Great food, had the gulf shrimp jibarito and it was phenomenal, also a good selection of craft beer which raises the bar! Would highly recommend!

This place is delicious!!! The shrimp mofongo is so flavorful and it comes with plenty of shrimp. I’ve also had the shrimp jibarito and it has also been one of my favorites. The arroz con gandules was also pretty good. To much salt for my liking. The only bad thing about this place is that it takes forever to get your food. They only have one chef and I love that everything is freshly made and you can watch him prepare your food. But the wait is too long. If you are starving order ahead. They need another chef to help this guy out. Otherwise what I have tried so far has been delicious.

We visited this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday with very high expectations of loving their food. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. We ordered two shrimp jibaritos that were cold, we ordered two shrimp tacos that were barely warm at best, an order of tostones that were also Luke warm, but the icing on the cake was the order of wings that still had feathers on them. The service was also mediocre, the football game on their tv was more important than the customers and we were the only patrons in the restaurant! Needless to say I don’t think we will be going back.

So delicious! Music was super hip, they had South Park on the TV. Shrimp Empanada was my favorite! What’s not to love!

Tried this place for the first time with my parents. Excellent food!!! The server was very nice and attentive, every time we completed a dish or ran low on drinks he was right there. Excellent traditional PR dishes and really good creative twist. A bonus that shows the passion at this reasturant, as we were leaving we were asked if we knew of any homeless families or families in a hardship to pass on the word that free food will be offered at their reasturant for Thanksgiving. The owner didn’t ask for any donation, just to pass the word along the neighborhood that they would be open to help provide a warm meal . We were going to coming back for the great food, but now knowing we are eating at a place with integrity makes the food even better.

Looking through the pictures for this place made me a skeptic! If you browser you would to but Joey’s Shrimp House was a great fine. Limited Menu but some great options. The only disappointment was that the rice didn’t have that Puerto Rican flair that I was expecting. It was a little under seasoned but the shrimp made up for that short coming!!!

Went there with a group of eight .and wanted to try their Drinks took 45 minutes to finally get the piña colada they had no liquor and we didn’t order them virgins !!! Half an hour for a glass of water. After waiting an hour for the chuleta can can… and it was horrible no flavor what so ever and under cooked … Were they even Puerto Ricans in the kitchen??? The place was still empty and we still had horrible service !!! This is a public service announcement don’t waste your money people !!!

My expectations were blown away! We were expecting cheap frozen shrimp in a basket. That would have been fine. Instead, we had fresh shrimp that was lightly breaded right in front of us(we were facing the kitchen), and skirt steak mofongo(puerto rican dish). UNBELIEVABLE! I cannot believe how good it was. This place is so good!!! Mango habanero dipping sauce for the shrimp. Great atmosphere. Awesome service. I cannot say enough about this place!!!

Kinda disappointed. I work at the hospital nearby and live in HP and my patients would tell me how much they love this place. The population of my patients is predominantly Puerto Rican so it’s pretty profound when they say you can get an awesome jibarito and mofongo here. People have also raved about the shrimp po’ boy. So in a crunch the family and I ordered. Ready in 15 minutes. Mofongo w shrimp, shrimp po’ boy, popcorn shrimp and fries(for the kids), and hush puppies. We live a few blocks away. The mofongo was cold. I know it’s not supposed to be piping hot but it was not even warm. As if they had some left over tostones and mashed it up. No spices. No chicharron or garlic. The shrimp was ok, some almost undercooked and you could taste that shrimpy taste. Didn’t eat it bc I’m pregnant and didn’t want to get sick. The fries were stale tasting and I usually love freshly cut with the skin on. But these were soooo stale. The hushpuppies weren’t included and the hubby had to drive back to get it. These were actually decent.(This is the star). I liked the shrimp po boy. Spicy. Crunchy. Fresh veg w a crunch on it.(2nd star). But the $ 17 mofongo that was left uneaten subtracted a star. When the hubby called to let them know his order of hush puppies never made it they put him on hold. For several minutes. He then kept calling back and there was a busy signal. They must have left the phone off the hook. And even when he went to go pick up his hushpuppies the phone was STILL off the hook. What service.

WOW, this use to be my place for fried seafood. After today, I don’t think I’d recommend you look at the menu. However, if you’re looking to get grossed out, feel free. I took my brother in law here today(8÷7÷15) for his birthday, we had the works with 2IPA to wash it all down. The food and service was good as usual, but when I stood up to go pay; why did a FATNASTYASSCOCKROACH decide to join us. 5 secs After confirming what it was, I called the waiter over to show him then the owner comes, he looks, and has the waiter kill then ask me what was it… Uhmmm, it was A fucking roach!!! Needless to say he just walked out, I paid the $ 70 tab +$ 13 for the tip cause the server did his job. However the owner just left and disappeared, WTFREALLLLLLLY!!! Compare the video to the wall of the seating, ITSSICK! Thanks for the birthday gift.

I would have never thought I’d get a horrible Puerto Rican jibaritos. I’m so disappointed and if anything they stir fried the arroz!!! I take it the rice was in the fridge and that’s the way they reheated it. Who asks how do you want your jibarito to be cooked? I told him well done. Instead it was medium rare. And chopped like fajitas. I literally took one bite $ 22 lunch gone wrong. Horrible experience. It’s sad to say at one point I really liked this place.

Service was a bit slow, and I only saw 1 waiter. He was nice, the atmosphere was good, and the food was good. The ½ lb of shrimp was delicious, I should have ordered that instead of the mofongo. The mahi mahi tacos were also good. I’d recommend the shrimp and tacos, you’ll get your money’s worth.

A great find! We live really close by and have walked past Joey’s a dozen times. I had the Shrimp Po Boy and my girlfriend had the Shrimp Jibarito. We both really enjoyed our food — the portions are generous, my Po Boy was only $ 7, and the food was surprisingly fresh. The baguette, the fixins and the sauce were all spot-on for my Po Boy. We will be back!

They have a no guns allowed sign posted. I had to walk back to my car to leave my gun unsecured in my car. You have to wonder if they are being forced to put that sign up because they sell more booze then food or if they are anti-American freedom haters with a death wish:-) I wanted some fish tacos. They only had grilled fish. I wanted breaded. I settled on the shimp tacos instead. The place smelled bad when i walked in. The guy handling the money was the guy serving the food without washing his hands! GROSS! The food was not worth the hassle or the money! The shrimp tacos, not so good. They wanted $ 19. For a lobster roll sandwich! Ouch!

This place is very much so open and DELICIOUS. I had never had a jibarito until I found this place and it was a great first time experience. I ordered a shrimp jibarito, and the shrimp was very well seasoned, it had a good crunch to the plaintain and it wasn’t too greasy at all. I also ordered the shrimp empanada which I thoroughly enjoyed. Not sure what kind of sauce is put in it but it was VERY flavorful. Since this was my first time coming here, I also got a banana bread pudding and OMG… Amazing. I have no complaints about this place. I love the menu selection, the service was good, they have drinks available, and vegetarian options. I intend on visiting this place as often as I can.
