I was having a pain in my neck several months ago, and my Dr. recommended that I go see Dr. Portugal (at University of Chicago Hospital) so he could take a look. I never have reasons to go to the Dr.- normally perfect health, so doctors just make me nervous in general.
His nurses were very kind and polite, showed me back to the exam room, asked me questions, took notes in the file, were very personable. They explained Dr. Portugal was running a little late– but it was really only a 10 minute wait. NO problem.
When Dr. Portugal did come in, he introduced himself, asked me a lot of questions, felt my glands inside & outside me mouth, was VERY gentle. He told me about what he saw, what he thought, gave me some options for how he thought we might investigate more. It was really very comfortable and I felt like we were working together. I would recommend him to anyone. In fact– I wish he could just be my general practitioner.
