I loved this restaurant, but it closed and has reopened under a new name with new ownership.

If you are in Rogers Park and Great Wall Chinese Restaurant(6748 N Sheridan Rd) is out of the way for you, then Ms Eggroll 2 will work, but the food is not very good. The meat is constantly chewy and lacking in flavor.

Cheap, greasy, delicious Chinese food. If you’re looking for gourmet, you’re in the wrong place, people. I walked in for carryout, and they were super quick(and busy) at 9pm on a Thursday. The chicken fried rice was a HUGE portion(I got a small), and super tasty. The rice was obviously not super high quality, but it tasted fantastic so who cares? I also got the shrimp lo mein, which was okay, but not fantastic. I love greasy salty Chinese food, but the lo mein was so soaked in sodium I thought it might suck the moisture right out of me. The shrimp was good though, and a nice size. Good noodles and lots of veggies. One downside, it’s next to the El so you run into some interesting people. There was a man begging for change from everyone waiting, and the staff took no notice(it’s basically an open kitchen with a counter). It was getting close to the point of harrassment. And sure, the place isn’t super clean looking, but I mean… who cares? You want cheap Chinese, you got it!

Used to live a couple blocks from here and it was my go-to Chinese place. I don’t understand why people care what the place looks like, its take-out. But since people are criticizing it let me offer a defense: A favorite quote of mine is «if the waitress has dirt on her ankles you know the chili is good»(the late great Al McGuire). Although this place is Chinese, not chili, I’d say the same applies. Unassuming and unpretentious bars and restaurants like Ms Eggroll are what I loved about Rogers Park, and Glenwood Ave in particular. They aren’t the nicest looking places, but its affordable, pretty good tasting and you meet some interesting characters along the way. This place is quintessential Rogers Park. You don’t like it, move to Lakeview. Food is above average. General Tsao’s and the honey chicken are both good dishes. Big portions and its cheap. If your order is over $ 15 they throw in a free egg roll.

You’ve gotta be kidding me, right? People give this place more than one star? I lived a block away from this place for over two years around 2002 and quite frankly I’m amazed it’s still open. I used to go there when really there was nothing else open, at all. Cleanliness was never a strong point and neither was the taste of the food. If I recall correctly, the egg drop soup was fine but everything else was hardly even decent for a dingy little takeout place. When I think back to my days in Rogers Park, I sure the hell don’t think about this place! But they must be doing something right to still be open nearly 10 years later.

I just moved here and this was the first Chinese place I went to. I tried to order dumplings which is what it says on the menu and the lady doesn’t understand me and then finally says oh potstickers. Instead of it being served with dumplings sauce it’s served with sweet and sour chicken sauce. I ordered steamed and it tasted undercooked and very gooey. For my first Chinese experience in Chicago I was completely turned off.

I’ve ordered food from here twice so far. I thought the places off Argyle were shoddy but this place literally is bare bones open kitchen(I’ve used hole-in-the-wall too much in other reviews). But this place is perfect for take out. Workers are generally nice. The first time I ordered here I had sesame chicken(good), hot & sour soup(really spicy, but perfect), crab rangoon(yummy) and ginger beef(which wasn’t that good to be honest). The next time I ordered I got the soup again(mild this time) and also the honey shrimp. Can I just say that this was sooo delicious?! These were jumbo shrimp too(dare I say prawns?) and they were glazed over with a honey dressing, atop lettuce shreds(which were kind of old), but it was good nonetheless. I think I found my new favorite item!

For being the closest place in my neighborhood to get Chinese food, I give them 4 stars. I’ve been there multiple times and have been happy with the food I’ve ordered each time. The food is made to order and cheap. Owners are friendly.

Let me preface by saying that when I ordered from there, I was not expecting even to have a good meal at all… but at least some form of edible food. I do walk past this restaurant constantly and it really is the greasiest Chinese carryout place you can find. I ordered the Orange Chicken Special and fried rice. Not only was the food bad, but it was completely inedible!!! Some people on here wrote as a positive they give large portions, but what is the point if you can’t even eat the large portions? I was initially weary because I could not find their menu online at all; I have noticed that all the really bad carryout restaurants have opted out of displaying their menus on the internet(is it because they care so little about their food that they don’t want to market it online, or are they just as lazy as their food preparation.?) Do not order from there(even if you have a need for greasy food while drunk)… horrible!

The few times we’ve ordered a la cart, the food has been really good. Just stay away from the lunch specials.

Vegetable egg rolls are not bad-4 stars. Mongolian Beef –3 stars, and cannot even compare to Mee Mah’s. Orange Chicken– yuck, chicken was dry, no juice at all, chewy and it tasted yucky. Each one of the two dinners we ordered was enough for two meals really… which is not uncommon for Chinese in my experience, and we paid a little bit under $ 18.00 for our order.

I love greasy, dirty«chop shop» Chinese food, and a friend of mine recommended this place to me when I moved to the area. I’ve ordered from them many, many times and have always enjoyed it! Can’t beat the prices, the fried rice is incredible, as is the egg foo young. Delivery can take a bit, so call before you get to the«starving» phase if having delivered. It’s just a hop, skip and a jump from the Morse Red Line stop, so it may be quicker to pick up. All in all, it’s not the prettiest, trendiest or even friendliest, but if you like good, no-bullsh1t Chinese, this is the place to go.

I used to live around the corner from Ms. Eggroll #2 Chinese Vietnamese Cuisine Restaurant(as the sign officially declares its name to be) and LOVED this place. Sure it wasn’t the cleanest place in the world, but the food always hit the spot. Even after I moved south to Edgewater, i still made that special trip to visit Ms. Eggroll for her delightful delicacies straight from her wok infused with MSG. My favorite: General Tso’s Chicken. MMMM delicious. Best part: Ms. Eggroll(that was my nickname for the older Asian woman who worked behind the counter) always had commentary on my order. I loved her, and I miss the food. Gotta get back up to Rogers Park and get me some grub.

Ms. Egg Roll #2 is not much to look at, but its got it where it counts. My favorite way to do it is carry out, because the food comes piping hot right out of a wok that’s probably cooked thousands of combos of ingredients. I find the food quite good actually. I suggest a $ 2 veggie upgrade in your Orange Chicken. The wings and the ribs are super tasty too. And the portions are gigantic. Try the chicken wings and ribs too. Formidable, tasty, and spicy. Had many an awesome Ms. Egg Roll #2 dinner & movie night. All the right basics and very good prices.

Easily accessible, right off the morse red line. They have the best lunch specials, so much food for so cheap, and it’s very delicious. I have never been disappointed!

I really, really wanted to like this place. It has a heated eating counter with large windows overlooking the bar traffic on Glenwood Ave, making for some great people-watching. Unfortunately, the food I ordered last time bordered on inedible. Rogers Park continues to fail miserably in the Chinese takeout department.

I agree that this place is best visited when drunk and in serious need of any kind of food. ANYKIND. It isn’t BAD Chinese food, it just certainly isn’t good, and there is definitely much better Chinese food out there in the world. Unfortunately it’s stumbling distance from home and my husband is a fan. In my experience, the food is insanely greasy and congeals into a solid lump the next day. Which only makes me think about what it does in my stomach.

Reasonable prices. Not a dine-in place, take out or delivery recommended. All the food I’ve gotten from them has been excellent and very affordable. Not a book to be judged by it’s cover.

When I crave Chinese food, this is NOT the place that comes to mind. «Oh Ms Eggroll, you are not the cleanest place to order food from.» The only time I want to eat here is when I have the drunk munchies. Even then I will only order something simple, like egg rolls or sweet and sour chicken(which is decent). You receive a lot of mediochre food for your dollar.

Delicious Chinese carry out for great prices. The large fried rice runs about $ 6 and I eat it for 3 meals. Haven’t had anything that wasn’t good here. There’s only a few stools at a counter for seating but if you’re looking for good carry out, I highly recommend. I think it beats out China Hut hands down.
