Toots Drive Thru

Onion and Garlic Fries. Fried Mac N Cheese Balls. Giant dipped ice cream cone. These things defined my childhood living near Portage Park. Riding my bike up to the Toots shack at Montrose and Central and then having my ice cream drip all over the shitty picnic tables outside was a near daily tradition.
It has been years since Toots closed and the lovable stoners that controlled the menu were forced to find new jobs. RIP Toots you delicious motherfucker, there will never be another shack like you.

This place is literally a shack. It’s the only place I ever stood in line and passed the time by reading the health inspector mandated failure notices… and didn’t care! It’s a shack, waddaya expect, there’s no room in there to store lots of stuff in accordance with rules. And my Hot dog tasted good and didn’t make me sick like they do at wiener circle.
So like most people say, they have good ice cream but I like their hot dogs too.

Yum! They’ve got a wide variety of fast food and drinks… their ice cream is so soft and awesome! Its pretty cheap too and the service is really fast!
