I sent my Sony Vaio laptop in for repair in 2004 along with a check for approximately 300 dollars to get it repaired. When Chris first shipped it back, the unit didn’t even turn on, so I sent it back to get re-​repaired.
After several weeks of hearing nothing, I repeatedly left voice messages and e-​mails with the company, but kept receiving the run around, until Chris admitted to losing my laptop!
We mutually agreed on a payment plan for the fair market value of the laptop, but I only received a few checks here and there. I was still owed 400 dollars, but received a notice from Chris’s lawyer that he was filing for bankruptcy and that I could no longer contact him for the remaining balance.
From then, I’ve received no communication in good faith by Chris regarding the balance of the payment owed to me, and there’s nothing I can do to compel them to make the right ethical decision and pay me what I’m due.
Overall, I would not recommend doing business with this company, and would send any future laptop to a reputable manufacturer for repair, however much more it would cost.
