Bought a pair of sunglasses from here. Excellent customer service and attention to detail. They are pricey but are well made. Mario helped me find a pair of sunglasses that complements my face really well. He’s not afraid to tell you what he thinks does or doesn’t work and why. Definitely would come back.

WARNING. Extremely disappointing service and policies. Strongly recommend that this retailer of upscale eye wear be AVOIDED. I purchased a high-end frame with the intent of having my optician make lenses for the frame. I was informed that only MF was capable of working with the delicate material … unfortunately I was unable to see out of the glasses. After returning to another MF store, was remeasured and then«premium lenses»(note that my $ 2,000 pair of glasses did not originally come with the premium lenses) ordered. Again, no ability to see clearly with my new glasses. The second MF retailer claimed that a FedEx return label would be provided so I could return the defective glasses, …then I was informed that«corporate» had a policy of NORETURNS. At no point over the 6 week ordeal was the ridiculous and unfair«NORETURN» mentioned. Can not emphasize enough that this retailer be AVOIDED.

I recently moved to Chicago from New York and was pleased to find Morgenthal Frederics had a store in Chicago. I’d been very happy with the service, experience and product quality in New York. I feel I’ve found my new optical home on Oak Street. The optician that helped me pick my new frames, Doug Rutherford, seemed to have the same experience and depth of knowledge I was accustomed to in New York. I was reassured to learn he’s a licensed optician. I have a very difficult prescription, very near sighted with prism and he was very confident in his recommendations. I purchased one of their bone frames with hi definition lenses as well as prescription sunglasses. I’ve had the glasses for a couple months and am very happy. My Wife, too, was impressed and will be picking her new glasses there soon.

After visiting the shop and needing follow up I was called back 2 ½ mo this later. I asked why it took him so long to which I never got an acceptable answer only excuses and skied hi if he expected me to sit and wait for his call. Needless to say I would not give them my business.

I think that the selection at Morgenthal Frederics is outstanding, the pricing fair, and the staff(DOUG, in particular) extremely accommodating. I have referred friends who have also been very happy. Quite often, you aren’t offered presentable, polite, and knowledgeable staff when shopping. The potential customer will find this combination at Morgenthal. I know nothing about their examinations, but they stand by their products, and the workmanship of the lenses is excellent. I’m pretty critical and have worn glasses almost all of my life. Plenty of experience — which has allowed me to give this shop and its eyeglasses a five-star rating.

Good selection of unique frames of quality construction. Moreover, I felt as though I was guided well during the frame selection process. The process went so smoothly that we bought another frame from their sister store on Michigan Ave. The only problem emerged while purchasing the second frame. There were price discrepancies between what we had paid at the two stores; when we inquired at the Michigan Ave store they directed us back to this location. I called and left a voice mail without a response. I then emailed the corporate office and still heard no reply. I then challenged the difference through my credit card company and only then did they reply — but to my credit card company. I have yet to hear from them beyond that they’re sticking to their price differences. Disappointing post purchase service. particularly given the prices. I would have thought that their prices reflected the quality of their product as well as their service.

When I was calling around to different places to figure our who I wanted to give my to, Mary, the representative told me the service would be $ 85.00 flat for a contact fitting. Let me be clear in saying the DOCTOR was GREAT! Amazing, best eye doctor ever. Checking out, the bill was $ 275.00!!! I couldnt believe it. Come to find out they were charging me $ 150.00 for a toric fitting. I asked them at the desk to try and work with me, nope they werent budging. I then called later to speak with a manger, Doug, who said word for word” Nobody would tell you that everything would be $ 85.00, you knew that wasnt true“ I could not believe my ears! He indirectly called me a liar and just kept telling me” I knew“ Bottom line, calling me a liar and telling me I knew something when I didnt, being rude and making me feel like Im in the wrong is NOT acceptable. Again, I loved the Doctor but I will not ever go back here due to the horrible experience that I had. Also, when I wanted to get contacts, 1 – 800 contacts called in the early afternoon(monday) to get my prescription approved, the representative didnt even tell the doctor! Now I have to wait until the doctor is in on friday to get approved-all because the representative didnt care enough. Not a good process, not good customer service, not happy at all.

Mario at Optica has been my family’s glasses provider for years because he is excellent. He sells high fashion eyewear and understands lenses, too(I have complicated ones). He has corrected the work of other opticians. Service is excellent, when you buy glasses here, they take care of you. They sell high fashion, prices reflect that but you look your best and they last. His colleague Doug has the same ethos.

I had a similar expeience to the review by Jon T. The sales reps are thieves and do not know what they are doing. My wife purchase two pair of glasses from an arrogant sales rep who clearly had no idea of what he was doing. When the glasses arrived(late), the lenses were not at all as described and my wife couldn’t see out of them. The rep misrepresented the types of glasses my wife could wear. Worst off, we had to pay over $ 3,000 in advance and now we’re stuck trying to get glasses from them that they cannot deliver what he promised. They refuse to offer a credit or negotiate with us. BUYERBEWARE!!! Once they have your credit card, you are through. Check other reviews to confirm this. We are not the only ones to be taken advantage of by this band of thieves.
