Sadly Joe’s has been closed for a couple days short of a month now. If you’re considering coming here call first before coming to verify if they’ve reopened or not. Joe and his family are some really great people and I hope all is well with them. Thank you Joe and family for the great food and the very friendly service. Your dream of owning a hot dog place made my reality a much more wonderful place. If this wonderful little place reopens I’ll make sure and update my review to share the good news with everybody. Note to Joe and his family in case you’ve read this. Thank you so much for the great memories of wonderful flavors and friendly interactions with you folks. If you have in fact closed this place down and at some point in the future ever do open another hot dog place please do feel free to contact me via Unilocal and let me know where I can go to pig out on some Joe’s dogs and burgers. I don’t care where it is, as long as it’s someplace I can get to on the CTA I’ll be there with bells on!!! Best wishes.

I think sadly they have closed down. I get my eyebrows done by Beena next door. It was closed Saturday before mothers day, it was also closed yesterday no note on the door & website down. This is so odd as Joe and his wife were the most down to earth people and care about there business and customers hope they are ok seems odd for them not to give there customers any information. :(

Thought I already wrote a review, but I guess I haven’t. This is my favorite hot dog in Chicagoland. The only dog better is at Ohio University’s Ol’ Betty. Great people working here, too. SUPERCHEAP. I think Joe should charge DOUBLE for this delicous dawg

Family owned small biz, local, cheap AND delicious. After my hubby read the reviews, we decided to check out Joe’s JJJ Dawg Ranch on a Tuesday afternoon for a late lunch. SOGLADWEDID! We shared a Joe’s Dog, and the Sonora dog. Both were outstanding! I even ordered some chili cheese fries, and the owner recommended that we get a side of cheese and chili to save us some money because fries come with every dog! It was obvious from the minute we walked in that the owner cared about his product, cared about us as customers and had a passion for delicious food. Some added perks: free parking(in a strip mall), very clean, and super affordable. I’m telling ya… 2 filling dogs, an enormous amount of fries, and 2 drinks cost us $ 10. Then put some stellar customer service on top of that! Love me some Joe’s JJJ Dawg Ranch. We’re your new loyal locals.

I just got done eating my meal from Joe’s and I can say I am a fan. As most of the reviews have stated before me the fries are good. The hot dog itself has everything you look for in a dog. I saw the guy creating it, and he looked like he was placing foie gras on a plate at a 4-star restaurant. What I mean to say is these guys care about the product they are putting out, and that is clear. The owner chatted me up about things, he was very friendly, but not in a pushy way. They are about to have their 1 year anniversary, and I hope that is the first of many anniversaries to come I will definitely be back to try their other offerings.

As authentic as you can get. The owner worked for ~40 years and decided it was time to retire and open a hot dog stand. He and his wife are super friendly(we talked for a while during my first visit) and clearly take pride in this place. The hot dog was great, and the fresh-cut fries(I’m sorry, but if you’re going to indulge, best to have the real deal) were awesome. Best of all, that + drink for only $ 3.85 or so. Can’t beat that, right? Joe also offered me a sample of his chili/coleslaw concoction. I didn’t think it would work, but wow was it good! Next time I’m in, I’ll definitely add this to my dog.

Joe and his wife are some of the nicest people I’ve met in this area, first time I ordered(on Grubhub) I pulled into the stripmall and Joe was coming from his car and said«Hi Russ!» I seriously thought it was somebody I knew, but nope he figured I was the one who ordered takeout. Ten minutes later I’m back at home, turned on some Netflix, and 30 seconds after that I’m already in withdrawl after devouring that Joe Dawg. Holy crap, Joe is a genius putting coleslaw, sport peppers, and chili on a hot dog. Perfect combination of meat, cumin, spices, creaminess, and crunch. The chedda burger was delicious as well, but if you’re a fan of hot dogs you must get 2 or 3 of the Joe Dawgs. Fries are spectacular as well, especially with chili and or cheese on them. Feel free to spark up conversation with Joe and his wife, whenever I or my roommate go we always have a good conversation with them, and they’ve thrown in free food as well! Last thing, it’s incredibly cheap. $ 2.75 per Joe Dawg including fries, ridiculous.

Ummm. Yum! The hot dog with Cole slaw and meat sauce called the Joe’s dog is my dog style! Outstanding. Highly recommend.

I visited Joe’s JJJ Dawg Ranch en route to Indian Boundary Park playlot w/my daughters. Easy to get to on California Ave. Parking: easy in this little shopping plaza. The restaurant is bright & clean. The food prep-service counter area was clean and well-kept. Joe and wife were very friendly, personable and attentive. Joe inquired if it was my first visit, we all struck up a friendly chat about food, kids, etc. I ordered(to-go) the hotdog(which is properly dressed Chicago style or however you like) and the«Joe Dog», is dressed w/yellow mustard, coleslaw and hearty beefy chili nicely seasoned with cumin, served on poppyseed buns w/fresh cut fries. Add a fountain drink, I was out the door just shy of 7 $. The food was very good, packed in hotdog shaped«clamshell» takeout containers. I was memorably impressed by the flavor/texture combo of the Joe Dog and wanted more. The hand cut fries were excellent. Next time I’ll eat IN, immediately. Tables & chairs are available. This is really, literally a fine«mom and pop» venture with good hotdogs and fries and excellent service. I felt cared for as I walked out the door. Stop in when you’re in the area, or make a special trip for a few«Joe Dogs».

I LOVE this place. Wolfy’s is down the block, but to be honest I’d rather go here. The owners are suuupppper friendly. Everything is really cheap, and the quality is fantastic.

We ordered lunch from the Dawg Ranch the other day, via Grubhub. Turns out we were their first Grubhub order. The delivery was on time and service friendly. I had the Joe’s Special Hot dog and Mom had the Joe’s Special Burger. I wanted to break my rut of always having a Chicago style dog. I don’t know if I get the correct toppings, but I sure didn’t see any slaw on mine. It looked like straight chili. Mom said the same thing about her burger as well. I did like the fries, and what we both loved was the onion rings. As the Dawg Ranch is very close to home, I will stop in for sure and see if my order was indeed correct. I did enjoy my dog, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting. Update to follow soon!

The burger is good, and the patties are huge. Not only that, the beef tasted great. It’s cheaper than much cheaper than Wolfy’s. Hog dogs are on par. Fries are so-so, fries really aren’t my thing. It’s fresh cut fries. It’s better than Maxwell’s further down the street, but it’s the same as Wolfy’s but it’s cheaper and it comes with fries. They really don’t have combos here, but all sandwiches comes with fries and a drink is only $ 1 if food is purchased. Can’t wait to try the other stuff. Really nice people. Also a parking lot. Usually plenty of parking.

This dog and burger place is really, really great. If you’re looking for grass fed stuffed burgers with foie gras and sriracha foam, you’re in the wrong place. If you’re looking for a great little hole in the wall place that’s clean, incredibly friendly, and with delicious traditional American cuisine, J marks the spot. Based on other Unilocal reviews I had the Joe’s Dog. Now this is no small feat. I’m a hot dog purist with a Brooklynite father. Nothing touches my dogs but bun and mustard. In over a dozen years in the Windy City I have never tried a Chicago dog. The Joe’s Dog is not a Chicago dog but it does have a few toppings. You wouldn’t think that coleslaw and chili work well on a hotdog but brother, you’d be wrong. Joe’s coleslaw recipe was passed down from his mother and he worked long and hard perfecting the chili. The result is nothing short of delicious. My 12 year who is not an adventurous eater at all had a hamburger and absolutely loved it. He tried chili cheese fries for the first time and loved those as well. There are a few other items on the menu besides burgers and dogs but really, I can’t imagine straying too far from their dogs and burgers – they’re just too good. Lastly, the friendliness of Joe and his family is really wonderful. Earnest, welcoming, and very affable, they’re all very concerned that you have a great meal. No question about it. We’ll definitely be back.

Yum! I went with the Joe’s Dog. I would have never tried that combination if it wasn’t for the reviews here. It was good. The toppings were really good and went well together. The fries were very good fresh cut type. Joe and Nancy were really nice. The place is simple with a couple of tables and a long table along one wall. It was clean inside. I look forward to returning. I will get the special again, but I want to also try some of the other items on the menu. The price are reasonable. Again, I will be returning!

We stopped by based on the glowing reviews of other Unilocalers. Let me add my praise so that this place gets the business they deserve! It’s nearly invisible in a strip mall(on the plus side, easy parking.) I had the cheddar burger(mmmm, Merkts!), and my wife had the Joe’s special hot dog(chili and cole slaw sounds weird, but it works!). Both were excellent. The owners were very friendly, Joe talked about how he had perfected the recipe for the dog and had many others he was going to roll out over time. Fries were made fresh(our only quibble: we would have preferred them a little crispier). I agree with other reviewers, going chili-cheese fries is good. Since fries are included with the burgers and dogs, just order the chili and cheese sides, no need for a separate order of fries. So: delicious, crazy cheap, and nice people. Why were we the only people in here on a Saturday afternoon at lunchtime? Show them some love!

My boyfriend and I just passed by Joe’s on the way to the store, and we decided to try it out. My boyfriend was amazed, and we decided to get seconds for dinner. The owner was super friendly and so was his wife and son. The owner recommended the Joe’s Dog, so we decided to try it, and it was surprisingly tasty– a hot dog covered with chili, coleslaw, mustard and onions. ITWASDELICIOUS!!! My boyfriend and I are planning on stopping by every week to devour the most amazing hot dog ever and be surrounded by the most friendliest people!!! We went back a few times after that and tried their Italian Beef, their hamburger and their cheddar burger! They were delicious!!! Highly Recommended!!! :D

Great little place, another welcome addition to a neighborhood where Middle Eastern and Indo/Pak foods have supplanted more traditional American fare. Great Vienna dogs, tried the Italian beef today and it was awesome. Fresh cut fries and a menu simple enough to let you decide without getting a brain hemorrhage. Family owned and run by Joe and his wife, real nice people. The only gripe I have is the fact that it was open for a couple of months before I even noticed it was there… do the neighborhood a favor and get a bigger sign to let people know you’re here. Haven’t tried the Joe’s dog yet, but will next time. Great prices and real friendly atmosphere.

Nothing short of amazing food for amazing prices here at Joe’s. It’s a relatively new place in the neighborhood, the owners being local and some of the sweetest people you will ever meet. The real treasure lies with the Joe’s special hot dog. It’s Joe’s original recipe: a hot dog with mustard, onions, coleslaw & it’s topped with Joe’s chili(or «sauce» as he corrected me you’re supposed to call it: P) Don’t be intimidated, I guarantee it is one of the best hot dogs you will ever eat. Ever since I’ve had this hot dog, I’ve craved it everyday! It’s so good, as are the fresh cut fries(that come free with every order). You can get a hot dog, fries and a drink for 4 dollars. 5 if you want chili cheese fries(which I HIGHLY recommend you do.). Do yourself a favor and try this place out!

$ 2.75 for Joe’s Special Hot Dog & Homemade Fries… EXCELLENT!!! And how did it taste? DELICIOUS!!! Will I go back? ABSOLUTELY!!! Once again, the Joe’s Special Hot Dog is EXCELLENT!!! Homemade chili sauce(no beans) with homemade cole slaw… You HAVE to try it!!!

Growing up between Superdawg and Gene and Jude’s, I’ve certainly eaten more than my share of hot dogs. But, I’m so glad I drove up to Roger’s Park to try this place out. It’s rare to leave a hot dog joint and be surprised(in a good way)– and the Joe’s Dog was definitely a tasty suprise– snappy dog topped with chili, coleslaw, mustard and onions. You’d think it wouldn’t work– it does. It is amazing. I have never had a hot dog like this– and I can’t wait to have another!!! If you go, you must get this(and you should probably consider getting the foot-long… you’re going to thank me). Also, the hand cut fries(which are free when you order a sandwich) rival the best fries I’ve ever had – fresh and perfectly salted. Made better only when topped with chili and cheese!
