Well, I’ve ordered twice from 2 locations, Logan and Jackson ave and I can tell their cheesesteak sub might be very good if it wasn’t for the slow delivery. By the time the sandwich got to me, the bread was soggy and inedible. Cold fries. Cold soggy sub. I still ate it. I could tell if would have been delicious if I had ordered it in the restaurant fresh off the grill but since it was 90 minutes later, it wasn’t so good. I still gave 4 stars cause the food is good. They need more efficient drivers.

Some days are just tough. Sometimes a stranger’s words make all the difference. I was back in Chicago a couple of weeks ago for the funeral of my big sister, who left us way too soon. On my last day before I flew home to the East Coast, I decided to walk the neighborhood in search of an Italian Beef, which always makes me feel better. In my grief filled wandering I stumbled into Philly’s Best and ordered a large beef. It was HUGE and so very tasty. With just one open table, an employee jumped up to clear his workspace for me and wiped down the table and chair. After a few minutes he came back and paid me a compliment on my looks and demeanor. I am accustomed to strange men complimenting me and have generally felt rather uncomfortable by it. But this employee, this gentleman, showed both kindness and class. After saying his piece, he made himself scarce and went about his work. He could have no idea how much his gentle words and actions meant on a very hard day for me. Thank you kind stranger. The world will be a better place if we all paid compliments with kindness and not expectation, like you. Next time I’m back in Chicago I will be sure to come back and try a Philly.

When this place is good, it’s AMAZING. But when it’s bad, it’s REALLY bad. And lately, every time I order, it’s bad. My food comes luke warm, the bag is so greasy I am surprised it’s able to contrain what is inside, and the sandwich is usually a smooshed mess. I generally have to throw everything, fries included, in the over a bit. This place is not cheap though. Average delivery order for a sandwich, fries, and a can of soda is about $ 20. $ 20 for food that is barely edible is unacceptable. When you call their store or email their manager, there is no response. I would suggest ordering through GrubHub, because at least their customer service is good and they’ll be able to help you.

For some reason when I travel to other cities to try their regional delicacies, I get this weird over zealous Chicago pride and doubt everything I’m about to eat. When a friend took me to Tony Luke’s, THEEEE place for cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, I was all«well yeah fine I’ll try it but like, I’m from Chicago so this better be good» as if being from Chicago precludes enjoying any other food. That cheesesteak, by the by, was INCREDIBLE and I was immediately disappointed because food that good doesn’t come along every day and Chicago isn’t exactly known for its Philly cheesesteaks. Well, not unless you go to Philly’s Best. A friend had advised me they were the real deal and I was immediately suspicious. After all, real Philly cheesesteaks are a delicate blend of absurdly delicious bread, thin, tender beef, and good old fashioned American cheez-whiz. But lo and behold, Philly’s Best has ALL of that. It’s authentic, greasy, decadent, disgusting comfort food and I love every bite. The bread(get garlic bread, you’re welcome), the meat, the cheese. It comes to you wrapped up all nice and neat but don’t be fooled — it will probably have dripped through the paper and even through the bag before you get it home. The serving size is massive and the taste is unreal. And it’s not even like they only make good sandwiches. Their wings, their fries, even their desserts(fried dough. Get it. Again, you’re welcome) are so, so good. Now that we live in the burbs, I relish every chance I get to come to Philly’s Best and it honestly rivals Kuma’s for my fave thing I can only get in the city. Yeah, that good.

I am into this place. I have never gone inside, only ordered delivery, so I can’t comment on the cleanliness. But my cheesesteak always arrives exactly as greasy as I’d hoped, with slimy onions and delicious melty cheese. I have enjoyed them completely sober. I’ve only gotten cheesesteaks, fries and the dough ball dessert. The other stuff is ok, but the place is called Philly’s Best — in my opinion, the cheesesteak is what’s really good here and everything else is just icing. Delivery always fast and polite. I’ve never had a problem. Perfect for a lazy night of no cooking, a hangover lunch, or to feed your hungry moving team.

This is a great restaurant, I recieve good food from them all the time but I made a mistake and ordered the ½ pound of onion rings with sauce, also I ordered a 14″ pizza with onions and seasoned cheese fries which both were very delicious. The onion rings were tasty but I was expecting ½ pound of hot delicious onion rings, I received eight onion rings and they were not that filling nor anywhere near ½ pound. I received 3.2 ounces and was told that the weight was measured before cooking. I am quite upset that I spent nearly five dollars including tax for something that is advertised as if it could feed multiple people but was less than adequate for one hungry stomach.

I ordered a cheesy beef and there was no cheese I was told that the cheese was put on the bread only. But there was no cheese on the bread and the delivery driver came into my place of work yelling out the cost of my food to everyone around. I called to complain and was told that the cheese was only put on the bread and not the meat, that is fine but do not call it a cheesy beef then call it what it is an Italian beef with no cheese and do not charge so much. I spent $ 18.00 on this order and this will be my last order ever.

The Philly’s Best cheese steak sanwhiches are delicious most of the time & use pretty good beef. If you have the extra few bucks get the extra beef because otherwise there is little difference in food quantity between the regular large steak and the regular small steak. If you live near one it’s better to eat in rather than to get delivery because the fries & sandwich bread are usually overly soggy by the time they get it to your door.

Place is hit or miss. Usually come for hangover food. Last time I got delivery they had the completely wrong address and got mad at ME when I checked I had given them the right address.

Amazing! I ordered for delivery. Came in the exact estimated time. Delivery guy was a bit rude, but that’s not the point. The food was unbelievably great. I just randomly picked this place out on grubhub and best choice I’ve made. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was perfect. It wasn’t greasy but the meat wasn’t dry either. It was so tasty. And the fries awesome as well. I love this place and will be ordering from here more often. As well as recommending it to my friends. :)

Looking for the best Philly cheese steak in Chicago brought me to this place. After looking at what they had to offer I went for a small meatball sandwich(it looked just too delicious to pass up), some seasoned fries with the works, and a large steak. They offer lots of different choices for your sandwiches including turning the bread into garlic bread(which I opted for of course). Service was fast and the cashier was nice. The steak was amazing, one of the best I’ve had in years and deserving of the name«Philly’s Best». You can tell they bring in the meat from a different place than the other Chicago restaurants and their mediocre sandwiches. The meat was crisp, juicy, flavorful and well seasoned. Not forgetting they put a lot of meat on the sandwich as well. With the good comes the bad however. The meatball sandwich was extremely bland and disappointed me greatly. The perfectly melted cheese, Italian seasoning and garlic bread didn’t help at all. It was like all of those things came together to make one big soul destroying, disappointing sandwich. The fries were pretty good, the bacon, sour cream and cheddar cheese tasted great altogether. There was enough to last me until the next day as well which was a plus.

A friend and I were greatly longing for Philly’s best. It was a busy evening, we had much to do, were out of the delivery zone and had no time to pick it up. We decided to call and see if arrangements could be made. To our delight, they were more than accommodating. For a very nominal fee, we were able to place our order and get our scrumptious food! The chicken steak sandwich hit the spot for my friend where as I cannot ever stray from the chicken breast grinder. We were seriously starving and ordered sides and had enough to feed the charming third person that was with us. Perfect– all around! They were wonderful to be so accommodating! We will be calling again!

Ordered about 40 bucks worth of food from grubhub and was highly dissatisfied. Although food arrived 5 mins early everything was falling apart and soaked in grease when we got it. One of the sandwiches was completely wrong as well. Since we paid cash grubhub said they couldn’t give us a refund unless the driver would come back(which he didn’t). The guy working for grubhub told us the guys at Phillys said they won’t remake, or refund anything because he knew he did our order himself lol. save your money guys! Pics posted 2÷22÷14

Ok so… 1st this is the best cheese steak in Chicago I could go on for paragraphs but everyone knows or SHOULDKNOWBYNOW. 2nd I think the best pizza in chicago as well… With a couple caveats. Ok so thick is usually too doughy for me, and most thins, the box it comes in tastes better. If you want a true treat… order the«medium» crust. A crispy chewey managatois!!! Sometimes it needs a quick visit to the toaster oven to crisp the crust back up if after its delivered, if you have a few more beers before devouring right when it comes. 3rd no one is perfect but the couple very MINOR problems iv had were dealt with and followed up by a call by the owner the next day… who does that awsome!!! # customer for life

I stopped in this restaurant tonight to try one of their Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches and was pleasantly surprised. The reason is I’m probably the only 50 year old in the entire city that has never had a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich before. My preconceived ideas that kept me from trying it all these years was completely wrong I’m happy to say. I was afraid that the sandwich would be greasey and have a strong greasey flavor, but thankfully the meat was nice and moist(without being greasey) with excellent flavor. I can’t say it’s better than others since I’ve never had one before, but I can say I wish I’d tried them many years before now after eating here. That’s ok I’ll just have to make up for lost time by coming back frequently. It was very tasty and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others. The staff was friendly and made me feel welcome. I got to sit and chat with Dean the owner for a while and had a nice conversation. Basically it was just a real good experience. He asked me for honest input on my thoughts about his establishment and I felt at ease talking with him and I always appreciate it when an owner asks for honest feedback about his establishment. The décor of the restaurant is not anything to get excited about, but hey it’s a sandwich and pizza shop. I found the clean and not overdone interior to be exactly what I want a sandwich place to be. When I want a good sandwich all I’m looking for is good flavors and a clean environment and that’s exactly what I got here. If I had one suggestion to make to this place is that maybe they should encourage customers to order large sandwiches instead of the regular size. I got the regular size and it certainly filled me up, but the gluttonous side of me was screaming for more. Oh well, I’ll know better next time and get the large size and that way I can pig out until it hurts. Overall if you’re looking for a good sandwich stop in and try their Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. It’s a winner!

I like this place– It is nothing fancy, but good quality food at a fair price, the service is great, I always call ahead, and my order is ready when I arrive. I like the cheesy beef, I’m a fan .I don’t usually order fries .but I did yesterday, and they are always done, just right. Again, nothing fancy here, When it comes to a beef sandwich, I think this is a better value than other places.

As someone who has lived in Philly for four years, I finally resigned to try this place out. When I first moved here, I was totally put off by the fact that a «Philly Cheese Steak» was nothing more than a roast beef sandwich. Okay, so it was at some tourist place on the Navy Pier, but nevertheless it was upsetting. I then realized that Chicagoans go for the beef, not the cheesesteak. After a couple other failed attempts, I gave up on trying to find A Philadelphia equivalent. Anyway… I ordered from this place a couple times, and I must say I am reasonably impressed. After going to some different places in Philly I realized that a lot of places can’t get it right. There was one slight mix up on my first order but one of the owners, Dean, was really nice and quick to call me and apologized for the mess up. These guys are actually from Philly too, and I can definitely taste the authenticity in the steaks. It has been a long time since I’ve been back to Philadelphia for a hoagie, but this is definitely the best I’ve had in Chicago.
