Not a bad neighborhood bar. The beer list is quite good actually. But, if you are particular about whiskey, this place is not so great. The bartenders are friendly and the ambiance is welcoming.

Marquee Lounge is a sneaky big bar which has the parts: a front bar area, middle room, and a back bar. The front bar area is really fun and lively. They play great music in the front, nice and loud. The middle room and is just some extra space with a free pool table and some group seating. Back bar is a more relaxed atmosphere with some more tables. Drinks are decently priced and very good. the employees and bartenders are always very nice. Overall a great spot to hang out in Lincoln Park!

This place is great and deceivingly huge! They always have a great beer list, and friendly service. The crowd is friendly and the people watching is top notch right on Halsted and Armitage. In the summer time they have open air windows along the front which is a bonus. I only wish they offered food, or something and I would stay there a lot longer.

My favorite bar in LP. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, free pool, and a buckhunter. Plenty of tv’s. You can order takeout from anywhere and eat it here, which is a huge plus with taco joint, summer house, Stella bara, and pasta palozza right across the street Only negative is the scores on the buckhunter leaderboard are so high, it’s tough to crack the top 10. GEY, DUG, 420, Z69, MJQ, DAD and HUS dominate the board, those guys are legends.

Odd, off, parallel universe feel to it. Utterly conventional yet not quite«right» & a bit pricey. Still, probably the best option in its area for a pre– or post– dinner beer.

Good place to stop in for a beer and nothing more. Solid beers on tap, friendly bartenders, and generally open seats. Nothing special, but nothing awful by any means, either. Just a good place to grab a beer should you be in the neighborhood. 311⁄365

I went after having dinner near by with some co-workers. It was quiet enough for us to talk but had a fun jukebox and good music. Beer selection was solid and the bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. This is a good place to go and have a beer without dealing with crowds.

My friend rented this place out this past year for 130+ of our friends to spend New Year’s, and I can’t say enough good things about how friendly the staff were here. They had another party in the back, but they made sure that each party stuck to their own space. This was kind because we had more people, and it’s a tight space already. We wouldn’t have minded if the other party mingled with ours, though. They let us have a DJ, and they were really quick to make drinks for all of us. Everything was exactly as we had anticipated it would be. We’ll definitely be going back.

If I lived in Chicago, I’d probably be a regular here. I was in town with a bunch of friends for a conference, and we randomly walked into Marquee Lounge after having dinner down the street. We wanted something fun and inexpensive, and we found it! We ordered a round of beers — PBR16 ouncers for only $ 3! In the back of the bar is a pool table and a bunch of booths. I really love the décor back there, with a theater theme, and all walls painted with murals. There are giant windows which kept a nice breeze filtering through the room. There’s a jukebox with a great variety of songs, and great sound throughout the entire building. The bathrooms were also super clean. We hung out there for a few hours, first on our own, then people started trickling in and we ended up playing pool with some locals, ordering more rounds of beers and tiny shots of tequila! The bartender was super nice, and all of the locals were very friendly. We had tons of fun! I would go back next time I’m in Chicago(there is an excellent tapas restaurant less than a block away, so it could happen!), and I would recommend it!

The Marquee Lounge is a great Lincoln Park bar. Low key on off hours and packed on weekend nights. Great selection of draft and bottled craft beers.

My friends and I hosted a 130+ person party and I can’t say enough about the staff and the space. They gave us a great price and everyone from the bartenders to the bouncer was friendly and more than accommodating. They even allowed us to bring in a DJ! I had multiple people tell me it was the best party they’d been to in a long time. Everything ran smoothly and the space was perfect. I would definitely recommend this bar to anyone looking to throw a great party!

Good neighborhood bar right on the corner. It was pretty empty when we went so we got our pick of seats. Great beers on tap and beer list and bartender was friendly. Good place to stop in for a beer. 354⁄365

This is one of the few bars in LP that isn’t totally annoying and DePaul infested.(Look for the schlitz sign). It has cheap beers, a great jukebox, and friendly bartenders. What else do you need?

I stopped in here on a Saturday afternoon with my parents after exploring the neighborhood for a drink. The bar was relatively quiet except for the music playing. The music was good, the atmosphere was nice, there was plenty of available places to sit, and there was no wait of drinks. I also have to say that the beer list was pretty good, and the prices were decent. This is a great little neighborhood bar perfect to just stop in for a drink!

Worst bar I’ve ever been to. Staff is offensively, overtly racist. Kicked me and a large group of friends out because we came directly from a traditional Indian Hindu wedding wearing traditional garb. Called us a bunch of «pakis» and told us to get the fuck out. Disgusting.

What’s not to like about Schlitz Bar, I mean Marquee Lounge, except maybe one thing? To wit: + Great location right on the corner, with plenty of windows for people watching and a nice ledge on which to lean, cowboy. + Air conditioning. Yes, they have it now. I’m not so sure they did when I first patronized the place on a stiflingly hot evening. + Sport on the tele. + A quality pint O’Guinness. + Invariably, a track from the Stone Roses’ first album on the jukebox, and I’ve never even dropped a quarter into the machine. + Great place to pre-game in the early evening when it’s quiet. Now, about that one thing. It’s the bathroom. To the left, you have the area for serious business and/or throwing up. And it’s military style, meaning no door and no privacy, Private Pyle. Pun intended. To the right, you have the area for whizzing. But the setup for the whizzing is even more remarkable than the area for serious business and/or throwing up. The urinal is situated such that if someone is using it when you walk in, their little guy is going to be perpendicular to you and just about in your face. Did the guys from the Manhandler across the street design this bathroom? WTF? Oh, and no mirror. You can only assume your hair is still perfect, player. Other than the shortcomings of the bathroom and the fact that Marquee isn’t ever going to be a marquee watering hole as far as the glitterati is concerned, Marquee does quite well what it’s supposed to do. Four stars.

Although I appreciate a strong, cheap drink as much as the next person, that quality does not make up for the atmosphere, or lack thereof, in this place. Oh, and there was a(used) condom in the absolutely trashed ladies’ bathroom. Enough said? I think so. Bottom line: don’t even bother.

What do you get when you combine a cute little bar, a great pour of Guinness and a fabulous staff? You get the Marquee lounge. The first thing I noticed about this bar was the old fixtures. The Marquee has a wonderful, retro look that I really enjoyed. From the old beer signs to the hardwood bar, a trip to this place is like walking back in time. The bar has a mellow, fun vibe that I really enjoyed. The Marquee had a nice mix of people hanging out at the bar the night I stopped in. You had the hot, Lincoln Park Trixie’s, the locals and even a few old farts like me enjoying their favorite spirit. Regardless of their age and background, everybody seemed to be having a good time. Here’s the bottom line: If you’re looking to enjoy a top notch drinking establishment with a retro feel, head on down to the Marquee lounge. The first pint’s on me.

I enjoy the layout and look of this bar. It reminds me of a European beer hall with long wooden tables and mural walls that also resemble stained glass. There’s also a back area so there usually isn’t a whole lot of need to stand for lack of tables. I’ve been here a couple of times and I don’t recall ever having a server so this may be an understaffed bar which means going up to the bar to order your drinks and possibly having to wait to get noticed by the busy bartender. It’s a good, casual tavern when you want a few drinks but aren’t looking to have a rowdy night. The other perk is its location if you do intend to make it a really late night, the 5am bar is right down the street.

You know how they say you can never go home again? Well, I guess that’s true with Marquee Lounge. Located right on the corner of Halsted & Armitage, it used to be one of my favorite spots to get the night started, grab a drink, meet some boys, smoke some cigs(yes, this was circa 2003) and you know, have fun. I always had a good time and always looked forward to going back. Flash forward to Angie M. at age 30. I’m at the point in life now where I can’t handle all these young kids and much prefer either a low-key bar or nice lounge when I’m headed out on a Saturday night, however I was involved in a mission to help my friend who is in the under 25 set meet some men, so I took one for the team and headed to Marquee to make it happen. Er… yeah. Maybe now I have higher expectations? The bar is very simple with a front room that has, yes, a big bar and some random high top tables. The middle room has a pool table and the back room is another bar with some more high tables. Nothing earth shattering. I thought, «Were my expectations just really low in my early to mid 20’s?» Here’s the thing: Marquee Lounge used to be crawling with boys on the prowl. Now? Not so much. There are still some cuties there, but they all bring their girlfriends along for the ride. Boo! Either I fail miserably as a pimp or my young friend isn’t cute. Duh, she is cute; I just fail as a pimp. In the end Marquee is fun for grabbing some drinks and catching up with friends, bad for meeting young dudes. Excellent oatmeal cookie shots by Allison the Bartender. Ask for one. You won’t regret it.
