Pretty good food. The delivery is usually pretty quick as well.

I’ve never tasted food that was so bad I would just throw it away. Usually, I will look at food and either find something offensive or see an unappealing plate of things that would never touch my tongue. The orange chicken at Kowloon was tricky… it looked MOSTLY picture perfect. The glaze on the chicken was beautiful and glossy. Insert the trick… it was awful! The meat did not taste like chicken, rather something heavy and harshly flavored… it was truly disgusting. The sauce was sweet and bitter… like a sour orange. The rice was lifeless, dull colored and flavorless… except for the lingering taste of an over-used aluminum wok. The redemption was that the young man at the counter: Albeit a bit clueless, he handed me the order in less than 5 minutes and was very nice. He politely tried to explain the differences between the sesame and orange chicken sauces… saying that one was hot. I ordered that one… and it was NOT at all hot. Granny could have eaten… well…spit it out like I did. Try something else on the menu… like a canned soda or a prepackaged fortune cookie, otherwise, go elsewhere.

Used to be my go to Chinese food option. Sadly over the last six months its really declined. In December I ordered for delivery. Said it would be 45 — 60 mins. After an hour and a half the food hadn’t arrived. For 10 minutes I tried to call repeatedly to see how much longer. Finally jumped into the car to pick it up. When I arrived I found no one at the counter and phone ringing off the hook. It took almost 3 mins for someone to come from the back. At this point it’s been almost 2 hours since I placed the order. They apologized, said my food was almost ready. 10 mins more it arrived. They took 10% off. Food wasn’t its usual quality tasting. Hey things happen and I felt one bad incident didn’t warrant putting the«on the do not go to list». I ordered once in January. Took 45 mins on a Friday. Food was good. Then tonight I try to order. Called for 15 mins on and off. Finally on my last call someone answers waits a moment and then just hangs up. What? If they are that busy, hire someone else or tell us when ordering it will be 2+ hours because your swamped and give us the choice. Or get an answering machine that has a message we are extremely busy and what time you’ll be taking the next order at. Not answering the phone isn’t the right option. I called another local place Happy Garden. Oh well.

Consistent, way fast, and way friendly. I’ve been jamming here for five years and this family has been nothing short of solid.

Food was not tasty at all. Very bland. The menu said I would get 15% off my order, but when I called they told me I could only get 10% off. Plus they forgot my fortune cookies. They would not redeliver and said that they could only give them to me on my next order. Well, doesn’t really matter because I won’t be ordering from there again. Very disappointed.

Used to go here back in the day and it was really good. Decided to try it again since I saw the take out menu. I ordered the lunch special, and the quality was on cheap side. I suppose you get what you pay for. The food had a greasy taste, and the chicken was rubbery. I think I’ll find some other place in the area with a more quality flavor and texture.

Get the crab ragoons they are the best! The hot and sour soup was delicious and came in a big bowl. Mongolian Beef was ok but too many onions. Plenty of street parking.

Best delivery Chinese in the Portage park area. I was very impressed. Chicken Lo Mein was some of the best I’ve had outside good sit-down Chinese restaurants. Mongolian Beef was very good, especially considering they offer the«gravy» option. Thanks for defining my problem with most Mongolian beef: I love the gravy that comes on some, but by no means all, Mongolian beef. A lot of my(least favorite) MB experiences have been with dry, overly marinated, over-salty beef with no sauce but the over-marinated, salty beef juice. I know it’s probably less authentic or something, but I love the spicy, favorful gravy that Kowloon offers as an option. Pot stickers were awesome, even though they sent me friend dumplings, rather than the steamed that I had ordered. Egg roll was quite good, might be hand made, and free with my order, which makes it even better.

When we first moved to the city, my boyfriend and I got a craving for Chinese food and happened to find Kowloon 2 blocks from our condo. We decided to try it and are happy that we did. Low sodium, no MSG and pretty big portions. The Mongolian beef is really good, although ask for less onion because there is too much. My boyfriend likes the garlic chicken. We took our friends and family there and they all liked it as well, even my boyfriend’s dad who sometimes gets really sick off of chinese food. When we moved to the suburbs, we would plan stopping in here to get lunch when we would go the area. Very good.

For me Kow Loon is definately one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area. I have yet to be disappointed with anything I’ve ordered. As far as basics go, they have really good pork fried rice, crab rangoon, wonton soup and egg rolls. I like to try new things, but I’ve really enjoyed the Beef Chow Mein, Beef with pea pods, Szechuan Chicken and Chicken with garlic sauce. Service has always been very fast and efficient. But, I’ve only ordered for pick up and delivery. The inside isn’t anything too special if you are looking for a nicer sit down place.

The Egg Rolls and Crab rangoon are phenomenal, the fried rice and entrees not so much. Stick to the appetizers and pass on everything else.

I can’t say I’ve ever been inclined to actually eat-in here. However, I love getting take-out. Sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, crab rangoon, and eggrolls are my standard order. As far as I’m concerned, it’s currently the best chinese food in this neighborhood. Oh, and I believe the egg rolls are free if you have the coupon from the menu.

My favorite chinese restaurant in this particular neighborhood. Quality food with friendly service. Reasonable menu prices and their 3.95 lunch special(lunch ends at 3:30) is a gift from heaven.
