This place it’s horrible. Dj played old music. Place is small. And they did not have soap in the bathroom.

It’s not bad. The DJ is amazing, the place is small. It was just no one there. I’m not sure if it was because of the holiday weekend but it was easy to count the number of people. It has the potential of being great but I think it needs better promoters.

This place sucks. If I have an option of giving 0 star i would. The guys over here wont even serve water to you. They say its against there policy to serve tap water. Whereas they will use the same tap water in your drink. They make you buy water bottles(each priced at $ 5) else you go thirsty. Moreover then wont even accept credit cards below $ 20 !! I visited them on May 31st, 2014 and the above happened to me, When I spoke to the manger ‘Jeff ’ he doesnt seems to care. We had to buy 4 water bottles as we didn have any other option. Go someplace else. Else you will end up spending money on buying water bottles.

Went downstairs and bar was closed/non-existent. Friends were concerned that we were being lured into some sort of kidnapping/murder horror. Was exciting, at least.

Hmmmm, tetering on this one. This place is a very small venue, which I actually like. It is either super packed or kinda dead… never really an in between. They do get good DJs, though. The staff is super friendly and getting drinks and to the bathroom is never difficult. Though, the bathrooms get a little nasty throughout the night. Definitely suggest the place to pop in for a drink or two while out on Hubbard.

Not sure if this place is trying to be cool. It looks like a little speakeasy, it’s underground and dark. So all that is cool unless you go on a Saturday night and it feels like all the air is sucked out of the room. They do make decent drinks though, they made me manhattan which was pretty well mixed. I would come back on a quiet night for a drink with the girls or a date.

Love it! I’ve been here a few times– it’s great for a first(or 18th) date. Cozy, intimate, sexy. The drinks are typical River North prices but they are delish. No food menu– but I think you can order from Slurping Turtle(above). Great place to order drinks before dinner in River North. Bartenders I’ve met here were always sweet & knew how to make a drink… not always a combo you find in Chicago. ;-) Not a place to go for beer, but a great place to go for cocktails.

Went there to celebrate my wife’s birthday, with a bunch of friends — not a great experience. The Air Conditioning was very poor and seems like all the vent is towards their sister place, NV Penthouse, upstairs. I was sweating. Secondly, i had made a prior reservation in advance with the lady who pickups the phone listed on their site, but when i reached there, the manager was not aware of any reservation made for us. Luckily for us, there was a lot going on in NV Penthouse upstairs and there was no cover charge for us, so we ended up having a fun night. NV Penthouse Rocked that night for their 6 year celebration !!

I’m originally from the south and love good fried chicken. I am also from the country MERICA, and enjoy a great old fashioned even more than I enjoy fried chicken. Prohibit had both of these on lock! It wasn’t until after reading an article about this place, on the best old fashions in Chicago, did I decided to give it a try seeing as I don’t work too far from here. When I got here, I was unaware that they served food until they gave us a food menu that had items from the Slurping Turtle and Chef Takashi!!! I had the duck fat fried chicken and was amazed at how awesome it was, I asked for no slaw so if your a fan of that, it does come on the side. I don’t know what the dipping sauce that I had for my chicken was but it was fucking flame! The drinks weren’t too expensive and the bartender was awesome, If you don’t know who Chef Takashi is then go to the Slurping Turtle and try it, it’s right above prohibit. Probably one of the best kept secrets of River North.

Lets break this building down. 9th Floor– NV Penthouse 1st Floor — Slurping Turtle Basement — PROHIBIT! Prohibit is a cozy area to listen to music without having the typical club atmosphere. We booked this area for a surprise dual bachelor/bachelorette party. This unconventional couple did not want separate parties with bad decisions and whatnot. So they decided to have their last hoorah together. How cute, aye? The booking of Prohibit was easy and we chose a 35 per person open bar package. I was a little upset that if didn’t include top-shelf liquors. The Prohibit area had a DJ and awesome music all night long. The staff was helpful and courteous. The area itself was loungy but enough room for people to get a bit wild and dance if they wanted, after-all, it is open bar! Prohibit made it super easy for us to through a seamless surprise dual bachelorette/bachelor party and all the staff helped us slide past them. I would definitely go there again for a little nightcap after dinner or something.

Stopped down in Prohibit a few months ago to meet a friend for a quick drink. I tried the Corpse Reviver no. 7: Hendrick’s Gin, Lillet Rose, Cointreau, Fresh Lemon & Absinthe Rinse. It was nice but I don’t really remember much else about the bar except for the speed dating going on at the same time. Eventually we headed upstairs to get some food at slurping turtle and that was the best part of the night!

Cute hidden bar below the Slurping Turtle. The drinks are good and the bartenders are nice. Not sure the vibe later in the evening, but it is a cute, romantic hideaway to go with a date after dinner.

Shmeh… Very cool ambiance. Dark, lounge-y. Surprisingly unpretentious considering it’s in the heart of River North amongst all the other Hubbard Madness. I like the black & white photos and minimalistic details. I was very disappointed at their lack of craft beer. Two Brothers’ Winter White, should not be the craftiest craft ya got. And sorry, but Stella and Guiness don’t cut it either. And bourbon, they don’t have anything beyond Buffalo Trace and Makers. Just thought their liquor availability would be stronger considering their concept. W/the right people, sure I’d go again, but I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way.
