Grilled chicken sandwich is just like any quick deli– But… I ordered a grilled chicken meal & got a small sized beverage, it totaled 8 something and I tipped 1 dollar. I noticed the owner didn’t particularly show any hospitality with me. He didn’t show me where the ketchup was at, I asked for hot sauce and he dropped bbq on the counter like I was an alien. Then when it came to getting a Togo container, I approached him friendly and smiled — he dropped the styrofoam away from where I was standing at and walked back to reading his newspaper. This will be the last time I eat here. I didn’t feel welcome.

I think the management change here since they changed from Scoops to Mr. Zee’s II. I go here all of the time but ever since their staff changed, I have has nothing but bad experiences here. The service counter is nothing but rude and forget to put items in your bag for a take out order. Be sure to double check your bags and expect an attitude when you ask the service counter if everything is in your bagged order. Rudeness is not on the menu but they are very generous in giving it to you for free. I will not be going back to this ever, I had enough.

Ok food, they had a recent remodel I can’t really tell what they changed, it wasn’t a lot, but there’s definitely room for improvement and opportunity for it but it’s not my place so i don’t care. For a quick bite it’s ok, depends what you get also if you get a plate you get ok portions of food. Not high quality definitely can tell when it’s a little old like salad and potatoes. Could be cleaned more often the lobby needs more attention. People a times seem not to be doing to much they could clean the lobby or the tables.

Gyros was ok. But can’t believe how small it is. Wow is all I had to say. Very disappointed.

Gyro plate is good here and not super expensive like other places around here. Service is good with the usual staff. The name just changed to Mr Zees II however the menu seems to be the same. Looks like they are upgrading their outdoor seating by the summer.

This place is nasty overpriced and the owner is a dick. If u get a burger u will need to use the toilet 30 minutes after eating it. As for the the gyros plate I don’t how you can get that wrong, it’s always rdy the fries are horrible and the veggies taste old and oily. I don’t know how this place stays in bizz.

First off, this place is not closed. I currently hold an order ticket from there in my hand which I received yesterday, so those reporting this place to be closed are inaccurate. I will most likely avoid this place in the future, however, because of the following experience. I got to the counter to place my order. I asked for a grilled chicken breast sandwich, and that part of the order process went fine. Things derailed, however, when I attempted to order rice pilaf, as identified on the menu. The woman taking my order looked puzzled, and said, «I don’t think we have that». It was then my turn to be puzzled, as it was clearly there on the far left menu, in the middle of the right column under the category of «Sides», allegedly at the price of $ 2.something. There are also pictures of orderable assemblages of varieties of food, defined as Plates, some of which were clearly visibly incorporating rice pilaf, playing a seemingly pivotal role in the definition of a certain plates, one example of which would be the Half Greek Chicken Dinner. Seeing all of this, I said,“Pardon?” The young woman taking my order looked at me blankly. Pointing, I said,“But it’s right there on the menu.” She then lackadaisically swiveled her head in a fruitless effort to peer at the menu at which I was pointing, and arrived at the conclusion that she couldn’t actually read the menu from her vantage point, which was to her the only investigation this situation required. She then resumed her blank stare, although this time seemingly with a slight aspect of mystification. I was stumped. Uncertain as how to proceed from there, or what the rationalization was for running out of what seemed to be a core menu item, I then pitched the only scenario for which I could conceive logically arriving at this conclusion: «So, you’re out of it, today?» The young woman latched on to this with a visible look of relief and, nodding her head, said,“Yes, we’re out of it today.” Not really satisfied with this answer, I concluded my order and paid, after which I sat down on one of the convenient chairs placed neatly in a row opposite the counter. A few moments later she called an order number and a man came up to the counter to get his order(the aforementioned Half Greek Chicken Plate), in the middle of which was a steaming mound of rice pilaf. An older woman appeared at the counter beside the younger one, and I caught her attention. I said, «Excuse me, what was with the chicken on that man’s plate?» She curiously replied,“Rice Pilaf.” I asked,“So you have Rice Pilaf?” She confirmed that they did. I then asked,“Then why was I just told that you don’t have any?” The older woman looked at the younger woman and they hastily exchanged words. The only snippet I caught was from the younger woman:“He already ordered”. A telephone rang and the older woman produced and answered a cordless handset, disappearing through a door somewhere towards the back left, leaving me alone with the young woman. Twenty minutes had now passed from the time of my initial order. I briefly started to entertain a scenario that would allow me to order some rice pilaf when the young woman called out my order, extending her hand with a bag that contained among other things a foil wrapped chicken breast sandwich. As I took the bag from her hand, she said,“Ooooh, you wanted rice. You threw me off with ‘Rice Pilaf’.” She spread her hands as if to communicate that she was perfectly justified in her puzzlement. Such was my stunned disbelief in that incredulous moment that I don’t quite remember the response I tendered as I then exited. Needless to say, most likely not again. The chicken sandwich was ok, decent Greek spices, but way too much mayo and vinegar for my taste.

Large portions? HA! I just had the smallest gyros sandwich ever. Very little meat, gone in 4 bites. Ripoff. All food made to order? No! The pre-made Greek salad had mealy tomatoes and wilted cukes. This place is a ripoff and should be avoided. And Mr Slick behind the counter should work on his attitude…(unless you’re a pretty girl).

Evrytime i would go there i would wait 40+ plus minutes even if theres barely people. People cooking take their silly time playing around and still not make good food. Food just isnt good and the employees arent very kind. There are way way way better restaurants better around there.

Went in this place tonite with my boyfriend. First, it is always a bad sign when you say hello to the girl behind the counter and she says nothing back. Then there was a guy behind the counter who never even acknowledged us… just kept playing around with his cell phone… Talk about a super unfriendly staff… Anyway we were very hungry and ordered the hot dogs and fries… i took one bite and was disgusted… it tasted like it had been swimming in water since the early hours of the day… i looked at the other end and it was a grayish color… then the few fries i ate were just awful… they were half cooked… we threw away the food and headed out for somewhere decent to eat… what a waste of $ 10…i live in this area but i will NEVER set foot in this place again… if i could give this place zero stars i sure as heck would…

Lots of people mention toots in their review, well that place is long gone so I’ll review Scoops. Service is decent, one employee kind of rubs me the wrong way, but whatever I might rub him the wrong way. They got a big money and I normally get the chicken breast dinner. It might not be gourmet food, but you get a lot of it with a variety. I like the lemon egg soup a lot. The inside is nice and has a lot of tables and waiting area if you ordered take out. A few complaints are sometimes the parking lot is packed and the spoons they give you will slice the inside of my mouth.

This place is starting to make progress. I noticed a lot of improvements in the last year. The staff seems much friendlier. They have a Greek dressing that is out of this world. They have a couple of the locations East of Eden is west of Eden and Mr. Z’s but the salad dressings taste different at all of them. You gotta be consistent. I’m not sure what the theory was a naming them differently. Instead of keeping all the names the same. Because when you walk in the menus all look the same that’s how I put 2&2 together.

Stopped in for lunch while waiting for my oil change at the Mobile across the corner. I remember this being Toot’s, but I’ve never had the chance to check it out. I liked how clean the place was, that’s very important. They offer the regular Greek fast food fare: gyros, shish kebabs, Greek salad as well as red hots and burgers. They’re called Scoop’s bc of the soft serve, unfortunately I was too full to try it. Maybe next time? I ordered the gyros special with fries and a drink. There was a lot of meat on my sandwich, just the right amout of tzatziki, onions and tomato. My fries were nice and crispy. The drink I thought was a little small and they do charge for refills. But then again, I’m always in need of extra hydration with my meal so I guess it’s a matter of taste. The service was very quick for a made-to-order meal. No more than 5 mins of waiting and there was a family of four ahead of us. The flat screen TV was a nice touch, and it was tuned to ESPN so I could catch up with my football highlights. In sum, it was a very satisfying experience and I would definitely recommend Scoop’s to anyone.

Do not step into Scoops. I am serious. Don’t. Not only is the place filthy, but in the neighborhood news, it was said that they almost failed a health inspection on May 25, 2012. They received only a citation. This place makes you want Toot’s back — desperately. Scoops isn’t the best of anything, really.. . So just hold in your hunger a bit longer and head over toward another restaurant in the neighborhood that actually tastes good. There isn’t much I can really say about this place.

Just a little bit of advice. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Don’t assume that Scoop’s is an ice cream place because it’s name is «Scoop» as a previous reviewer complained about. Besides, ice cream isn’t the only food substance that is scooped. You got sloppy joe. That stuff is sometimes scooped. Tang. You have the option of scooping that into a glass of water to make a drink. Ground coffee is another item that may be scooped to make a different type of drink. Sour cream… you get the picture. The food is pretty good, however I am sometimes at a loss as to whether I’m getting too little for my buck, or if I’m getting just the right amount, and Scoop’s doesn’t believe in over-consumption. The gyro sandwich has about half the meat I would get at another place for just about the same price. You get one hotdog in a hotdog special for the same price you would get two in many other establishments. This could also very well be a result of our economy. But until someone can answer the question as to why I’m paying so much for half of what I get at other places for the same price, I will have to round this down to three stars.

I remember Toot’s well. It was a nonstop party during the summer. Even if you never ate there, all you had to do was drive by to realize that this was THE place for the youth of the neighborhood to stand around, yell and scream at each other and passing cars, and sometimes even eat. Toot’s legacy will not die anytime soon. Toot’s food was standard greasy food, and so is Scoops’…the main differences are that Scoop’s doesn’t have quite the variety of ice creams, and that this new place isn’t very conducive to hanging out. Where Toot’s had a larger outdoor«patio» area with more tables, Scoops is more of an indoor dive. Anyway, I came here once since it became Scoops and didn’t care too much for it. Places like this are a dime a dozen in Chicago, and there are plenty others like it or better that i can go to that are within walking distance(or a shorter drive) of my home.

The food is pretty good for the price and that’s a 3 star The complaint i have is for the manager that works there! He acts as if he owns the place, very rude and i even heard when he went off on a customer screming at her sayng that his the owner! and that the customer is wrong! Now that’s not how you run a business! i hope the REALOWNER will read this and put him in place! but i will stop by also and find the owner to mention few other issues i had with this place. I BEEN A CUSTOMERATTHEIROTHERLOCATIONSINCETHEYFIRSTOPEN: MR’Zs on irving park and never had a issue there everyone is nice and never had a problem with my food or attitude there! But scoops is a diffrent story, and i hate that because of the little guy(that thinks is the owner) i don’t want to return! oh well to bad

I’m giving this place a four-star review because everyone who gave it a review less than three stars is only comparing it to Toots. Scoops is not a replacement for Toots, they are not responsible for the tearing down of Toots, and they do not specialize in ice cream. Scoops has pretty decent food. Chicken Kabob Pita is quite tasty and the Greek style dinners are as well. Everything else is okay. Overall, it’s a good place to have in the neighborhood.
