Food — 4 stars Service — 3 Stars Décor — 3 stars On the outside, Rocky’s tacos looks like any other Mexican restaurant. You walk inside and you get the same feel. Older wooden tables and chairs, a simple counter you order at, and a cashier who speaks broken english. This is always a good sign of authenticity so I was expecting a regular Mexican restaurant. The name is deceiving because if you go in and only order tacos… you’re missing out. This place is all about TORTAS! They have so many different combinations that is is amazing. You can go in every day for a month and try a different torta. It is really awesome! The quality of the food is 3 stars but all the crazy combos bump it up to a 4. If your in this neighborhood and you want a Torta I think this is a great and quick place to go.

Their nachos is probably the closest thing to actual nachos(none of the silly barbecue pulled pork sh%t other places offer) that I’ve come across in this next of the woods. They have an EXTENSIVE torta menu which my friend is daring to try all of them in his lifetime. Well, it’ll be a short life if he actually eats every single one of the tortas. The food is delicious and quick. The price makes sense for what you are getting. I cannot say this would be my first choice taco place given the amount of food Mexican food places in the area but it’s definitely delicious and worth a try.

As the rating states… i’m a fan. If I could, I would give this place a 4.5÷5. I came to this taco joint literally within 10 minutes of closing. I wasn’t event expecting to be served given how late it was, but the cashier waved me over and said it was okay to order. As for the food, it was definitely solid. I ordered the pastor dinner and even after a 20 minute drive the food was still warm. In terms of portions it was definitely spot on. I was hungry and the to go container gave just enough of everything. The pastor was great. It wasn’t burnt and overall, I feel like they cooked it to appeal to a broad demographic. It’s not too spicy for people that are spice averse, and you’ve got the salsa to lay on the heat if you want it. In addition, the beans, rice, and lettuce/tomatoes were fresh and tasty. As an added plus, they were very generous with the warm tortillas. The only thing I guess that didn’t push me to a 5 star was the horchata. It was good, but I felt like it was a little«watered down». It might have been that it was the end of the night so I may have gotten what was left. Maybe it could use a little more cinnamon or the other ingredients. I’m no horchata expert, but I figure it could use a little more flavor. Having said that though, the horchata wasn’t bad… I just want more of a good thing. Overall, I was very happy, and grateful for this place being willing to feed me especially after a long day at work. If i’m back in the area i’ll definitely make a return trip.

Last minute late lunch decision. Have passed by this place several times, but with all the taco choices in the neighborhood, we tend to skip this place. Very overwhelming menu when you walk in, but we knew that we were craving tacos so went for our go to tacos: pastor, chorizo, and carnitas. All pretty solid choices. Our new go to fast food taco joint.

Food quality is poor. Started off with stale chips and then ordered carne asada(which tasted just like regular ground beef) and carne al pastor(which were extra dry and with random undercooked onions) tacos and was extremely disappointed. The place also looks quite dirty… with a leaky sink in the dining area, a chipped-old looking door leading into the kitchen and ripped chairs. Also, the salsa bottle tips had old salsa buildup and the horchata machine had dust buildup around it, just gross. Would not recommend this place.

Torta toluqueña is my fave. Service varies, sometimes they are nice, others not so much. In my most recent encounter, I placed an order for pick-up on the phone and the person on the phone was rude.

I order tacos from this place all the time but im just sick and tired of the lady who takes the order hanging up on me all the time they should hire someone that cares more about the loyal customers. The two stars are for the customer service experience.

Not bad, had a small sandwich(«torta«) with chicken and ham that filled me for the entire day! Fantastic prices too for the portions you get.

We order from Rocky’s Tacos via Seamless almost every week –they go beyond your typical burrito place fare. Their tortas are really great — toasty bread, avocado, beans, a variety of meats, cheese, shreddy lettuce, etc. The menu doesn’t describe what’s on them very well if you’re ordering, so I had to find out the hard way my first order that they come with mayonnaise as a default topping(yuck. Fellow mayo haters be warned.) But, after figuring that out, I found my perfect sandwich(the Blanco) for our typical Friday-night-parent-of-toddlers-crash-on-the-couch-and-watch-Dateline routine. We are pretty cool. The salsa comes with chopped ham on it, which is weird. I wouldn’t recommend their chips-based options(I agree with other reviewers they taste stale. Get a torta, proceed to couch, put on Netflix, enjoy life.

Um definitely not worth the $ 24 I spent! I ordered nachos and a chicken burrito. The nachos were stale as feet. I got some tortilla chips from Target about 3 weeks ago on top of my fridge that taste 2X better than these chips right now. The presentation of the nachos looked horrible they put these huge chunks of avocado on top and there was hardly any beans. The burrito tasted like it had been sitting out for hours and the sour cream was dried OUT… basically tried to force myself to eat it. AGAIN, it looked as if they just smashed all the ingredients together. I wouldn’t recommend this place maybe it was just a bad night for them but anyhow I’m still hungry what a waste.

The lady working didn’t seemed thrilled that we were there. When I went up to where she was standing to ask if we could have some water, she put her index finger up and rudely replied, «sit down. I’ll bring it in a minute.» We also didn’t get chips and salsa(like real salsa, in a dish), even though the other tables around us did :-(so we had to ask for that, too. She gave us chips and squeeze bottle of hot sauce, better than nothing I guess? A simple order of 4 tacos for me and my friend took 35 minutes, whaaat… Tacos were good, but not worth the rudeness and wait.

Beware of this place! I ordered for delivery and the food arrived really late about an hour and 35 minutes and my home is about 7minutes away by driving. Food was cold and we heated it up we ate some tacos and tortas and the meat was really salty and had to throw it away… horrible place will not eat here again…

Restaurants don’t have to be gimmicky to make me a fan. But I do wish I knew more about international soccer to appreciate how many of the dishes/tortas are named after soccer players/soccer terms. One term that is probably understood the world over, even if you aren’t a soccer fan is «F@#k You, Referee» which is a dinner plate with breaded chicken, ham, bacon, sausage and cheese. There is also the«Penalty» which is a carnitas torta. See what I mean? fun names for yummy food. I opted for the La Leonesa Torta. Which I guess is a town in Argentina? but for me it was a delicious ribeye steak and onions torta, served with tomatoes, avocado, lettuce and refried beans. It’s very flavorful on it’s own, but add some of the green or red sauce from the bottles on the table and it adds some heat and more flavor. The bread for the torta is toasted and to me, that just elevates any sandwich. It’s a big portion so come hungry. The Hibiscus Jamaica was refreshing and because of the heat of the sauces, I could have easily downed another one. My little guy got the cheese quesadilla and he polished the whole thing off, even with all the horchata he drank. All the fun artwork and soccer décor kept his interest as well so I could eat in relative peace. This place is small but family friendly for sure.

I really like their tortas here. L’Atlas is my favorite, which is a torta with pulled chicken in a green mole sauce. Also La Potosina is really good, which is a torta with milanesa de res, with a pretty good chipotle sauce. I only recently moved to albany park, and was much more familiar with the Rocky’s Taco in Rogers Park. This one is just as good. And apparently shares some of the staff. The first time I went to this Rocky’s, the lady remembered me from the other location and remembered which tortas I liked. Perhaps I’m just fairly unique looking, but I thought it was good service.

Small neighborhood style place, not much for décor but always solid, great tacos and tortas. Great prices and service. Been there several times and never had a bad experience. Well above the other similar style places in the area.

Rocky’s Tacos is best for… you guessed it… TACOS! Their Al Pastor tacos are some of the best I have ever had, the meat is seasoned very well and they give you lots of meat! Hubby loves the #3 combo. They also have some of the best chicken I have had at a Mexican restaurant to date! It is so moist and flavorful, they must use dark meat! All in all, they are my go to place for my taco fix!

This Gringo loves Gringas! I mean, who doesn’t? Let me give you two reasons why I love Gringas. One is, of course, you ladies. I love you everything about you and you smell so nice too. And for the other reason why I love Gringas. Well, you are my favorite botana at Rocky’s Tacos. I am a sucker, and a sucker for anything pork. This Mexican appetizer does not disappoint this pork lover either. With a perfectly grilled flour tortilla topped with«al pastor» seasoned pork and melted Chihuahua cheese this botana was a perfect start to my decadently delivered lunch from Rocky’s Tacos. As I stated in many previous reviews. I love tacos, and as I started above I love pork… and Gringas(both kinds) too, of course! Well Rocky’s sent a scrumptious lunch over to my apartment the other day. This lunch consisted of the infamous Gringas, Suadero Steak Tacos and La Potosina Torta. The Gringas, as you know, were delicious and absolutely my favorite part of the meal. The Suadero Steak Tacos were great too. Carne Suadero is a thin cut of beef from the brisket that is sautéed in a spicy chile and tomato sauce. They were delicious. ¡Que Sabroso! And La Potosina Torta was great too. This torta style reigning from the great Mexican state of San Luis Potosí was jam-packed with breaded pork, picante chipotle sauce and melted Chihuahua cheese. ¡Que decadente! This was one great delivery Rocky’s. Everything came caliente y picante. Everything else looks great on the menu too and they have a plethora of tortas named after Mexican states to famous fútbol players. I truly enjoyed my delivered meal and would definitely order another time. And whether you are a gringa or a gringo, get the Gringas! It is something that is not to be missed. ¡Buen Provecho!

We ordered lunch from Rocky’s the other day via Grubhub. The delivery was prompt and the man who delivered the food was very nice. Although it is a taco joint, their specialty seems to be sandwiches. They offer a huge assortment, all named after international soccer stars and teams. I got 3 different types for lunch and then an order of tacos for Christopher to take with him to work. He said the tacos were«good», which is about as animated as he gets over anything. Mom and I thought the sandwiches were awesome. Christopher was not quite as enthused as we were. I don’t know why, because I thought his sandwich was delicious, so go figure. First let me say, the sandwiches are huge. The bread is very nicely toasted and substantial and the fillings are flavorful and generous. They must have at least 30 different sandwiches, all of which are unique. I chose mom’s carefully as she does not like anything spice. I got her one with ham, cheese, guacamole and veggies. It was really good, if perhaps a tad messy to eat. I had one with Mexican steak. I added avocado to the order and it was really very good. Christopher’s sandwich had ham and bacon and other things I don’t recall, but as I said, I thought it was very tasty, even if he didn’t finish it. We will try this place again, because choosing was almost overwhelming. I’ll just get Christopher tacos and we will all be happy. Rocky’s is unique and a soccer /sandwich lover’s paradise!
