This bar smelt like a port-a-potty immediately when we walked in we went there because on their website it said they had 2 $ shots of whisky and free darts which was misleading because we were charged 7 $ for each whiskey shot. We asked politely if they were having issues with their toilets due to the smell but we wer then told we should find another place to go if we didn’t like the smell. When closing the tab the bartender spent 5 minutes talking to a coworker rather than grabbing our bills and giving them to us. I would never recommend this bar to anyone I like.

Don’t try to go here with an out of state ID. They don’t accept them apparently. Regardless of your age… Even if you request police verification…

I can finally give 5 stars. My boyfriend and I came here on a Monday, the best night, steak night. We had 2 steaks cooked to perfection and 2 beers. I love this place. The waitress was great. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Played Seinfeld trivia here a couple weeks ago. We had a good time. The service was pretty mediocre but the food was good for bar food. The atmosphere is pretty large and barren feeling. Maybe just because it was a Tuesday night? Our server was fine, fairly personality lacking and maybe a little slow(speed wise) and pretty much eh. I ordered a salad which was tasty, someone in our group ordered the mac n cheese with bacon and that tasted pretty good. The drinks were fine. I was just underwhelmed. If they weren’t hosting a special trivia there, I probably would have never ended up at this bar. It was just ok. The person running the trivia was really nice and had a fun personality.

This place was nearby, open, not overly crowded and was serving food when we needed it. There’s nothing to really set this place apart from many other pubs. There are lots of TVs playing mostly sports stuff. They have drinks and bar food. Drinks were a bit pricey. The friend chicken sandwich was pretty good, and you can get tater tots as a side, which is a nice touch. Their regular french fries were OK, but nothing special. Everything on their menu has names like«Extreme» and«Amazing»… they’re over-selling it.

We went to Lion’s Head on a Friday night as a post-happy hour after work and had a good time. Décor: This place is a straight bar and definitely attracts a younger crowd — we were the«old(er) people that somehow arrived here from The Loop» for sure. But, it’s a pretty solid place with lots of room, a decent amount of tables, a large(four-sided) bar and even an upstairs club area. It has everything you’d be looking for in a strictly«hang out» bar. Bathroom:(Men’s Room) there was an attendant and it was NOT an enjoyable experience… first off, he was burning incense which made you STINYK coming out of there. Second, he was sitting right in the doorway so it bottle-necked everyone. And third, he was signing along with music he had provided(this wasn’t anywhere near as bad/annoying as the first two points). Overall, the bathroom was pretty standard for a bar. Staff: The bartenders were a bit on the slow side… we expected more given it was a Friday night. However, our waitress was pretty attentive and nice(we started the night seated and then moved on). Drinks: We did not have any food, just drinks! We had everything from shots to cocktails to beer and it was all fine. Value: I honestly don’t remember what the drinks prices were like… although we had a round of $ 2 tequilla shots and a boatload of drinks and our tab wasn’t anywhere near what we were thinking it would be… so I guess the prices are cheap. Lion’s Head is a decent spot for a couple of drinks and perfect if you’re in, or fresh out of, college. I’d return in the future.

Drove across town to meet friends to watch the Northwestern game. Place was very slow. One waitress, Monica, working bar and tables. We ordered wings, listed under the appetizer section of the menu, and burgers. Burgers came first from the kitchen, and I said, «Oh, we didn’t get our wings,» and the snotty waitress shoots back, «They’re coming, I only have two hands.» Excuse me? My comment wasn’t bitchy, hers was. And usually when someone orders something from the appetizer menu and then two entrees, apps come first. Pretty standard restaurant behavior, I’d say. Monica asked if there was anything she could do, because I was clearly upset, but what could be done? Put our burgers under a heat lamp? I told her I didn’t appreciate her comment, that I wasn’t trying to be a smart ass. I won’t be back.

For my sister’s 21st birthday, we went to a Cubs game and then planned on going to Clarks, but it was closed. We stopped here as a default, we were planning just to get dinner and a few drinks before heading back home. It was fairly empty, there were 17 of us. So you would think they would be excited for the business, this was not the case… our waitress was nice enough, but the wait time on food was ridiculous. We all ordered, it took about 30 – 404minutes or so before food started coming out, they brought two orders out of the time most everyone order cheeseburgers. By the time my sister’s burger and my chicken sandwich came out, everyone else was done eating. One of the male waiters was very rude, actually said to my sister, «I understand it’s your 21st birthday, why don’t you act like you’re actually in a bar.» Mind you we were not rambunctious or overly loud. Having a party of 17, including my parents and other older adults, you would think they would treat us better. Needless to say, I will never be back. It was inexcusable.

Unfortunately this is the only way I feel this message will get across to the right people who can hopefully make the right changes to improve this bar. Lion Head has been a place that I’ve visited many times on various days of the week. While yes a «bro bar» and sometimes full of college students it has been generally a good time. I as a former waitress and bartender can understand the chaos that can erupt when a bar has an influx of people for an event(i.e. sports games, trivia etc). However last Wednesday Night, F.R.I.E.N.D.S. trivia, the service was unacceptable. This was not my first trivia night at lion head. The service the first time was below par, this time was inexcusable. The bar was clearly understaffed for this event. There was 3 waitresses, a bar back and a guy walking around called manager in a plaid shirt trying to look important. I had arrived waaaay early because I knew based on the fb invite that this would be a pretty packed room and I had a good size group meeting me. The waitress already had failed a number of times to check in on our table(1 of 3 in the entire bar). We sat for 40 mins at one point with cups and plates and garbage all over the table. Red flag. The«manager» passed by several times without helping the clearly overwhelmed waitress. Red flag. We ordered food and when we hadn’t received the order in about 30 – 40 min, I began to look around for our waitress, wearing purple with purple hair ya couldn’t miss her, could not find her. Finally flagged down the one and only busser to find her for us and she came running in from outside, smelling of smoke and out of breath. Long story short the food never went in. Blood boiling! Here’s the thing, you know you’re going to be busy, you know that you’re understaffed. I’ve def been in this situation before and had to make the most of it. You don’t take breaks til its over, you ask the management for help(though they should be able to see that your in the weeds anyway and pick up the slack), be clear on sections and who is doing what. It was an absolute SHITSHOW. I’ve never looked around a bar and seen more people without drinks and unhappy. Thank god for the trivia group for understanding. I don’t think I’ll be returning and its too bad because the trivia on a Wednesday night was great! I hope this gets to the right people who can make the proper changes to this once upon a time great pub. Because asking to speak with the manager was useless… He never came over to the table and after 10 mins. We just left.

I went for Bar Trivia. 90’s pop culture trivia– it was well run, and this place has a decent beer menu for reasonable prices.

I came here for a friend’s birthday. The Apartment has been renovated since I was last here. Very much a «bro» environment. Those stairs can be pretty dangerous if you’re drunk. But an easy place to share a tower of beer with friends.

When I want cheap bar food, I can’t really do better than Lion Head Pub. I’m not expecting a gourmet burger or artisan pizza. I just want a pound of tator tots and cheap beer that kind of tastes like water. I have no room for your judgement in my life.

Wow — Lion Head surprised me! I wasn’t expecting too much from the outside, but for an incredibly affordable place they are really clean and have great bar food! 6+ ways to get your 1lb of fries on — add any sauce for only $ 0.50c! Very affordable bar food in the $ 5 – 10 range that is made well. I came in with a big group for some beers and some light food. The beer selection is A-OK to good, and I was VERY happy with the $ 5 adult grilled cheese(tomato and bacon included) with fries covered in jalapeño queso. I ordered another $ 3 order of –1LB– of fries to share and had them topped with truffle oil and Jack Daniel’s BBQ. Everything was really tasty and presented well, and the service was fast and friendly. It is really amazing how simple the formula is for a great experience here. I know I’ll be back to experience it again!

It’s a Tuesday and they’re supposed to be open till 2am. My buddy needed to get his credit card back and they’re closed at 1:15am. That’s not cool. We walked 20 min to get here; I wish this place could honor their hours.

This place is pretty cool. Good music, plenty of tvs for sports fans, and lots of space! They also have awesome daily deals/specials for both food and drinks. I enjoyed their $ 2.50 cheeseburger and fries deal last night — it was awesome! Quality burger, decent amount of fries — I couldn’t believe it was only $ 2.50! I will definitely be coming back to enjoy more of their menu and specials.

This place is pretty nice. I used to go here a lot when I attended DePaul University about 2 years ago, but I recently went back to chill with some friends. The food was never very impressive, so I wasn’t disappointed since I knew what to expect. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I loved our bartender. She was such a sweetie and got us our drinks right away. I have always had a great experience with the bartenders here. They have usually been prompt and friendly. We went upstairs to the apartment to dance after having a couple drinks downstairs. I have never been overly fond of their«club» upstairs, but this time is was pretty good. It wasn’t overly crowded as it usually is so that was a perk. They have a bar upstairs too, but the bartender wasn’t nearly as good as the one downstairs. She was sweet, but it took her awhile to get out drinks even without a crowd. Overall, I would say this is a great place if you want a few drinks and chill with some friends.

We live near the lion head pub. A few evenings ago we had time to catch dinner before seeing a play nearby, an ducked inside for a bite. We’ve been several times for quick dinners, but this is the first tine that I’m writing a review and I’ll be combining the experiences. They have a great beer selection, but I’d definitely go with the bottles. The draft lines must not be that well kept, as the draft beers don’t taste as good as they should. I’ve had enough of them to know. The good news is that they have a great selection of bottles and cans, and while I typically prefer draft, I go bottles/cans here. Lion Head also surprisingly has good food. I’ve been there for all sorts of specials, and sometimes it seems like the kitchen makes things up each month or so. This time we had great fish tacos(could not beat the price at $ 1/piece). The burger and fries were nothing special, but in the past we’ve had specialty burgers that were really good. We’ll be back.

Pretty good. Came with a DJ and as a prompter I would gladly come back anytime. Great crowd. Some just random. For the most part though pretty decent. I mean live music what can ya ask for? It’s an Upscale bar that looks kinda small from outside but it holds a decent crowd. I’m in the elevated area and it’s been building up steady since 8. The staff is very nice the food is aight bar food.. The drink selection is fairly good I mean I asked, without looking, for absolut citron as a substitute but they didn’t have it. Anyway tho the few drinks I have were good.

I have been here a couple of times for drinks and food, as well as went upstairs to the Apartment to dance afterwards. Honestly, the drinks were decently priced and the burger was really good(I love tator tots!) But the service was horrible! It was super packed the day that we went and I thought that it was just such a horrible wait. We couldn’t find our waitress and it took 30 minutes to get out once we asked for our checks. I think that if I went on a weekday, it would be fine but for now, it just isn’t that great. The location is great though, all in a row of other bars and it is good for groups if you come for trivia or their drink specials.
