This place doesn’t surprise or disappoint! Little bit run down on the inside, but that doesn’t matter because the prices are low and the food is good. They take credit card, there’s a restroom for customers, and parking lot on site. $ 6.95 for two Chicago style hot dogs on poppy seed buns with all the fixings(mustard, ketchup, onion, relish, pickled hot peppers, quarter pickle slice, celery salt), side of small fries and a small fountain soda pop — wow, I love to eat, and this was almost too much food. Completely hit the spot. No free refills, but you can get cold water from the cooler, or pay for refills. Fries are soo crispy salty delicious! $ 6.95 for a Gyro — real fluffy pita bread, fresh tomatoes, onion and lots of sauce. This will not dry out your mouth! Meat was made of lamb and beef, and was moist and flavorful. You can get the Gyro plate for $ 8.95 and add a soda. A lot of people coming in and getting sandwiches or grilled chicken. Their Italian beef sandwich seems to be a hit at $ 6.95 each. The most expensive thing on the menu is the deep fried seafood platter for $ 11.95, flounder, shrimp, scallops, and fries. They have a condiments station with celery salt, S&P, ketchup, mustard and plastic utensils. Definitely coming back again!

I really wanted to like this place because I’ve been looking for a good fast food joint since moving to Rogers Park. My son and I each ordered the Italian beef dipped with hot peppers, small fries, and medium sodas– the food was NOTGOOD. This was basically something that was grabbed out of a freezer bag, heated up, and then assembled together in 2.5 minutes. The meat was flavorless and chewy and the au jus used to dip the sandwich was not good either. Unfortunately the(what tasted like frozen fries) fries didn’t get any better, they too were flavorless. My son is 18 and literally eats everything, but he too had a difficult time finishing his dinner. On the upside, the customer service was good and so was are sodas. Last but not least, the way I see it, if you can’t provide your customers with a decent Italian beef sandwich, just don’t have it on your menu.

A nice little greasy spoon with friendly folks and decent food. The gyros sandwich and fries were fine, though a few more fries would’ve been appreciated. Add a drink, and the total was over $ 11 – a tad on the pricey side compared to other short order places I’ve eaten in.

Today was my first time there. People have recommended them to me so I decided to try it. The people were friendly. I ordered the Chicken breast sandwich(on French bread) and fries. I enjoyed the food and the price was decent. I will return being that I work down the street from there.

My first time visiting, I ordered an Italian Beef dipped with hot peppers and a small order of fries with a small fruit punch drink. The beef was mediocre. Nothing special to remember about it. Even after adding extra peppers on it, it still tasted a bit plain but not bad. The fries were nice and crispy, I was upset I didn’t order a large amount. The fruit punch is also delicious. The total was about 10 dollars, ehhh. If I ever come back here I would stick to the basic. Fries and a drink.

Great food and even better service! Couldn’t be better! Kids love the burgers and hot dogs. Chicken kabob plate and rice is awesome too!

Leo and his family are like our family. Great dogs and burgers, along with chicken and gyros. Reasonable prices. Say hi to all the coppers who are loyal to the place

The burgers here are incredible! They have an awesome flame grilled taste, and are made with a lot of care. The fries are nice and crispy, and perfectly seasoned. And the service is always fast and accurate. I have dined here(or gotten take out) at least a dozen times, and thought that I should recommend this fantastic burger joint.

In my neighborhood and oh so glad it is! Love there food, the service and the free parking! Good size location, very clean and good portions. A little pricey for some items, but hey if you don’t like it go to McDonald’s. You get what you pay for. Our favorite is the burgers — but everything is great. My kids love their hot dogs, and they are fussy eaters. Right next to the Edgewater library, and across from Whole foods. We get a lot done after our lunch here on Saturday’s. Go on over you will be happy you did.

I’ve been going to this place since I was 12. When I worked at the Library next door I would frequent this place very much. There is something about their sauce for the Gyro that brings back good memories. The neighborhood is changing and you have to appreciate a classic Chicago Bite to Eat place like Patio Beef. Grabbing a bag of fries and heading to my old Comic Shop or home to play video games made my day. Now I left a year ago and came back to visit with my new family. It made me happy to bring my wife to the place I grew up eating at, she loved the fries of course. I had to eat an Italian Beef because they do it so right. She was in love with the Old Chicago Attitude and Accent that is in the place. Lots of regulars. Tears filled my eyes. The same friendly daughters work there, looks like Dad is too. Thank you guys for filling my belly for so many years. I will always come back for a bite to eat whenever I am in the neighborhood. So folks… It really is places like this that make Chicago feel like Chicago.

Wow it’s been many years since I stopped in here! The gyros was as good as it gets! The staff is friendly and place is super clean! Got to catch part of the Bulls game on the big screen! Good to see this place still in business after all these years!

Gyro plate with onion and tomato, topped with musturd, the original Greek way to eat gyros.

We’re new to the neighborhood but this clean, cheery Mom-n-Pop store has become one of our favorites. Food is fast, fresh and reasonably priced. This is not gourmet fare but it’s pretty darn good diner food. We particularly like the burgers and fish sandwich but have had several meals that were tasty and filling. Onion rings were soggy and greasy one time, so maybe the fryer temp was too low that day. Give them a try when you’re craving some Chicago style comfort food. BTW, they DO take visa & mc, contrary to Unilocal

I love this place. The owners are friendly and the food is flavorful and fresh. You must try the chicken kabobs and the gyros. The meats are so tender and savory. I’ve had so many dry gyros, but their’s are amazing. They have a pretty good menu, so your definitely going to find something you’ll like.

I love Patio Beef! You wouldn’t think that you could get a healthy meal at a place like this, but I’m addicted to their Greek Salad with a chicken kabob on top. The salad comes with Romaine lettuce, feta cheese, red onions, pepperoncini, stuffed grape leaf, kalamata olives, tomatoes and cucumber. The chicken kabob is delicious, perfectly grilled and seasoned. This is served with a delicious lemon vinaigrette. Yum! Another favorite for me on their menu is the Grecian Chicken. It’s ½ chicken served with a side salad and rice. The food is a great value and the family that owns the place are friendly and welcoming.

I love this place, great food, friendly service. I always get a few things because it’s so hard to decide on just one item. Foot long Chicago dog, Tom Tom Tamale, fries, burgers. Hands down, It’s all really good

One of my favorite neighborhood hot dog joints. They know service, food, and are fast. Love the combo options and all the choices. On a nice day, sit outside and watch the hippies at Whole Foods and all the drama Edgewater can bring.

A basic little short order joint. I probably won’t come back for the dogs, as they were only average. What was delicious here is the Italian Beef — wet! Clean, quick and friendly. Good option for a Chicago style lunch if you’re in the area.

Gyros are good but the cheeseburger might be one of the best kept secrets on the north side. It’s a char-burger so if that’s not your game, walk on. If it is your game then walk in and meet some of the nicest folks in Edgewater. They want to feed you fattening foods, but from where I come from that’s love. Patio!

I’ve never ordered or eaten a loose meat sandwich before. After Patio Beef, I won’t have to eat at all for about 3 days. They take a bun, stuff it with loose beef, and then submerge the entire meal in beef ‘juice.’ The sandwhich was brutal, cheap, and fast. Excellent and friendly service.
