Not sure but I think this location is closed? The number does not connect and I no longer see this location on the Pompei website. I will stop by again soon to confirm.

good quality italian food at reasonable prices — the strudels will get you the bang for your buck — be sure to pick up a menu on the way in before ordering and use the coupons inside — they had the«punch» card until about a month ago which will give you $ 10 card on your 10th visit — bring the ‘punch” card back! everyone deserves chances so i will occasionally re-visit establishments that did not get favorable reviews from me in hope that they have addressed the issues and will revise my views accordingly

Here’s what I know… after a day spent drinking and sweating at the Blues Fest, the Italian beef and Heart Healthy Pizza Strudel I consumed may very well have been the best things I’ve ever eaten. In fact, my hubbo liked it so much that he revisited when on biz travel and consumed another Italian beef. A multitude of food options and very reasonably priced — if I lived here, I would definitely frequent it. Guess we went at an off time, as we were, literally, the only patrons chowing down. It is worth noting that the tables could used a good old-fashioned wipe down.

Inexpensive — Tasty — and Quick Service. Aren’t those the three elements we all desire in a restaurant? Well — I’ve had everything from the Meatball Sandwich to the Baked Minestrone soup onto the Handmade Pastas. But before I continue I have something to admit. If the service was inefficient, the place was too small and the crowds too large but the pasta tasted like«everything I’ve ever wanted outta life» on a plate — then I’m GAMED. So I maaaaay be a tad biased because I’m a pasta lover! And these guys DOPASTA at an extremely inexpensive price — when factoring in the taste and large portions. I won’t blah you with grades of the dishes or inundate you with details of the flavors, I’ll be frank. If you like great pizza, great pasta and you’d love to experience little Italy in downtown Chicago’s backyard — at a GREAT price — Pompei is your spot!

When I lived in Streeterville a few years ago this place was always busy and the food was consistently good. It’s been a while since we have been back, but we stopped in one Friday night recently before a trip to the movies and I was shocked to see only 2 occupied tables in the whole place. An unexpected change for sure. Between the service and the food quality, the whole experience was all pretty underwhelming. The iced tea machine was basically empty and the fountain drinks watery. My salad was wilty and our cheesy garlic bread was basically mozzarella melted on some stale sandwich rolls. I could do that at home. This used to be a standby for a good quick dinner when we lived around the corner, but after this last time I am not so sure we will be back any time soon.

Don’t come here expecting gourmet, best tasting Italian food. It’s not a fancy joint. It’s more of a cafeteria atmosphere — you walk-in, walk across the long counter of food displayed; pick the food you want; and then pay in the end. The pasta is bland; the Italian beef is too expensive for how it tastes. BUT I still give it a 3-star because of their pizza. Their pizza is quite decent.

The food here isn’t the most flavorful, but it is freshly and quickly made, and they have a decent selection of pastas, pies, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. If you’re craving Italian for a quick lunch, Pompei is an excellent place. The prices do run a bit high for what you’re getting, but that’s to be expected for streeterville. However, Pompei has various money saving promotions in the form of mailed coupons, $ 10 off your first online order, and a $ 5 coupon for joining their mailing list. Overall, a good place to go for lunch, and, if you take advantage of their money saving promotions, a very budget-friendly meal.

Great little Italian Cafeteria style place. Prices are reasonable, food is decent quality, and overall very convenient.

You’d think this was a great place for some quick lunch eats. With all those people working behind the counter and servers delivering to tables every few minutes you’d think a measly small ceasar salad and brownie would take no time at all. WRONG! I waited for over 25mins for a ceaser salad, which by the way tasted HORRIBLE. No flavor, no parmesean cheese, three croutons. I had to douse the entire thing with 2 dressings and it still tastes like something i would never feed a human. You can definetely tell my salad was made as a last resort reaction when i inquired about my order and it was said that it was«being worked on.» WHAT is being worked on in a salad? Are you growing the lettuce? Finally, when i asking for a manager he did nothing to help. NEVER again. Suggestion: find somewhere else for taste and service.

This is the only Pompei location that I’ve been to, but I love it– it’s a fantastic lunch option. Looking at some other Unilocal reviews, I’m wondering if perhaps the other locations are of a different style? As a lunch option, this one is fast, cheap and delicious, with plenty of seating so you never have to worry about finding a table. The caprese salad is amazing. Actually, I would assume anything with their olive oil and mozzarella would be amazing. The mozz is fresh made and one of my favorites in the city. I could eat it 3 times a day and still want more. The soups and pastas are also really good. I haven’t had the pizza though, as I will admit it doesn’t look like a clear winner.

Restaurant review Let me preface this review that I love Pompei pizza at the other location, but this scaled down«express» version leaves much to be desired. Unlike the other location, the pizza are cooked and sitting on a display counter to be ordered and reheated in a rolling oven. Maybe my dinner experience was off, but the reheated pizza quality seemed a bit off and not worth the price. Maybe I will have to try something else, but I just don’t have a drive to go back since my bad experience… Pro: very quick food, diverse menu if you want salads, sandwich, or reheated pizza. plenty of seating. average prices depending on what you order Cons: disappointed reheated pizza Hidden gem: sign up online to join the email list to hear about promotions

Pompei is literally inside my office building, and is the place I go to for lunch when… A) Nothing else sounds all that good… B) I kinda want pizza, fast… C) It’s freezing/snowing/raining and I refuse to go outside. The salads are large & and always fresh, the minestrone is really tasty too, but the pizza is just not that great. I’m always hopeful and very, YAY! PIZZA!, when I order it, but then reality smacks me in the face. Sad, pizza. Price-wise it’s pretty reasonable for what you get, and the staff has always been friendly. It’s just not my favorite place on the block, but it is a solid option when in the need for something quick & warm.

We were looking for somewhere to grab a quick lunch after walking around Michigan Avenue and on a whim, stopped in at Pompei after I found it on my Poynt download. The café style ordering intially had us worried, but once we started eating, it was Italian food heaven. My sister ordered a caprese salad and some soup which she loved. My husband had a grilled chicken panini with spinach and he loved every bite. I had a small grilled chicken Caesar salad and ordered some calamari to share. The salad was amazing; the best Caesar dressing I have ever eaten. The calamari was hot, perfectly cooked, and the breading was light but tasteful. Absolutely amazing.

Oh no, I can’t say so… that it was a WOW experience, that is. It was a toss-up between the Grand Lux and this place for lunch, n believe I made the wrong choice! Clean and spacious, yes… cafeteria-like food produced, again yes. Simple ceasar salad with a slice of spinach pizza. Large pieces of romaine that still needed attention with a knife, and powdered parmesan? at $ 5 a salad, think you could just give me at least 3 shaves of your cheese block? salad drowned in dressing… don’t like that as scant is the amount for me. Pizza: think high school squares! Very frugal on the sauce, cheese, and spinach. Crust, though held a nice crunch to it, was not the right texture for great pizza crust, and was too compact, and once more, harkened me back to high school pizza. Oh well; can’t win them all. I see a few folk speaking of some pizza sandwich thing? That must have been what a pizzacotto was.hm.

My brother recommended this place for me. I should have known better because our tastes are so different. The salad he raves over is just okay and the dressing, while pretty good, is nothing spectacular. I’ve had a honey Dijon salad dressing at one place in my neighborhood that I would rather drink than put on a salad and vegetables. I should say that I didn’t sit down and eat but rather got a take-out order. The food is good, pretty good and probably more affordable than most restaurants in the area. But I don’t get where my brother feels this place is like«Damn». What I do to keep the peace and soothe egos.

An very satisfying place for a weekday lunch! I’ve had Pompei both as carry-out and dine-in and have always been happy with the food. Of course, my favorite offering on the menu are the pizza strudels. I am a carb-lover, so the idea of having sandwich/pizza toppings wraped in bread dough and baked was not a hard sell to me. It’s as delicious as it sounds. They do make a very good pizza here as well, and offer some delectable desserts. It’s a place that everyone in the office can agree on, because everyone can find something they like on the menu.

I did not know this place existed until yesterday! I was a little surprised when I walked in, it felt like I was at a mall food court. My friend Jackie and I came here for lunch yesterday because she had a groupon. We like trying new places, and this place sounded like a good lunch spot. It is a fine lunch spot. The food was quick, they bring it to your table, and clean up after you. So it’s somewhere in between fast food, and a sit down restaurant, which is perfect for lunch in the loop! I had the mela verde salad. It was tasty, but kinda expensive. Luckily the small was large enough for lunch. I didn’t think Pompei was spectacular, but I wouldn’t be opposed to returning. It’s a good place to go when you want something decent and super quick.

I strolled into Pompei ten minutes before they closed, desperate for some decent/cheap grub in the neighborhood. Indeed, that’s what they serve — decent/cheap grub. The cheese garlic bread wasn’t as soft as I’d like, but it was really tasty. I did like the chicken parmigiana pizzicotto, but it wasn’t hot. The sausage ravioli was subpar. Everything was very Sbarro-y. Despite rolling in late, the staff let us eat in peace. And they were kind enough to heat up the pizzicotto when we asked them to. All-in-all, it was a decent experience. Certainly better than I expected after seeing the completely terrifying display case of petrified food. At first I thought it was just a bad plastic representation of their menu. The reality shook me to the suddenly un-hungry bone. Go in with low expectations and you’ll be satisfied. It shouldn’t be your first choice, but as a stop-gap restaurant, I approve of Pompei.

Let me set up the scene: so we had gotten some pompei for a dinner meeting like a week before and it was really good. so one day my friend and I were searching for a place to eat, and pompei popped into our heads so we decided to head on over. We walk in and start to look at the pizza behind the glass. It’s old looking and the cheese looks like plastic, there are regular flies and fruit flies all around… My Friend: this is what they serve to people? Me: Nah, this is just display they have pizza in the back. Counter Guy: Can I help you guys? Me: Can I have a slice of cheese(he starts to take it from the fly case) Me: Wait, You have pizza in the back right, this is just display? Counter Guy: Nah, this is what we serve Us:(give him the side-eye) ummm… Okay, no thanks. bye. So yeah, haven’t been back since. If your pizza is cooked fresh then its ok. but the fly case… not good at all.
