For a small store, how did you possibly have a copy of Camus The Stranger in stock? The Lovers Dictionary? And how can the manager and owner stop whatever they are doing to listen to me babble about the latest book that broke my heart — and ask me about it again months later? This is the ideal neighborhood book store.

Great little bookstore. Impressive selection for the size, and very well curated. And they have a great story time for kids two days a week.

Great locale shop. Exactly what Roscoe Village needed. The staff is always friendly and attentive if you ask for a book. They can order books if they don’t have one you want. The selection isn’t huge as some local bookshops, but perfect enough to wander in and find something interesting.

When I bought my condo in Roscoe Village, I had no idea about this absolute gem of a bookstore. I don’t know how I got so lucky buying a condo just blocks away from this great neighborhood bookstore but thank god, I hit the jackpot!

I was surprised a book store was popping up on this stretch of Roscoe, but I love books, so I was perfectly happy to see it. I stopped in finally and it was such a cute store! Nicely organized, really friendly staff and a very wide selection of books including a very well appointed kids section but also cards and other fun stuff. Definitely worth a stop in!

Well organized and nice for browsing. The kids section is well stocked with classics and some fun, newer titles as well. I’ve had good luck picking up gifts here. Great neighborhood book store, glad to see it open and I wish it all the best — a nice addition to roscoe village.

Stopped in today and enjoyed their selection. They have a great kids area in the back and it’s nice to shop local. I think this place will find success in the neighborhood and seems to have something for everyone.

This is exactly what Roscoe Village(and every neighborhood in Chicago) needs. Like most independent bookstores, RoscoeBooks is welcomingly quaint and well-staffed with knowledgable and helpful book lovers. But what sets RoscoeBooks apart is the way that they somehow condense the variety of titles that you might find at a big-box bookstore into a jewel-box setting. The result is an extremely accessible, user-friendly neighborhood bookstore. They do such a good job presenting hot/new titles from such a diverse collection of genres that you can’t walk 10 feet without grabbing three or four books. This is also the ideal place for gift buying because not only is the inventory incredibly diverse, but they also do a great job highlighting popular titles and providing staff recommendations. RoscoeBooks also focuses heavily on children’s books, and the owner is a new mother herself who helped me pick out some gems for my nieces and nephews. Oh, they also have a HUGE selection of greeting cards(holiday, birthday, etc.) – those really hip(read: dirty) cards, not just your run of the mill Hallmark stuff – and it’s always handy to have a reliable card resource nearby. Roscoe Village, you are lucky. Here’s hoping that this place sticks around for years to come.
