Monti’s

A mini Philly cheesesteak with fries was pretty filling and delicious. The staff was extremely friendly and I would totally visit next time I’m in town.

I’ve only been to Philly once, and had but one opportunity to try the cheesesteak that city made famous (from Jim’s Steaks on South Street, if it matters), and it was to-​go, eaten in the drab airport terminal in PHL. The bread had gotten a little soggy, the meat had cooled and the cheese had begun to congeal, but despite the depressing décor and sub-​optimal state of my sandwich, I was in love. Cheesy, salty, beefy, the bread had just the right amount of give. It was my favorite sandwich. Period.
Then I flew back to Chicago, and endured the litany of what our famous (and delicious!) hot dog stands call a «Philly Cheesesteak). No. Just no. They’re fine, don’t get my wrong, but they’re not what I licked off the sandwich wrapping in the airport, considering missing my flight to take a cab back into town for another bite. No, they’re a different sandwich entirely.
But Monti’s! (Finally on topic!) Oh, Monti’s. You deliver the sandwich I have craved since that whirlwind three-​day weekend in Philly 5 years ago. Your other food looks great (my wife loved the wings, and the other «Philly» varieties are tempting…) but I will never be in your establishment and not order the Authentic Philly. It is everything I yearn for, and while I still have to credit Jim’s as having my favorite sandwich of all time, yours is my 1B. Thank you for existing.

We come here when we can’t decide what to eat for lunch or dinner. The cheesesteaks are always so good and flavorful. Sometimes, the fries can get a little but salty. But we have tried few cheesesteaks on the menu.
The melted cheese on the cheesesteaks and the steaks is so seasoned but not salty. Love it!

I’ve been wanting to try Monti’s for a hot minute every time I’ve come across it on Unilocal.I’ve never had an authentic Philly Cheesesteak before so I really have nothing to compare it to but I must say that this is the best one I have had thus far.
Parking is a little bit tight but we got lucky with a pay to park spot just around the corner. It was pretty low key on a Saturday night right before 9 so we got seated right away. Although, it got pretty packed before 10 right before they close. Service was excellent throughout our entire dinner. The waitress who helped us was a real sweetheart and always made sure we were checked up on. They also had a pretty sick music selection playing anywhere from Bruno Mars to Fallout Boy to Evanescence– so I was pretty sold already.
We started off with an appetizer of buffalo wings with buffalo sauce. They give you other sauce options like bbq or whatever you ask for really. They were awesome. The buffalo sauce was delicious and the breading was super crunchy and every bite was succulent and juicy. My only complaint was they weren’t jumbo sized like they listed and they only give you 6 so it’s only 3 per person if you’re with another party. Boo. But very good!
I had to try the cheesesteak I mean it really wasnt an option. They have several different kinds like a gyro one and I saw a pizza flavored one too. I decided to not get crazy and start off with an authentic cheesesteak that comes with grilled onions and your choice of cheese: provolone, cheddar, white American, etc. Get the white American cheese-​you won’t be disappointed! They have 3 diff sizes: mini (5″)regular (8″) and the largest one (12″). I got a mini and that was more than enough for me! The steaks come with fries too. The fries were just okay but it was a good combo with the steak so I couldn’t complain-they’re doing something right!
My favorite part of the sandwich was everything but I loved the bread! It was a perfect combo with every bite of the steak and the cheese. It wasn’t soggy and you had a nice crunch that complimented the cheese and steak very well.
Oh! And if you check in on Unilocal they will give you free shit. I checked in and I was offered a lemon ice that I saved for next time.
All in all, great service and great food.

Best philly sandwich, deserves the high ratings, had the Rocky sandwich, bread was hot and crispy, sandwich moist with cheese, a little heat added to the enjoyment.

The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is fun and relaxed. There is a huge beer selection and daily drink specials that are a great deal. I would definitely reccomend this place to anyone looking for a tasty sandwich and a craft beer.

I’ve been to Monti’s about 6 or 7 times over the past 5 months and absolutely love their food, service, and ambiance. I always bring my two little ones (6 and 3), to give Mommy a little break, and they love it too. Their preferences are the hot dog and chicken tenders. They love that they come with fries and I love that you can add carrots too at no charge.
I always get the authentic philly cheesesteak (american cheese is my preference) and it’s literally never disappointed in any visit. It’s not soggy or overtly messy. But a perfect combo of meat and cheese, served piping hot. The beer list is great too, Daisy Cutter for me, and the service has always been really friendly.

Monti’s is the kind of place that’s worth coming back to again and again for their wonderful, warm owners (and the rest of their staff) alone so given that their food is absolutely delicious as well helps me justify eating more cheesesteaks than is medically advisable.
The very first time I went was relatively recently. My friend and I came in on a weekday during a slow hour so it was just us, the bartender and one of the owners working on his laptop at the end of the counter. As we sat down my friend was telling me about this homemade lentil soup she had made the other night which prompted the owner to offer us a sample of their special of the day which just so happened to be lentil soup. They proceeded to compare notes and we all ended up chatting for awhile. The guy was just so welcoming but not in an overbearing way. He obviously genuinely cares about his business and family (there’s sweet pictures of them hanging on the walls) as well as whomever crosses through their door. I’ve been back multiple times since and have felt the same sense of care every time.

Although I’ve eaten here once before, we had carry-​out rather than dining in. The other night me and the bf decided to go here for a date and it was a great experience!
Service was good, the server was attentive and quick, without being invasive.
Food was excellent, it came out quickly, nice & hot and the serving size was great.
The list of beers is impressive! They have Golden Monkey, which is one of my favorites and I was so so happy to see they had it. By bf tried a new IPA and liked it.
The ambiance: I really like the music they play here (think, 90s throwbacks + some rock). It’s a very nice little place for a intimate date or a few drinks and dinner with friends!
Overall a great experience we’ll definitely be back!

I’ve been meaning to come here since it is near my apartment. We decided to get the three cheesesteak sampler, which comes with your choice of any three cheesesteaks and a side of fries. We opted for the authentic Philly cheesesteak, Niko the Greek cheesesteak, and the pizza cheesesteak… All of which were oh so tasty! Don’t forget to check into Unilocal to claim your free Italian ice! We will definitely be back!

Came in with my boyfriend a little after the saturday lunch hour. My girlfriend recommended, spoke very highly of the place after a company lunch. One thing that convinced me to add the place to my list of «you need to try» was the fact that Monti’s offers a vegetarian option. Needless to say, my boyfriend was very excited and really looking forward to trying this place out immediately.
Upon entering Monti’s we were greeted and we seated ourselves. There were 3 other groups dining in, the place seemed a little empty but we didn’t let that get in the way. Our server came over and immediately took our drink order, he also answered all the questions my boyfriend had about the menu and even got a few recommendations out of it.
We came in VERY hungry, we slept in and skipped breakfast. I immediately knew what I wanted. I Had a 12″ Where’s the Beef and a side of French Fries. My boyfriend decided on the 12″ Authentic Philly Cheesesteak with a side of French Fries as well. After ordering we waited with excitement. Unfortunately while we waited I overheard the table across from us ordering and not just ordering a standard Philly Cheesesteak they were adding extra ingredients — I wish I would’ve known that was a thing! Maybe next time I’ll be able to make an order that fits my liking!
The minute our order came out my boyfriend and I were pretty amazed and excited to dig in! Being the Unilocaler that I am, I needed photos! My sandwhich still intact I got the perfect photo to share with my friends and by the time I got to my boyfriend’s dish he was already face to face with his sandwich! Everything was pretty great, from the first bite I didn’t set my sandwich down! You know it’s good when you’re holding on until it’s gone! My boyfriend was so into his sandwich, he barely spoke to me! He stopped once to tell me how amazing it was and it was amazing!
By the end of the meal we were so full and completely satisfied! I immediately got a hold of my girlfriend and thanked her. Definitely adding Monti’s to my recommendations list and knowing what I know now about the place I’ll be more prepared when it comes to ordering! I’ll be looking forward to my next visit and I’m sure my boyfriend will be jumping for joy upon our return!

My husband had a craving for a real Philly cheesesteak, so I found this place on Google and then confirmed that it was good on Unilocal.So glad I found Monti’s! The cheesesteaks are amazing!
We went on a Tuesday evening. It was quiet and we both had a Bloody Mary. We also enjoyed the pretzel appetizer. The cheese sauce was delectable and the pretzels were so fresh.
I loved that they had various cheesesteak sizes. The sample plate looked like a great option, but I couldn’t justify spending $ 19 for that. Instead, I had The Rocky and my husband had The Southside Johnny. The horseradish cream was absolutely amazing. The beef on both sandwiches was so fresh and the bread was perfect.
My only two recommendations: maybe it’s a tourist thing, but in Philly, the cheese is usually cheese whiz. I think Monti’s should offer that on the classic cheesesteak as an option. Also, The Rocky was SO spicy that I had trouble enjoying the flavor. I still enjoyed it so much, but the spice can be cut by about 30%.

Ordered the cheesesteak sampler ($ 18.95 for 3 minis plus fries), picked their authentic philly, southside johnny, and pizza steak. All satisfyingly delicious, hard to pick a favorite. The bf and I both agreed that the southside johnny had a good amount of mushrooms, but its horseradish cream sauce could use a punchier presence. Also, pickles would be reaaalllly nice to have on the side.
Italian water ice free with Unilocal check-​in, yum, except metal cup + metal spoon gave a slight metallic taste.
Friendly service, already looking forward to eating here again.

Went to Monti’s with a group. This was my first time there. They are known for their philly cheese steak sandwiches, so of course I ordered the calamari. It was good. Not over cooked, not chewy, and a fair amount. I would have preferred that the lemon was not deep fried so I could squeeze some on the food. They have a decent bottled beer selection, but I was disappointed about them only having on bet on tap. It is my usual practice to see what’s on tap before I order, but at first I did not see any, but was told they had one beer and it was a pale ale. Not a fan. Overall I had a good experience and I am going to visit them again.

A co-​worker mentioned this place. I’m sure glad he did. A couple from Philly moved to Chicago and opened an authentic Philly Cheesesteak restaurant and bar. If i lived in the neighborhood, i’d be walking here frequently and see it being one of my local hangouts. The service was excellent and server was very knowledgeable he answered all our questions and we had a lot of them. The beer list is awesome. His recommendations were tasty. My brother ordered the South Side Johnny the horseradish sauce was excellent. Fries are fresh and crispy. I ordered the sampler platter, Southside Johnny, Niko the Greek and Original Authentic Philly, all of them were freaking perfect. Can’t wait to go back and try more sandwiches and drink more craft beer!

Being originally an east coast girl, I am soooo pleased to have come across this spot! I called ahead to order, then stopped in to pick up the sammy’s and there were just a few people there. What a cute little place that you’d never expect to be there… or to be any good! Can’t wait to go in sometime to have drinks and cheesesteaks… and try the wings that everyone is raving about.
But the cheesesteaks are absolutely delicious. We tried the cheesesteak sampler with the authentic philly, south side johnny and pizza steak. All were absolutely fabulous! My fave was the authentic philly. My honey’s fave was the SSJ. We went so hard on those subs, it was ridiculous! How nice to bring a little Philly back into my life right when I need it.

Another hidden gem that was recommended by a friend for legit philly cheese steaks. Definitely a place you would not notice if you were drive through this area. Its located on the side street so don’t expect to look for big signs off of Lawrence.
Each time I have ordered The Rocky since I love spicy foods and it is amazing. I have also tried the South side johnny and that is really good as well.
Went there recently because they were recommended for their chicken wings and they are pretty good and pretty big in size.
Make sure to check in while you are there to get a free italian ice dessert!

A friend recommended this place to me because he knows I love philly cheesesteaks. I came with my girlfriend on a Saturday night and to our surprise, it was empty. We got seated and immediately decided to get the Cheesesteak Sampler Platter which gave us an option to try 3 mini versions of the cheesesteaks. We chose the Rocky, Authentic Philly Cheesesteak and the South Side Johnny. Our favorite was the Rocky but honestly, they were all good. I can’t wait to come back to try the rest of the options. We checked in on Unilocal and got a free rainbow italian ice. I liked it, but my gf thought it was too sweet.
I liked the different types of ketchup on the table, especially the spicy one.

Saw this place reviewed on TV, bookmarked it to make sure once in their neighborhood I wouldn’t miss it …
Atmosphere was good … Waitress was good…
Now I am a Philly cheesesteak kinda gal… This sub was not that much different from the steaks subs I get at mall … Sorry … Not sure if it’s bc the one at the mall is as good as this place or I was expecting something better like my favorite joint in Bean Town… Joe’s Subs!!!

This place was better than I expected. I looked this place up on Unilocal because I was feigning for a philly cheese steak. I came here finding out that the WINGS are definitely worth coming back for! Please. if you are a wing lover, please order the Buffalo Wings here… From my understanding. their wing recipe won 1^st place in 2012 or 2013. They’re kind of breaded like hooters, but with a wetter and tangier sauce. Also, these wings are huge! I had a hoagie bun philly and it was ON-​POINT. It tasted so good. I really liked how they brought out the wings first. then when they saw that we were almost done. we then got the phillys out hot and fresh. Our server was very friendly and attentive to our needs.

Me & my boyfriend tried carry out from here today. We both got the authentic Philly cheesesteaks with aged cheddar sauce and fries. Our food was ready super quickly!
The sandwiches were AMAZING. I’ve never been to Philly, so I can’t speak to the authenticness. But what I can say is that I enjoyed every last bite.
The fries were also good. They could have been a little hotter, but they were overall tasty and better than fries you’d get at a lot of other places.
Also, although we didn’t dine in, when I went inside to pick up the food I realized this place is a super neat bar! I’m excited to come back and enjoy a cocktail and sandwich while watching a game.
Only con: the food was VERY expensive (for what you get). The 8″ sandwiches are $ 12 each… which is kind of crazy to be honest. For two sandwiches and an extra order of fries we paid $ 28. Whoah. Not to mention, for $ 12 I was expecting the sandwich to be HUGE, and it was a little on the smaller side.
That being said, if price is no concern, check this place out, the sandwiches are great!
