I must have driven past this place a thousand times but I’m happy I decided to finally stop in. I had an excellent experience the first time in and have since returned. They really do cook to order, and burgers and dogs is where they do shine. Philly steak sandwiches are also great as well as Doritos nachos, delicious! Good food on western is up for debate, but this place does things right.

I should’ve know crap would happen. GO in to pick up my wings and they don’t have large Styrofoam cups of bbq sauce because they’re outta lids. Tell me I can get 4 or 5 small containers of bbq sauce but want over $ 2. Now if I had put sauce in small cups myself then free but if counter person did $ 2.and some change ad opposed to $ 1 that they normally carge for large styrofoam cup of more odering for me. Great value and my first visit was enjoyable. The have different $ 5 daily specials during the week. They only have can pop. I travel with a mason jar of water and wasn’t able to get a refill here. I was walking to fill up in the bathroom, when he graciously handed me a bottle of cold water and surprised me some free fries too, even though I didn’t want a meal. I snacked on a few of the crispy fresh cut fries. I’m just not a fan of fresh cut fries, as you rarely find them crispy. Burger was prepared to order and had fresh ingredients atop. WiFi for xfinity customers only and they may have an age appropriate show going, so be ready for an F-bomb or worse coming out of the TV’s. It didn’t offend me, but unusual for a restaurant.

Iv’e just left Jimmys. Been there 3 times. Iv’e asked for one request every time… cook my fries hard!!! Not a difficult request. You would think it would get done. This is their achilles heel. They just can’t get it right! I ordered a Gyro meal, with easy Gyro sauce. they got that part right. It was even on the ticket. But the fries being cooked hard, that function wasn’t on the register. Of course, my fries were very soggy! How hard is it to cook fries until they’re crispy? Needless to say, I will never go back and will instruct my Foodie friends to do the same! If I can’t get get them to give me what I ask for, why should I trade with them?

Went in this place a few times since they took it over from Capt. Hooks and the food is far less quality. On top of that the customer service stinks. The cashier ask me if I wanted the taco special, I said yes, she ask would you like Chicken, steak or beef, I responded 2 steak, 1 chicken. She responded you can only have 1 category all together because it’s all in portions. Wait what? I was like just give me a chicken gyro, her response was we don’t have chicken gyros. Ok let me have 20 shrimp, we only have 18 pieces, but you can get a Philly chesse steak and we could put it on a pita, that’s the same as a chicken gyro… What? So freaking DUMB… I just left!!! Idiots

This place popped up to take the mantle of Captain Hook’s Fish and Chicken. Ironically, the last time I stepped foot in the building before Jimmy’s takeover was to buy a tray of overcooked fried chicken in the middle of the snowstorm that blanketed Chicago during the Superbowl. I must say that the business change was certainly for the better. I love, love LOVE their Angus Steak Burger. The meat is juicy, the burger is pretty large and the special sauce gives the burger an added dose of flavor that doesn’t overcompensate for anything. The fries are pretty good, too. The staff was always attentive and while I found myself waiting a little longer than I cared to, the food has always been perfect, and I hope this place sticks around for a long time to come. The Chicago Sports arenas on the walls are a pretty nice touch.

What is it a crime to love food and go from high end fare like lobster and crab and ten be just as enthralled by Americana like burgers?! Hell to the no. Unless your some elitist scum without an appreciation for the diversity that is rife in Chicagoland, who doesn’t bother to venture out of your sterile enclave, you will enjoy this place. Apparently this used to be an IHOP. Now it’s not. Hmmm. Now it’s a sports themed little haven with a street rep that was entirely positive: I asked several people outside if this place was good, they all agreed,“very.“ So I walked in. The first thing I saw was a very animated older black woman cleaning and talking to customers. She had the type of disposition most of us have after that third cup of coffee when you need that stiff kick in the pants. We’ll call her«Nola.» Super friendly and courteous. Next I saw the menu, which for a new place was very extensive on the type of foods that one would find at a friend’s house«watching the game.» Burger, pizza, wings. Done. Aaaah, but not so fast! How about we find a dozen ways to prep each of those? The menu above the main register looks like it was taken from one of those urban places with bullet proof glass shields and turntable food delivery practices to keep the staff from catching a bullet or a knife in some part of their body. So, yeah, kinda déjà vu, but you’ll stand there and just wonder what the hell do you really want, it’s that much. I chose the«Godfather»: generous portion of Italian beef, cheeses, spicy peppers. It came on a great buttered bun, accompanied by house cut shoestring fries, and can of fizzy drink of my choice. The fries had the skin on and might have been better a little warmer than how they were served, but I ate almost every one. Nola offered me my drink before and then had the staff bring me some sauces for my meal, she even asked me how the bathroom was — «Clean!» I mean who does all that?! We’ve all been there, gone to a favorite haunt only to find that the restroom looked like port-a-pottie five hours after a chili cook-off. Wretch! No, not today, Nola saw to that. Sat down and waited for my order. Had sports and Chicago team memorabilia strewn all over the seating area. Nice modern fixtures and good size TVs to zone out while that food is coming up. Saw another patron order wings. Monster wings that looked more off a turkey than the fowl we’re used to in the hood — anemic dwarven Ethiopian chickens. Not here. But my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I got my sandwich and enjoyed every bite while watching some dude on TV get his Lakers jacket from the 70s appraised by some bald dude. Left a happy customer. Will return when I’m in the neck of the woods. Will ask for hot, fresh fries. Good luck to this place, hope it doesn’t slip like the other spots by the same owner. Yes, it’s part of a mini-chain. Don’t feck it up, guys!

I read that Jimmy’s is operated by a guy in the area, and we decided to give it a try. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean. The burgers were pretty good — I had the jalapeño. But Jimmy’s, my 5-year-old son says he never wants to go back because there was a scary movie playing on the TV(it was actually one of the scary movie spoofs, and on network television, so I know it wasn’t intentional). And I’ll confess, I really would have preferred something OTHER than fast food … so if you have another restaurant concept in mind, open that too! But we’ll probably end up going again because you’re in the neighborhood.
