This store is amazing! I stopped by last week and was amazed by all of the designer clothes, shoes and accessories. Tory Burch, 7 for Mankind, Burberry, Prada, Eileen Fisher, Lululemon, Coach, RL, Lily Pulitzer, Chloe, and Marc Jacobs just to name a few. I was also surprised to see so many items with their original price tags still attached. Great book selection, unique antiques and vintage items, huge assortment of housewares and décor. Overall great place for collectors, designers, pickers or people who are just looking for nice merchandise at reasonable prices.

They don’t deserve a one-star review, since I’ve not actually been to the shop. At least, not the INSIDE. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon with well over 45min prior to closing time and didn’t get in. The sign on their door clearly stated that they were open until 6pm, but no, doors were locked by 5:10, and the lights were out. The«OPEN» sign was still up, too. When I looked through the glass door, I caught the sight of another door swinging close. SOMEBODY had just gone through it to head to — presumably — the store’s back room. I can’t imagine they did not see me peering through the glass door of a sunny afternoon after tugging on the door handle. So, they get a «Meh» review, for not doing what their own signs say! A bit of consistency goes a long way.

This posting is LONG over due. The new manager has totally revamped this store. I have been a long time patron of Nearly New and loved the great deals I found here on household items and clothes. However, with it’s new look and inventory– it has easily become one of my favorite resales shops. I got designer clothes(Vera Wang jacket BRANDNEW with tags still attached) for a fraction of the retail price. The new manager has not only cleaned up the inventory, but the store itself. She has rearranged the entire set up of the store so that is is much easier to shop in and more room to do searching for those amazing deals. She has really put her experience to good use here. I will continue to shop here for amazing deals and look forward to any more improvements the new management has brought with her.

For a whopping $ 16.47, I purchased a perfectly fitting DKNY black blazer, an adorable white sexy button down, & an impossibly perfect charcoal gray pleated skirt with a black ribbon belt. «You just saved me a ton of money,» I told the lovely lady working there. Best part? All of the proceeds go to the St. Vincent de Paul Center(a mission of the Daughters of Charity — yes, I’m cribbing from the pamphlet she gave me when I said I would most definitely Unilocal about this place), which«provides critical programs and services in the areas of Child Development, Social Services, Senior Services, and Homeless Outreach.» So my insanely good bargain = doing some good beyond moving product off the shelf. I feel good in more ways than one about my purchase there. Go.

If only I could give this amazing little spot more than 5 stars! I was looking for a great used bike. Found a vintage road bike for $ 225. Guys there were helpful. The first day I came to look for a bike, they had about three bikes that were my size, but I wasn’t crazy about any of them. Came back the next day and they had gotten two more in that were my size. If you find one that you like, grab it quickly. But for $ 225, what do you have to lose?!

Aside from me missing it being right across from TOAST, I really did please my mom– she got some fantastic dishes– I found some awesome fabric and some glassware– there is a framed print I almost regret passing on– but in the end I know the clock I have in my dreams is what I want– they had a lot of clothes, but I’m in housewares mode– seemed like women were really happy with the fill a bag 10 dollar sale going on!

Colleen beat me to reviewing this place first. It’s a hidden gem, shh. And since we couldn’t recall it’s name for years, we(my family) have referred to it as «Toast .» Yeah, Toast is across the street. Like any Thrift store it’s hit or miss, but generally the goods are not stained, torn nor look like stunt doubles for a homeless person’s wardrobe, maybe for Maude or Edith Bunker. PS I have found some great Catholic kitsch in here.

I live up the street from this store, I’ve walked by it a zillion times never stopping in until today. The shop is part of the St. Vincent De Paul Center, that new-ish looking building across the street from Glascott’s. The Center provides programs, services and outreach for children, seniors and the homeless. The shop is a little on the small side and the aisles narrow, but they make good use of the space. The store is bright, clean and lacks that musty thrift store aroma. I came in to look at clothes and accessories, but struck out. However, I was pleasantly surprised by their book selection. What they lack in quantity they make up for in quality, the books were all in good condition and most were best sellers over a variety of genres. Priced at $ 1 for hardbacks and $.50 for paperbacks I couldn’t resist browsing and later leaving with 3 books. The CD selection was again small, but pretty good too; CD’s were priced at $ 3 each. There were a number of titles I had in my own collection, but nothing I wanted enough to add to it. They had a pretty impressive selection of dish sets and antique glasses and dishes. Next time my mom comes over I think we’ll make a stop, there were a few items I know are right up her alley.

Ok, did I really go here? I mean, I think I did. Right after breakfast at Toast… But, I look it up on Unilocal. On Google. On various other engines of the technical sort, and I see no record of it. I am almost positive its affiliated with Children’s Memorial(The Women’s Auxiliary Board), but… again, I can’t find any evidence. If you know, holla! I’ll update the listing. Did I dream up this well-organized, mothball free, sweet little old(nun) lady-run place? No, methinks not. It’s there! I promise. Right across from Toast on Webster. Swear on my thrift-lovin’ life. It’s small, but well kept and tidy. Things are clearly marked, and well-priced to moved. Most everything is in great condition. The perks: –Lots of great jewelry pieces. I scored a pretty nifty bracelet for $ 2. –Also, 2 pairs of sunglasses for $ 4 each. –A good selection of housewares(hear that LP/DePaul kids?! go!) –Vintage suitacases. I left an electric blue leather one there… sigh. I wanted it, but have no room. –The clothes are organized by SIZE. AMEN, nuns. Way-to-be.(I never could understand places that categorize by color, huh?) The drawbacks: –No dressing room. –Cash only. –Some lucky lady got to a pair of hot black heels right before me(sob). Most definitely worth a stop in on your next thriftin’ mission, or when you are waiting in the unGodly lines at Toast. :)
