Luke’s on Harlem

Much better dogs than the place people wait in line for in River Grove. They actually serve a real Chicago dog. At the end of the day, your typical fast food joint.
The best feature is the drive-​thru … not too many places in the area with a drive-​thru. Great for when you’re in a bind for time and need to grab a quick burger or hot dog.

It’s with sadness in my eyes that I have to write this. The quality of Luke’s on Harlem has significantly gone down during the years. What used to be one of my favorite hotdog joints in Chicagoland has depreciated to something that is just ok and average. Don’t get me wrong, this is far from the worst food around, but it’s really gone down in taste in flavor the last few years. The fries are either over cooked or under cooked, the hotdogs somehow don’t seem as flavorful, and the pizza sits in a heater for hours now (or at least tastes like it).

I am so annoyed. I was starving, went in, food looks great, had to use the restroom — no public restroom. There’s no way in hell I am going to give my money to a business that won’t even let me use the same restroom that their employees use. End of story! By the way they’re never going to get me in there again.

Came in here for a beef, left here hungry for more ! Fries were cooked to perfection, beef was on spot. Although I would like it to be more juicy, but the taste was great, $ 9.09 for their #5. which includes a LG drink. Cleanliness… WOW ! I have never seen a fast food place this clean !

Do no order pizza here. It will get there cold. If u try a slice the slice taste better than if u order a whole pizza. Whole pizza is nasty. Stale. Too hard. And always arrives cold. Everytime i come bak this restaurants food seems to be getting worse. Probably my last time. Not to mention the rude customer service

On the southwest corner of Harlem and Belmont… oh no honey… I’m not talking about that commercial W*ite C*ast*e. I’m referring to Luke’s, which was aired on one of the episodes of «Chicago’s Best.» Rosa J., Mama J., and Daddy J. were walking northbound on Harlem, and I wanted to treat them some Chi-​town fare.
Luke’s on Harlem does dine-​in, carry-​out, delivery, and even drive-​through. They have awesome hours just in case you’re cold, lonely, and knowing that your bus isn’t coming for another twenty (20) minutes.
Our destiny wasn’t that sad since the weather was beyond pleasant for late October in Chicago. Luke’s menu is clear to understand, with the value combos featuring right at the center. Rosa J. did all the ordering since she’s a self-​proclaimed Chi-​town «blue-​collar» food master (well…that sounds way too boastful… please disregard my statement if you want to).
Their Italian beef sandwich was «soaked» a bit too much. However, the beef itself was very juicy and tender. The hot giardiniera could have used more celeries and carrots, but that was just my personal preference since I enjoy my hot peppers with «textures.»
On the other hand, Daddy J. loved the Italian sausage sandwich. For some «add-​on» pricing information, extra hot/​sweet peppers and cheese will charge $ 0.45.
For three (3) value combos (large fries and drinks included) and all the extra ingredient add-​ons, my MasterCard was charged $ 26 and some change, not to mention that our beloved Cook County Deputy Sheriff popped in and joined our «Lunch at Luke’s» filming crew.
The only downfall is that Luke’s doesn’t provide a restroom for patrons. Well, that’s really not a deal breaker at all since the food is what matters.

The food was awesome but the delivery man was super rude. He called to know where the address was and there was constant swearing over the phone. When we did get the food it was cold.

I come to Luke’s all the time. It’s two blocks from my house so going to a place with good food and within walking distance is kind of a no brainer. The people at Luke’s have treated me with nothing but kindness and a precise excellence in customer service. Everyone there is really friendly. I’ve always loved their food and any friend or family member i bring in with me always tells me how much they enjoy it too and then always ask me to go buy them an Italian ice when they come over to visit. I also love how they’re open late. Luke’s is definitely a cool place to go. :)

Beef was good, dipped. Giardinera could be better, I like mine crunchy. Hot dog was just blah. And the Italian ice lemon is soooooo good! Really good!

Not sure what all the hype is about. I’ve been here a few times now and every time I go back, I remember why there’s been so much time between visits. This will be my last time here.
To me the beef has no flavor and the fries are awful. I’ve had worse, but Luke’s probably wouldn’t make my top 10 beefs in Chicago.

After reading these reviews i had to write my own ;) been going to Lukes since i was a kid. There beef is amazing ;) its a beef stand … i see the reviews that are bad are only about the pizza … who goes to a beef stand and orders pizza? ??? Lol so if you all eat the beef you will give it a 5 star review because they have the best ;) duhhh lol

This is the first time my fiancé and I tried Luke’s. We made a $ 30 purchase for what we thought was gonna be great food, and we’re very dissatisfied with the price and the meal overall. We bought an Italian beef #5 on the menu, now i thought all Italian beefs came with peppers. Apparently not, because we were charged 90 cents each for sweet and hot peppers! Nothing was seasoned, our fries were limp and soggy! The Italian beefs were dry ! Our Hawaiian punch tasted too much like syrup. The side of cheese we ordered tasted like generic pasteurized cheese that wasn’t even fully melted! I also ordered the tamale, and my goodness! If you can’t cook, stay out of the damn kitchen! I am super angry that I decided to try this place and wished I stuck with White Castle next door… I would NEVER recommend this place! Don’t waste your money on food that my dog wouldn’t even eat!

Meh — I used to go here as a teenager so when we drove by it I had to stop in. You get a huge sack of fries but sadly they were limp undercooked things.
I had the meatball sandwich. Not a happy camper. The sauce seemed like it was spooned out of a jar at room temperature and the meatballs were lukewarm at best. Funny smell and taste to the whole sandwich.
Should have left that memory in the past.

Ok so super fast service… or hot delivery! Ordered my Beef /​Sassage Combo always alla marinara, mozzarella and the heat (Gardiner) best in town!
They have late hours ample menu and fresh food and did I mention a drive thru!

I love this place when I move I think this the place I’m going to miss most the staff is always coherent and amiable I definitely recommend to those who have not tried this to hurry and come to this place also delivery is always fast

Definitely not the best pizza you’ll ever try, that’s for sure but they’re open super late so if you have a craving, Luke’s is there.

Ordered a thin crust sausage & cheese pizza well done. Delivered quickly & fresh. Pizza was delicious! Definitely would recommend to friends!

A+ service and delicious and chewy hotdogs just the way I like them ! Slathered in bbq sauce and relish and even ordered hot water, no screw ups on my order total competency :)

I don’t know what’s more awesome (while being drunk off your ass) the friendly service they give you or the awesome food they serve you. I came in on a Wednesday at 1230am and they treated me as if I was their first costumer. I had an old ass pizza from their rotating display case but it was still flavorful. Cheese fries was on point as well as their pizza puff. I definitely went down on some random food and they didn’t judge. Cheers to them and the young feller that helped me.
