Now they have the AUDACITY to charge you for hot sauce, $.25 cents per cup! That’s a GODDAMN joke! They claim it’s because of new management. I have half a mind to drop them down to 3 stars for that move. I’ll certainly be spending less money here now.

I’m all for a cramped chicken shack with fried everything but Mickey’s has issues. Four of us ordered a batch of chicken wings each. The jumbo wings were undercooked and pink. The medium wings were dry and nearly meatless. The wings had NO flavor. I repeat NO flavor. The included BBQ sauce was like sweet ketchup. The fries were soggy. Here’s the deal. If the food is amazing, most customers will overlook slow service, dirty walls and floors and a limited menu. Mickey’s food is not amazing.

I’ve been going here for years. I used to love it, however, recently chicken is dry as hell. Fries need salt.

PRISONCHICKEN!!! Their chicken fingers are insanely good. Awesome breading. On the cleanliness and service side they’re pretty weak, but there’s a huge chance that you’re not going to care once you have your first bite of their fried chicken.

Some of the worst service I’ve had — not appealing for the long walk we took to go here. The chicken strips I had barely had any batter. On 2 of the 3 you could see the dryness of the chicken meat — and boy were they dry! My friend got the perch — very fishy(on a Friday no less) and it had many bones. Did I mention the service was bad? I would not waste my time — bad service and bad food in a dump of a place — which normally I can let slide providing all else is somewhat acceptable.

I ordered the 3 piece chicken tenders(i ended up with four). They were actually decent size. What bothered me is they came out almost instantly. They cook them ahead of time. If i would have known that I would have never went there. They were on the dry side so I wrapped them up and gave them away to someone on the street. Fries weren’t good at all. About anything decent was the bread.

I’m pretty sure that I wrote a review for this place. I’ve noticed that at least 4 or 5 places I’ve reviewed are gone(not filtered). Whatever. Everyone has talked about the chicken tenders. They are good and they are the real deal. I was skeptical because I like real chicken tenders fried just right and they aren’t so easy to find. J&J’s on Damen is my current go to spot for them. These tenders are not the frozen breaded, prefabricated crap. When you need that fried, fattening fare, get the small tender. You get three big tenders with fries(run of the mill frozen crinkle cut) and a roll for under $ 6. That’s a pretty good deal. Note: Don’t expect to sit and eat here unless it’s after 2:30 or so.

Love their jumbo(pterodactyl) wings and fries! But absolutely stick to the rule to never buy a maxwell polish from a chicken joint! it was shriveled and dry like they microwaved it. This was disappointing, but my co-worker warned me. I will continue to patronize them for their chicken. I’m allergic to seafood so I haven’t tried the fish, but heard good things from my co-workers.

Hold the phone. Better yet, hold your chest. I think I found the best friend chicken wings in the city. Just so we’re clear, not Buffalo just chicken wings. They have these Jumbo Chicken wings here that are so good they make your tongue slap the roof of your mouth. No lie but I can only eat 4 of these things. The price for these mothers is wicked fair. I would actually pay more. Their hot sauce it good too. Their fries are not so amazing but then again you don’t really need them because the chicken is so good. Best recommendation is to call ahead. It takes a minute to get all that deliciousness into these wings. The breeding on these things is like edible ecstasy. It crunches in your mouth like deep fries crack… chicken crack. Yum. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. Where is my damn phone. gonna get me a 10 piece right now.

Service was fast and the wings were cooked fresh, but the wings had that freezer burned taste & texture. I’ll give them another try the next time I’m inthe area.

Ima put it to you like this: you’re not going to find better chicken fingers in the loop. Period. Micky’s chicken fingers are always piping hot, juicy, and delicious. And they don’t have excessive amounts of crust on them. The highlight is the chicken itself. These are nice, thick chunks of all white meat chicken that always taste like they came directly out of the fryer. Their freshness is what makes them so good. Oh, and did I mentioned their hot sauce is the bomb? Because it is. The chicken by itself is great, but dipping in that perfect hot sauce takes it to another level. It’s like you’re doing something wrong it’s so good. Mind you, I don’t eat here every week because generally I’d like to live to see my 50th birthday, but at least once or twice a month I head down to that seedy stretch of Clark St to indulge in my favorite fried guilty pleasure. Micky’s is where it’s at for the best fried chicken in the loop.

This place has been around for years. It’s the classic dumpy hole in the wall with deep fried goodness inside. You either get the Chicken Fingers or the Jumbo Wings. Both come with fries, Roll and Barbecue Sauce. 3 Wings are usually enough to fill me up. Like I said… they are Jumbo. They have other things on the menu but why bother.

Micky was super friendly! +1 star We ordered 5 pieces of the chicken fingers and the fish and chips. Fish and Chips — by far the best thing on the menu! A must get and a pretty good deal at that Chicken fingers — pretty huge portion, however once it gets cold. its a goner! So eat up while it is hot I’m not quite sure what they were doing with the side of dinner roll, but it was pretty plain and wish it came with butter/honey! Nevertheless, I would recommend if you are looking for a spot to get some quick cheap food on the go!

I used to eat here for lunch when I worked for Bear Stearns Chicago over 10 years ago. I was in Chicago for vacation recently and me and my family had to make a stop here. I LOVE the Chicken Fingers! I’ve had the wings but to me, fingers is the best. I actually made two consecutive trips here from the western burbs just to have this. Loved it. It’s as I remember it 10 years ago. However, I found out that the original owners sold the place and moved to Canada. The original cook is still there frying up those fingers! I hope this place is still here when I come back to visit!

In the mood for chicken or fish? This is your place! It’s not much to look at, but the food is great. The chicken wings were meaty and delicious. The fish were nicely breaded and had good flavor. The BBQ sauce was amazing! I’m normally not a huge fan of BBQ sauce, but I could have drank Micky’s BBQ sauce like a shake with my meal. The 3 wings and 3 fish combo comes with fries and a piece of dinner roll for $ 8. They also have a few other items on their menu, like sandwiches, gyro, and pizza puff! The beverage fridge offered a variety of Sunkisk drinks, like strawberry, which I tried because I’ve never had it before. It was pretty good. Kudos to Micky’s for being open on Saturdays when most places are closed in the Loop. They weren’t even all that busy during the Saturday lunch hour. There is seating for about 8 people, and no restroom. Make sure to come with clean hands :)

For whatever reason, it took me a full three years to build up the courage(?) to walk into Micky’s and place an order. After«touchdown», it’s taken me a week to THRICELY order food from there. Oh young and delicious love. Location: 5 out of 5 Excellent location, at least for me. I can walk there from where I work. I can walk there from where I live. So that means that on any given Saturday(they are closed on Sundays), I can call in an order, put on my shoes, and by the time I get there — my food will be ready to go. Not that I’ve tried this yet. But I will. Public transportation is plentiful either by the El or bus. Customer Service: 4 out of 5 Everyone that works there has been friendly enough. I have interacted with the same two or three people each time: a close-to-middle-age woman of Indian sub-continent descent(I think?), and two Spanish/English bilingual speakers that are either manning the fryolator or doing other tasks around the cooking area. Micky’s isn’t really a sit-down type place, but all three of the people are friendly and wear a smile on their faces. Ambience or Décor: 2 out of 5 Ahhh…the old nondescript hole in the wall atmosphere where the fixtures, flooring, and layout probably haven’t changed in the past 15 years(or whenever they opened). I would probably never eat in the restaurant, though they do have seating for about 10 people. One shouldn’t confuse being old or outdated with being«dirty», because the staff here obviously do their best to at least clean and straighten things up on a regular basis. The outdoors sign is a bright yellow that proclaims«Swift Service!» and matches well with the rest of the small business that adorn this once-dubious stretch of Clark Street. Quality of Food: 5 out of 5(Fried Chicken Wings and Strips only) I can’t speak for the seafood that the institution offers, but the fried chicken wings and strips are outstanding, and reminiscent of my stomping ground days in Evanston when I would visit Chicken Shack on a somewhat-regular basis. Bear in mind that the only fried chicken they offer are wings(medium or jumbo), and that when they refer to «wings», then mean the entire wing, and not cut up halves. The breading is well seasoned without being too salty or bland, and each time I’ve gone — the person manning the fryolator has been able to provide a consistent delicious result of golden crispy on the outside with moist and tender flesh on the inside. Never burnt, never undercooked, and I daresay, not even too oily. They advertise their strips/fingers as being jumbo as well. These are not your flattened and pre-shaped wimpy strips, but instead — meaty breast measuring at least 1.5 inches thick and 4 — 5 inches long. The crinkle cut fries have been average to significantly above average; I think there may be a correlation to what time of day I go, but I’ve yet to test my theory. The Gonella baked roll is actually pretty good, and if you let it «steam» for a few moments in the brown paper bag they use to package your order, it will absorb some of that fried chicken goodness. Price: 4 out of 5 Incredibly well-priced for what you get. Trust me — your eyes will be bigger than your stomach. Unfortunately, that was an affliction that has hit me twice already. The first time I went in, I was Andy the Conqueror. «3 medium wings and 3 finger combo!» I exclaimed. After eating the roll, and 2 of the fingers, I quickly realized that I had been reduced to «Andy the wimp.» I started eating my «lunch» at 11:30AM, and didn’t finish all of the food till around 4:00pm, slowly picking here and there at it. I did not eat dinner that night. I went in yesterday as well, and said, «4 jumbo wings!» After eating the fries, roll, and 1 jumbo wing, I realized that yet again, I had been defeated. And to clarify, I’m not exactly a small guy(though I am short). The 4 jumbo wings combo came out to 7 dollars on the dot, and I would daresay that the average person could split it up into two separate meals. I think ideally I could eat 4 medium wings spread out over 5 hours, which would probably come out to 6 dollars on the dot. I’m telling you — it’s a good buy. Overall: 4 out of 5 Solid 4 star experience. Don’t be afraid of the characters in the area that look transient — they’re really quite harmless. Call ahead for quicker service.

Went for a quick 11am stop while walking to the Shedd with my girlfriend. Service was good — a little slow to cook after ordering but I don’t expect a bunch of hot fresh wings to be waiting at that time of the morning on a weekend. I’d much rather have hot food than stale food. We got the 3&3 and it was FANTASTIC. The excellent BBQ sauce definitely helped, and the hot sauce was pretty damn good too. This is literally one of the best BBQ sauces I have ever put on white bread. The chicken fingers were a little small, but the fish made up for that and we also received an extra. We both left full(though the better half is not a huge eater) on one order for less than $ 10 which is great if you ask me. The person working at the time was very friendly and we really enjoyed the food. I’ll still hit Harold’s, but it isn’t going to stop me from coming back here.

THEONEANDONLYCHICKENPLACEFORME! I first heard about«Mike’s»(the original name, back in 1999) when I worked for Bank One. When the lunch topic came about everyday, a group of my co-workers would always say«We are off to Mike’s.» After hearing this for so long I gave in and just had to ask where this place was. When I found out it was Clark and Van Buren, I was like«NO I DON’T THINKSO!» I worked in the area of Clark and Randolph, so if I were going to Mike’s, I might as well go home because it was right by the Metra station I commuted to and from everyday. Like everyone else I only have an hour for lunch, so half my time would be spent just hiking down there. So, one day I decided to have my co-workers bring an order of the jumbo wings. MANOHMANOHMAN, I WASINLOVE! They were fresh, hot, seasoned well, and plump! I am a bit of a «Chicken Wing Connoisseur», and I have had my fair share of wings that looked and tasted as though they were from chickens that were on life support. The place is now called Micky’s. It has been years since I worked in the loop, but whenever I am even remotely close to the area I make it my business to stop in. Bottom line is… its a «greasy spoon» type place with great food. Lines can be long around lunchtime, but they are relatively fast. I always call ahead because I hate waiting on anything. If you are a fan of the chicken wing this is your place!

I was looking for a new place to eat today on Unilocal and found Mickey’s. I read the reviews and decided I would go and get the chicken tenders since everyone is raving about them. So, I went; I ate; now I write review. First of all, the service was FAST! If I wasn’t waiting for my co-worker’s shrimp dinner I would have been out of there in about 45 seconds. Seriously, it was that fast. My food was waiting for me before I could complete the transaction with the cashier! Second, the hot sauce is awesome. I like mine spicy but from flavor, not just heat. The hot sauce reminded me a bit of the sauce they serve at Lawrence’s Fisheries. If you like flavor spice then you should try this sauce. And finally, the chicken tenders. Yes, they were good. No, they weren’t the best. They are large and juicy which is great but they were a bit chewy for my taste. Not all the way through chewy but just a little on the outside of the tender. The inside was hot, juicy, and delicious! That outside though… a little chewy. I am definitely gonna give Mickey’s another go as perhaps my tenders were just having a bad day. Like I said, they were delicious but there was something not quite«right» about them. When I try them again I’ll update my review with(hopefully) a better outcome. All-in-all, Mickey’s served up exactly what I was expecting faster than I was expecting it. Definitely a good lunch spot for us South Loopers or those visiting the prison. I recommend you try it yourself!(Mickey’s, not the prison)

Hooray for Prison Chicken. An amazing value — 3 enormous tenders and fries for $ 5.35. Think of this as a… streamlined and faster paced version of Sharks. Just a couple options, and you don’t have to wait 10 minutes for it to be done. As a coworker pointed out, this is a good way to make your own buffalo chicken — they have an iced tea dispenser full of a pretty decent buffalo style hot sauce — take what you need, drench, eat, repeat. This will be a good addition to the lunch lineup.

Fast, cheap, deep fried, and delicious. What more could you want for a quick lunch? I got the 3 piece chicken fingers. HUGE pieces I was very impressed, they where very tasty and not too dry either. The hot sauce and BBQ are also very good. They also give you a piece of bread… I thought that was interesting.
