The place is pretty cool. Wait staff very attentive. But… if you call yourself a pancake house, you better have good pancakes. These tasted like they came from an industrially-made tub of pancake batter that came off some giant food truck. Nothing special at all. The scrambled eggs and OJ were great. The bacon and coffee pretty good. Figure out how the kitchen can make the pancake batter from scratch, and charge more if you have to.

This was such a great find! The interior is quaint with interesting hanging light fixtures and eclectic chairs and the menu does not disappoint. With a party of 5 everyone in my group was very pleased with their meal. The pancakes were especially fluffy and delicious. I will be returning.

Everything was great. We both ordered a skillet and they were huge. They also came with 2 pancakes.

I wish elly’s was in NY so I can feast and dine all I want. The food here is delicious, and everyone here is super friendly. I can’t get over how great everything here was. They’re pretty busy but they have a lot of tables: HUGE place. My family and I came here for breakfast and we ordered the skillet and the Italian style omelette. The food came out fast and our server made sure everything was perfect. They have a big parking lot so parking isn’t a problem! And it’s close enough to downtown Chicago.

Love the food and service here. I highly recommend this place for breakfast. We come here once a week with family to eat and catch up and they have a really nice staff and don’t try to rush us out of the restaurant. We spend about 2 to 3 hours every time we go and get great service all the time. We always feel welcome at Elly’s.

This is about as mediocre as it gets. Pancakes are pasty and dry. They give you that cotton mouth feeling. Hashbrowns were dry and tasteless. The chocolate chip pancakes are just the regular pancakes with a scoop of chocolate chips on top… Or there’s do few chocolate chips inside you don’t notice. Pros… Clean Fast after we finally had our order taken Big and bright Cons… Bland food Very pricey for what you get. I would not come here again. Left lots of good on the plate and my son barely touched his chocolate chip pancakes which are his favorite. I love to go local whenever I can, but I would choose Denny’s or IHOP over this in a heart beat.

i am a major fan of Elly’s! They must know me and my mother by now, because this is our favorite Saturday morning spot. I have only had 1 semi bad experience at this place, and it was only with the front hostess when dealing with paying up front. The waiters are always kind, i have never had to send my plate back not once. They are usually pretty busy, but my wait has never been very long here. Frittatas are my fav here, also the pancakes are very good. They are not cheap with the coffee either! Great spot

3.5 Stars. I ordered the«make your own» skillet so I decided to put corn beef hash, feta cheese, spinach and mushroom. It was good but lacked something. I think the fact that there was only 2 small eggs cracked over the top of it was kinda a let down for such a big skillet. I must say it was one if the biggest skillets I have ever had. Waitress was kind of not so good. When I received my skillet she brought me cottage cheese instead of putting Feta cheese in the skillet. Major disappointment. Who puts cottage cheese in their skillet? Waitress also forgot to bring butter and syrup for my wife’s pancakes and was no where to be found. Plus the pancakes were NOT very good. She ordered the Latina omelet and it was Excellent. I tried it. lol! She loved it also! Anyways I might give them another chance or I might not. Maybe next time I will just try the Blossum café down the street.

The place is very nice and spacious and the food is good. Unfortunately the waitress we had was not a people person. She rolled her eyes when I requested for the smoothie menu. She also rolled her eyes at another table at two ladies that had ordered. And, to top it off as she passed by our table without eye contact she scratched her left butt cheek. Yeah, I’m not coming here again!!!

Not only did my husband and I enjoy a delicious breakfast today at Elly’s, but our waitress Kelly was fantastic! I’m a pretty needy customer when it comes to my food and service and she took excellent care of us. She was very positive, upbeat, and waited on us with a smile. I really appreciate that when I go out to eat. I’ve been to Blossom Café down the street from Elly’s twice before and left the restaurant each time before ordering because the hostess and wait staff were rude. I will never go back to the Blossom Café, but I’ll definitely be back to Elly’s! Kelly is awesome!

Love the atmosphere Amazing food Amazing service Try the strawberry topped blintze stuffed with ricotta and cottage cheese Turkey patties as sides were a great addition for the protein I was looking for(allergic to eggs) They also have gluten free toast! Perfect for my pops who can’t eat wheat. :) And don’t forget to get your fresh cup of juice– we tried the grapefruit and orange, but they have lots of options to choose from including smoothies

Much better than your average breakfast joint. The food is pretty good. Salads, if you are a chick of course, are huge and delicious. You can’t go wrong. Omelettes and pancakes are also very good. Give this place a try when in the neighborhood. French fries are better-than-average as well. I recommend this place. It’s by far the healthiest option on this stretch of Cumberland Avenue. A refreshing break from hot dogs, hamburgers and gyros. The normal staple of the Northwest side.

Elly’s did not disappoint. In fact it exceeded expectations. Our server, Arturo, was eggcellent. I started with their fresh juice, springilicious, substituting carrots for the orange. It was very good as was their fresh OJ. My partner in crime for breakfast ordered the Dutch baby, yummy. I had the skillet with chorizo. Sensational!!! It is in my top 5 all time favorite breakfast creations. Hash browns on the bottom, chorizo/onions/jalapeños in the middle, a layer of cheese and then 2 eggs. Mmmmmm mmmm good. We would definitely come back if we were in the area.

I loved this place! Years ago I had a mean BF that brought me here and refused to wait the lousy 30 minutes to eat on a Sunday morning. I am smarter now though. This year I was with a man that waited. This place was actually worth waiting a few years! It was that good. The wait went by pretty quick. I don’t think we waited over 20 minutes or so and it was packed! Our server was friendly and fast. She did forget my soup but apologized and made up for it. It was no big deal. My skillet was cooked the exact way I asked. I cant even remember what my BF ordered because I was so busy shoving food in my face. The fresh juices are great too!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I am in Chicago for a day and needed a place to pick up a quick breakfast before an interview. I came around 8 am and was immediately seated in their huge dining room. The service was quick and appropriate. It maybe took 5 mins for me to get my meal after I ordered. That’s what I call service! I ordered the #1 pancake special which includes fresh squeezed orange juice as a side. It definitely was fresh squeezed, and fantastic. The special included the juice, two pancakes, two eggs, 2 strips of bacon and a sausage link. Not bad for $ 8.50 and Chicago prices. The scrambled eggs were not overdone, bacon was crispy, and pancakes were fluffy and tasty. It’s a simple breakfast, but you’d be surprised how easy it is screw up. They did not. Overall: just a solid breakfast spot. If I’m ever back in the area, I will stop back again.

If you’re a breakfast food snob like I am I wouldn’t recommend coming here. I came for a late lunch with coworkers and Elly’s was practically empty and yet we had to wait to be seated because there was no hostess anywhere in sight. The food and service overall was mediocre to poor at best. I ordered the Olé omelette which had chorizo, jalapenos, cheddar cheese, salsa and sour cream. When I dug into the skillet, it was extremely watery! Blech! The eggs weren’t cooked, the chorizo was super greasy and I know it typically is, jalapenos were concentrated in the middle of the omelette, and overall the dish was super heavy. Our waitress barely checked on us and we had to wait before we got our check. Maybe I had a bad experience but based on my first visit here I wouldn’t recommend it.

My boyfriend and I just got off our flight at O’hare and needed a bite to eat close by because we were driving 2 hours to Milwaukee right away. We found this spot that got a lot of reviews and decided to give it a shot. Their corned beef has is certainly above average, but everything else about their breakfast food is standard. But make sure that you get the german pancakes(NOTE: it takes 30 minutes to cook, so make sure you’re either not that hungry or willing to wait — they note this on the menu as well). We’ve never heard of or had a german pancake before, and when it came out, we were shocked at how huge it was. We’ve been looking for another place around our neck of the woods in Boston to get a german pancake but have yet to be successful. If you’re in and around the airport and just want some decent breakfast food, this is your spot.

Sometimes it pays to wait, as one gets experiences one hadn’t bargained for. In this case the waiting was for the half of our party that ran late(though the restaurant kindly seated us before they arrived). One of the Daves got the excellent idea to order a couple of Dutch Baby pancakes as appetizers to share, and I got to try one for the first time in memory — and loved them all the more when I was shown how to eat it with an ample squeeze of lemon! And then I was nearly too full to want to order anything else once the other folks arrived, but where would be the fun in that? and so I decided to see how Chicago does with my beloved potato pancakes. Verdict: Not bad. They clearly understand what a latke is supposed to be(read: not a hash brown) and served it with the right kind of accompaniments(read: sour cream and apple sauce). I still like the ones I make better, but then again at least this time I got to enjoy them without breaking an oven range in the process, so all in all it was a win.
