Overall the experience has been good for your typical dated downtown hotel. The service is well above average, especially at check-in. The rooms are bright and clean. The TV is small, the décor is typical hotel, the bathroom has a large shower but no bath, the kitchenette is nicely furnished. The gym is bad. Very small. Needs updating. Equipment works, but really guys. The big whack is the lack of a bar and the restaurant is under renovation. So this is not a convenient hotel for business meetings or even to have a place to work as a group. Navigating the one elevator is a real PIA. My advice is to ask for a lower room so you can use the stairs.

This was the perfect hotel to host our out of town wedding guests in December! It is in a great location, and everyone loved having a kitchen in the room(especially those traveling with kids). The pullout sofa was also convenient so a small group of friends could all stay in the same room together. It was in the perfect location for guests to explore the nicer areas of our beautiful city. We would go across the street to the Drake to hang out at the bar there. I also really liked the breakfast buffet because I would sit in the lobby in the mornings and I could mingle with guests as they would come and go. I also didn’t want to block out a really expensive hotel for people, and this place was very reasonable priced($ 129/night). Everything was clean and comfortable and people enjoyed their stay. My bridal suite was beautiful, and they gave us complimentary champagne and cupcakes for our room. It was a lovely spot for getting ready photos. The staff also passed out welcome bags to everyone without a charge. I’m very happy with our decision to block out this hotel for our wedding!

This hotel has 3 great features: 1: It’s absolutely gorgeous! 2: It’s located at the start of Chicago’s shopping district so you don’t have to backtrack. 3: It has a FREE breakfast buffet! #3 alone deserves 5 stars. The room itself was very cozy. It was like we had our very own studio. The room included a microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator WITH freezer, coffee maker, iron, pots, pans, plates, silverware, and a flat-screen TV! It was amazing! Tip: Breakfast starts at 630am so get there early as it gets crowded and for good reason. Don’t forget the waffle maker in the tiny secluded room to the left of the buffet table. Thank you Marriott! You truly were a Magnificent host!
