Last visit was this AM, NEVERAGAIN! Dirty orange juice glass and a roach embedded in a pancake! YUCK!!!

Decent classy-looking diner from the outside, this place has a nice ample parking lot. Inside, the décor was your«typical» outdated diner feel to it(think Golden Nugget) but that’s what adds character to these places, no? The waitress we had was super nice and friendly I ordered the meatloaf, mash potatoes, and veggies. The dish was drenched in gravy, but that’s how I like it! It came with three generous slices of meatloaf which was nice and moist. The mash potatoes were pretty fluffy and tasty as well. The great thing was my meal only costed $ 8, and it included soup! I had the chicken noodle soup, which was pleasantly tasty, and not salty(that’s what she said). Overall, the food was decent… for a dinner. BATHROOMREVIEW: The bathrooms were super clean! I was expecting the typical old diner bathrooms… ya know, reeking of Pine sol and fake plastic plants and flowers, but this bathroom was pretty clean and bright. Sit or squat? Sit!

Gross. Canned mushrooms? Disgusting cheap food. Frozen spinach… Bagged hash browns with no taste. Disappointing to say the least. We were excited to try based on the location and we foolishly thought it would be similar to the one in park ridge. Nowhere near. For the prices, you should expect fresh food. Not from a freezer and it from a can. Front desk staff and waitstaff didn’t seem to care that we ate about ¼ of our food and openly complained about quality. Never going back.

Today was my 1st time at Sally’s. Wow, I had an amazing meal and everything was perfect. They gave me strawberries on the side in a good amount, good eggs… I can’t say anything bad. They earned a customer today.

Great Service and delicious breakfast! I came here for breakfast with a friend and we were both satisfied with our meals. I had the French toast a side of eggs and hash browns. Everything tastes great and the staff was amazing. Great job guys!

Their breakfast and lunch are very good. They have a wide variety of offerings and their dessert selection is yummy. Fairly priced as well. I would recommend this place.

Sally’s Special French toast… disappointing, no flavor. Bacon changed to a lower quality also. It makes me sad. It used to be thicker cuts. Waitress was friendly enough but I was impressed by the busboy, Rogelio, he was on point ! My husband drinks a lot of water and Rogelio made sure the cups were never empty.

This is a vert normal and average breakfast /diner restaurant. I did not want the service quality to affect my judgement over the food and pricing. Thus, i went here during a less busy time on a sunday. The menu was not that big or complicated. I did not feel intimidated by the menu, i think it was standard for a breakfast place. As soon as i saw the steak skillet i knew that i wanted to try that. You can not get a steak skillet in every breakfast location. It is the royal dish of the breakfast places:) the portion was nice and filling. The blend of the ingridients were ok. The only flaw was the quality of the meat or steak they use. If someone is going for a steak plate you know that person wants to spoil or treat himself that day. So i would be really happy to pay 1 – 2 $ more and get a better cut steak. This was some below average meat. The pancakes were so so. I would say many other places i ve been to makes better pancakes including golden nugget. I would not crave this place or make an extra effort to go there again but if i am hungry and happen to be in the area then i would eat it again. The servers are actually nice but i can understand their frusturation as they have to deal with really old crowd here i mean really old; the ones that come with an oxygen tank with them!!! So i dont blame them being little impatient with the customers sometimes.

I’m pretty sure this place has been around for a while, but this was my first time visiting with my family. It’s a diner so they have one of those intense menus that pretty much cover the gamut of meals and a variety of offerings and is presented in, basically a thin binder. They took our reservation a few days before and had a table easily set up when we walked in. Their coffee guys are so on the ball that they almost over-caffeinate you. The food was actually pretty good. It was solid diner fare. I ordered the Belgium waffle with the ‘fresh, frozen strawberries’ which made me laugh. The waffle does get a little soggy from the fruit, but can you really notice when they overcompensate with a mound of whipped cream? My corned beef has was a little salty, but at a diner I figured as much. However, I did like that it wasn’t overly soggy and had a bit of crunch which kept me coming back for more. Overall it seemed that my party enjoyed their meal. I mean my dad just ordered ham off the bone and got a plate of ham… off the bone. No complaints there at all. Our waitress was very nice and was even patient with us when we originally forgot to mention that we wanted to split our bill. They were very accommodating in allowing us to do so as we were ready to head out.

I could name 10 places better than this place. It expense and not worth it, they give you very small portions and the front desk isn’t friendly the waitress was nice that’s why it gets 1 star.

If I could give zero stars I would. My wife and I went to Sally’s today for lunch. We sat down and ordered our drinks when something came up and we found out we had to leave before eating. I let our waitress know and she brought me a check for 6.50. We took maybe 3 sips each out of each glass of RC(not Coke as we were told) and they charged us 6.50! I thought it must have been a mistake. We were not even the establishment for more than 5 minutes and they charge 6.50 for 2 drinks? I take the receipt to the front and ask if it was a mistake. The very rude manager(I assume) told us «minimum 3 dollars each no exceptions». I explained we were planning on staying but had to leave and he responded with the same statement. I will never return to this establishment when Family Palace is right down the street.

This is my 3rd visit here in the 4 years I lived here in Chicago. It has always been a pleasant experience for me. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. This food is good and served in a timely manner. Let’s face it, breakfast is kind of hard to screw up badly, isn’t it? I’ve had the usual bacon and eggs, chopped steak, etc. and I’ve always left satisfied. Thanks Sally(whoever you are)!!

Moved to Portage Park w my ma in 2003. This has ALWAYS been our«go to place» for breakfast and lunch! Comfy laid back feel. Smiling and funny servers ALWAYS. Efficient bus boys. Breakfast food=yum! Burgers and fries(REAL cut french fries?) YUM! I love love this place

I just don’t like this place. I’ve been here twice — both times due to my parents wanting to eat here — and both times I’ve been disappointed. Their soup is spice-less. No salt, no pepper, nothing. I ordered cream of chicken soup, and out came a white liquid that can be summed up as cream with a slight chicken flavor. This past time, I ordered a deluxe turkey sandwich. The deluxe part was the addition of soup and fries. To my surprise, out came the turkey sandwich, which consisted of about 4 slices of turkey on toasted white bread. Just some lettuce on the side. No cheese, no condiments, nothing. I could barely get the dry sandwich down, and I was starving. Again, no discernible seasoning was on the turkeyeither. The grilled cheese my mom had looked fine, just a little crisp. My dad’s beef sandwich didn’t look good either. It was thicker, kind of fatty beef served with a ton of gravy all over it. The side was a cup of mashed potatoes drenched in the sauce. Service was OK, but not great. A waitress spilled my husband’s soup as she put it down. She said a quick, «sorry,» but made no effort to clean it up and just left. I love a good breakfast/brunch spot, but this place just isn’t it.

My boyfriend comes in for their French toast so often, they don’t even offer him a menu anymore. Just saying… Even though we already had dinner last night, Jason couldn’t resist calling ahead for 2 orders of cinnamon raisin French toast. When we got home, he ate them both without offering me a bite. Good thing I wasn’t hungry. So, this morning, he suggested we have breakfast at Sally’s. Without any hesitation, I ordered the short stack French toast — my first time and extremely curious — That’s just 2 slices of bread, cut in half. Even though it’s easy to make, it’s a hassle to prepare. Not why he loves them. I now know first-hand how awesomely delicious and addicting they are here! Don’t be surprised if we go back for more tomorrow.

I had a Tom turkey dinner here. It was ok, took half of it home and turned out fine reheated next day. Only complaint was the turkey gravy wasnt what I would have liked and they dont have a good vegetable selection with your meal. I’ve been here before for breakfast, but this was my first dinner experience.

This is another place that is just down the street from us so we popped in one night when it was getting late. I was pretty excited seeing the food on other tables. Everything looked delicious! … well looks are deceiving here :( I ordered the reuben and it has to be the chitzy-est reuben I have ever received. I got more meat on a reuben at Arby’s and that was $ 3 cheaper and came with a drink. The fries were undercooked and mushy. My husband got the patty melt. A generous burger that was well cooked, but they must be saving a fortune on spices because I don’t think this thing was seasoned at all… not even salt and pepper. The blandest burger we’ve had in a long time. Both meals came with soup. We ordered two different kinds and both were okay. The waitress was nice, but had lots of tables so wasn’t very responsive/attentive. There was a man busing and refilling waters that was very nice and always there, but he didn’t speak English hardly at all. Overall I was not impressed. Like others have said, too many other decent places to eat to go back here.
