As a vegetarian I can say that I’m thankful for fun opportunities to try new viable options. Sure it’s tiny and looks a little worn out but that doesn’t reflect how tasty the menu is or how many options I actually have. I also can’t deny that I love the spicy salsa options. So good!

I really liked this place. I had a soy based chicken quesadilla with vegan cheese, rice, and guacamole. It was completely delicious. Overall it was clean and enjoyable. The restrooms are tiny though.

I think this place has great food. We had tacos de pollo, tacos al pastor, tacos de chicharrón and The corn truffle quesadilla. I’m not a Vegan so I can honestly tell you the taste is great and I don’t think anyone could tell it wasn’t meat. That’s how good the flavor is. Service can be bad and they are closed a lot. There have been times when I have gone during the week and on the weekends and they are closed! Makes me wonder why…

I am completely in love with this restaurant. As a vegan Mexicana, I do miss tacos and tortas and just going to a taco joint with friends or family, and this place lets me enjoy those foods again. I always get the Al Pastor tacos with arroz y frijoles. I’m always so happy when I come here because I get to order anything I want and not freak out cause I forgot to say«no cheese» or «no crema» or anything else — no fear! Lol. The service is always friendly, and though I’ve had to wait a little longer than other taco places, I don’t mind. I have also tried their quesadillas and they’re tasty. Disclaimer — I’m not big into vegan cheezes, but this place nails it. It’s all about their seasonings, and they make food taste as close to the«real» thing as possible.

As a vegetarian, I rarely go to entirely meat free restaurants because frankly, fake meat often tastes like fake meat. This place truly figured out a way to make delicious Mexican food with soy based meats. It’s all about the seasonings. I got 3 tacos with rice and beans. I wish I had known 2 of the tacos would be painfully spicy, but the flavor was still there. I was really in between 3&4 stars… I still am. Why? –we ordered guacamole and never got it. By the time we got our food we decided it wasn’t worth asking for it, since we had finished the chips to pass the time. –the server didn’t check on us –when I flagged the server down for sour cream to cool down my spicy tacos… she said they didn’t have any… WHAT?! A Mexican restaurant with no sour cream whatsoever? –I got charged .50 per taco for cheese. There was such a small amount it was barely visible and I didn’t even taste it. Overall, if you’re a vegetarian and occasionally crave something that resembles a steak taco, it’s definitely worth the trip here!

This place is so close to my apartment and I want it to be good, but it just isn’t. Most of the hot dishes in the menu taste like something I could make in the microwave. They’re not necessary«bad», just not something I would want to pay someone else to make for me. I haven’t had any of the juices. Twice after eating here, my husband and I have felt a little sick…

My boyfriend and I are vegetarian and are pretty disappointed. While this place has the best fake meat I’ve ever had, the service has continually let us down. I’m only writing this because this is the second time our order got messed up. I ordered 2 tacos and a small bowl of pozole, but got 3 tacos and a large bowl of soup, all of which I was charged for. My boyfriend asked for an extra cup but it was never delivered. At least they forgot to charge us the BYOB fee.

My wife and I are both vegetarian and trying new mexican restaurants is always worrisome as you never know if the menu is going to cater to vegetarians or not. Well that’s not a problem at Quesadilla. WECANORDERANYTHINGANDNOTBESCAREDOFIT! My favorites include the Garibaldi taco(steak) and the Tinga taco(shredded marinated chicken) and the giant burrito. They honestly should have a challenge in place for anyone that can finish the giant burrito in one sitting. That thing lives up to it’s name! Their fake meat selection is immense and I still haven’t gotten all the way through the menu, but I plan to! Oh, and Quesadilla is part of what I’ve been calling the«Walk Western» path — starting down at Challengers Comics(or coming off of the 606), hitting Quesadilla for amazing food, grabbing something sweet at GBD, hunting to get a piece of your childhood back at Toy de Jour, looking for oddities at Sideshow Gallery, and ending up at Logan Arcade. Great date day all in one stretch of Western that most people miss while doing the same old Milwaukee Ave stuff. All this while getting some exercise walking Western!

It’s is amazing that a Mexican restaurant can have the vast variety of items of a traditional Mexican restaurant without compromises! The spices are dead on, and the abundances of choices will leave you coming back just to try more. It’s great knowing that I can eat Mexican food without the risk of items being cooked in animal fat or animal stock. The staff is friendly and prompt as they can be(even during the busiest times), and you won’t wait that long for your food. Note that it’s BYOB.

The food here is pretty good, and I love that is all vegetarian. I’ve gotten take away and delivery, so I can’t really speak to the service, but the food was fast and hot! I enjoyed the ranchera quesadilla, the marinated«chicken» taco, and the chorizo taco(which is pretty darn spicy, FYI), but I didn’t care for the Garibaldi taco. The Garibaldi was bland and mushy, not very appealing. In the end, though, everything else was pretty decent. I’m looking forward to checking out the fajitas!

I could cry with joy. I thought Mexican vegetarian restaurants were only in the hippest California neighborhoods. But no, there’s this gem right here. Being Mexican, I missed milanesa(breaded steak), barbacoa, chicharron(pig skin) and tinga so much. This place has them all AND pozole, tamales and many more things. This is an instant favorite.

My girlfriend and I found this restaurant over a year ago on Happy Cow and fell in love! Vegan delicious Mexican food? Um… YESPLEASE! We would come here at least once a week, and became familiar with the waitresses there. Super friendly and awesome! I would call and give my order, and they would already know it was me, as we always ordered the same thing. The food is so different than anything I’ve ever had, but in the best possible way. I cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant, and only hope that more people give it a chance. Vegan, vegetarian, or not. There menu should be tried by all. Can’t wait to go back and have one of their mouthwatering Tortas.

I’ve been vegan for 3 years. This is one of the first restaurants I went to and I loved it. We are lucky because they deliver and we are in their delivery area. We order at least a couple times a month from them. Tonight they delivered my quesadilla with dairy cheese. Because we’ve gone here so much I didn’t check before I took a giant bite. I called and was told I didn’t order it right. She said that she saw in the notes that it says vegan but we were supposed to be charged. I asked why she didn’t call us instead of just putting dairy on my food. She said it wasn’t her fault, she didn’t cook it. She said we are getting in trouble for not charging for vegan cheese. Apparently they don’t get in trouble for ignoring the customers request. I told her that being vegan is a moral choice for me and they didn’t simply ignore my ordering preference they made me go against my ethicals. She said again it wasn’t her fault. One call to say they had to charge us an extra dollar would have kept us as customers. We will not order from them again.

First find if a vegan Mexican place. Went for a team lunch. Did not like what I ordered. I got taco fiber with some steak and chicken. Steak was really bad tasting. But I loved the carnitas tacos. That’s a must to try.

Yeah, the service is crappy. But it’s cheap, the portions are huge, and it tastes great. We tried the chorizo burrito(excellent) and flautas(also very good, would make a great appetizer).

There’s not many places that sell corn fungus on their regular menu. In fact, there’s not many vegan friendly mexican places that sell daiya cheese and faux meat on tacos. I’m an omnivore, but I can certainly appreciate vegetarian places that appeals to anyone with an appetite. Portions are big, price is reasonable, surprisingly spicy and it’s a cheerful orange and green hole in the wall. One quesadilla is an adequate light meal. The corn truffle, a mushroom that grows on the corn plant was stuffed into my quesadilla along with corn, peppers and cheese. The veggie cubano looked awesome from photos, but as reviews have indicated, it’s a tad soggy from being steamed on the transport home. There’s a lot of poblano peppers, slices of pink and white soy meat, smeared with refried beans. Bread appeared quite charred, but was not crispy at all. If vegan is the lifestyle you are in, you’ll love having this option and it’s good, but as far as mexican goes, it’s just alright.

Oh. My. Goodness. No, really. I have more than one English degree and am opting instead for tween texting language because omg this place is like totes amazeballs. This place has vegan meat better than any other I have ever eaten, a wide variety of options including both vegan and non-vegan cheese, AND it is cheap. I was very full for under $ 8, including my fruity soda. Bonus: they sell the fake meat by the pound so you can cook it at home — cheaper than seitan! Please open another storefront farther north!!!

The service sucks sometimes and it’s not the best looking or most comfortable restaurant, but the food makes up for it in spades with few exceptions. The food and juices are unique and better than any other vegan Mexican food in the city. Delivery can be soggy sometimes since they use styrofoam– please fix this!

[1/24/2015UPDATE]: I am lowering my previous rating by one star… Quesadilla La Reyna del Sur, WHATHAPPENED? My wife and our friends came to eat here and the Super Burrito did not have the same taste, there was burnt pieces in the food and worse yet, my stomach had indigestion the whole night in bed. The quality has suffered… and I don’t think my friends liked it either. I just ate our leftovers a day later and I’m getting indigestion again. I hope this was just a one time thing because I really liked the food the previous times, «Thou shalt not let the quality of the Super Burrito and other foods suffer.»

I’ve tried to come here a few times, but they seem to have very strange hours. I finally went last night. It’s a fairly small space. When you sit down, you are greeted by a waitress, salsa, chips, and water. There are a lot of options for tacos and burritos. Note that they are mostly soy-based fake meat. I am not a huge fan of most fake meat, but i do love soyrizo. I ordered the soyrizo giant burrito, and oh my goodness, it was giant indeed. The flavors were all there and balanced out the rice and lettuce well. I am looking forward to eating the other half for lunch today. As others have noted, service is not the best. We never got water refills and eventually went up to the counter to pay. It’s not a big deal – there was just one woman waiting on the whole place. I’ll definitely return though. Vegetarian Mexican food is like a dream come true.

The verdict was unanimous — a trip to Quesadilla La Reyna del Sur is a satisfying one. The restaurant’s quite small, but the food they prepare make it a worthwhile experience. Great food, very tasty, reasonably priced. BYOB!
