind the curtain! Look at the juggs and tail! But I am a man of iron resolve. Temptations of the flesh will not sway me. I am here to Unilocal and, damnit, that’s what I’m going to do. First up, food. Nary a menu item compels you to say,“I gues I wouldn’t mind that.” Bad offerings all around. I gave in and ordered a panini. The hot sandwich world of which Panini is a mighty continent bustles with melted cheeses and warm meats everywhere you look. This panini must’ve been ostracized because it was cold on the inside, slightly toasted on the outside, and disappointing all around. I get it Mr. Fig: You’re not trying to pull down any stars from Michelin. Could you at least gimme an okay hot sandwich? After choking down my sandwich, I noted the beer selection just isn’t very good. Again, I’m not in the hunt for some rarefied hops steeped in unicorn tears, but would it kill you to offer up a couple beers that Budweiser and Miller don’t mass produce? I guess I did have a Negra Modelo. That was okay. I just wanted more. The ambiance is anodyne and the service wasn’t very swift – likely because it takes twice the time to deliver an order when droves of customers are ogling/slapping/drooling over one’s rump. Or maybe we just got a lax server. I don’t know. It’s not really important. Me and Mr. Fig are on the outs, and I doubt he will mind not seeing me again. Peace, Jimbo.

Jimmy Fig’s is just mediocre. Nothing really to complain about, but nothing to rave about either. I was able to grab a spot at the bar with some co-workers after work last week so I was happy. I got my beer and I was set. Service was pretty good and the bathrooms were clean for a bar. I do also like the many TV’s and screens projecting sports and what not. Too bad they are all mainly located in the front part of the space. Service is great if Amy is your waitress. She’s super nice and friendly and took good care of my group. It seemed to get really crowded after work on Friday, but not overly crowded as there was space to move around. Around 7pm or so, things start to clear up and you’ll find some breathing room. Overall, Jimmy Fig’s is a nice place to head to after work and before catching a train home.

I gotta say, I never thought I would be writing a semi-positive review of this place. I went here fully expecting to hate it, especially after seeing the reviews. I assume the comments on slow service and so forth are accurate, but I went here on a Wednesday, and the place was not crowded at all. I give the place 3 stars because I had the best time doing karaōke here, apparently they do it every Wednesday. The owner did some too and he can sing. He gave us a round on the house, because we were doing so much karaōke. So, I’m biased, yes, got a free drink, but overall it was a lot of fun, and the owner was a really nice guy. The reason I don’t give more than 3 stars — I had some chile, pretty mediocre, but the chicken wings were good. Not really into the hoochie momma theme either. That whole deal is just sort of tacky. I don’t mind a bit of cleavage, but come on. .. So, besides having a good time with the karaōke, and the owner being very cool, there is not much else to write home about.

I never knew about this place until my boyfriend asked me to meet him. It’s not too far from home so I was game. Yes, this is a union bar mixed in with some«ties». It is pretty lively mid-week to Friday. I really appreciate how well I am treated by the bartenders. They are always very pleasant and friendly to me. In fact everyone has always been very courteous and the guys offer up their seats. I never paid attention to what we were paying for my drinks, I just learned it is $ 10 a glass for cabernet. I thought it was a bit much but hey, it’s the city. I’ve never eaten here so I can’t help there. Overall I enjoy stopping in for a few and will continue to do so. PS, their washrooms are very clean which is really important.

Jimmy Figgs is a great little place for lunch or drinks after work. The food is moderately priced and quite tasty. A group of us stopped in for lunch the other day and the service was pretty decent, the wait staff was attentive. Burgers seemed to be the general fair for lunch, but they also have some huge quesadillas and I had a chicken ceasar wrap that was really tasty. I would disagree with the assessment that you can’t take female coworkers here, unless you’re some slobbering oaf unable to contain himself around a pretty girl… while I cannot remember the previous name of the place, it formerly had a Harley Davidson theme to it and the wait staff could barely speak English and geared themselves toward using their bodies to get their tips, under the new name and management it was much less intimidating to the general female population and there were quite a few woman in there eating as well… it’s by no means a Hooters type environment. I will likely stop in again for lunch, or for drinks after work, the atmosphere was great and we were even able to watch the Cubs game during our lunch.

So, I’ve been here now four times, and I thought to myself, why haven’t I written a review yet. Oh yeah, cause I can’t remember my times at this joint. I guess that’s what multiple shots and beers will do to ya. It also doesn’t help that I ran into a fellow Unilocaler here one night. The food is average at best. The service is nothing to write home about. I suggest going to the bar to get your drinks. Also, the mixed drinks just look plain funky here. Like they don’t know how to make them. Order one, I dare you. There must be karaōke on Wednesday nights because there is a lovely video of me singing like there was no tomorrow. Would I go out of my way for this place? No, but it makes for great embarrassing moments with your co-workers.
