Great place to catch up with friends and grab drinks. Food is really good for a pub/bar I ordered a chicken sandwich and all the ingredients seemed really fresh. The sweet potatoe fries were a little over cooked but let’s be real I still ate every single one. I’d definitely come back for food and drinks.

The mac and cheese is surprisingly the best mac and cheese in Old town, maybe in all of Chicago. That might be saying a lot but it’s seriously awesome. My husband and I have gotten the groupon her a few times so we’ve tried a few of the appetizers and enjoy the often change in tap. We’ve also been here for a couple of big events(craft beer week and bcb tapping). The staff is always friendly, which we can greatly appreciate.

I love this place. I used to live around the corner before moving to San Francisco, and whenever I am in Chicago I try to make it here. It is cozy, friendly, the food is decent — this ain’t no haute cuisine mind you, it is more like a sports bar menu — and the owners and staff are friendly. If you live in Lincoln Park, Old Town, you should definitely stop by.

This place is definitely a dive bar, but the food was great, the whiskey flight fun, and the service good. It was pretty quiet the night we went, but we preferred that. We ordered the poutine and, while I wouldn’t call it a poutine in the traditional sense, it was still extremely delicious and very filling. One order easily fills up two people and as an app could be good for 4 — 6 people. The whiskey flight was fun; I have no whiskey experience so I can’t speak to quality, but we enjoyed it and are server was nice and explained the different ones. Overall, not a bad place to start out your night with a cheap app and some whiskey.

The chicken tenders were great and almost a full meals worth. I ordered the Stockyard melt for my main course — it was good but not great. It was a lot of food for $ 12, but I thought that it was way too greasy. It did take a little longer than I would have thought to get our food though. It’s a pretty chill bar on the edge of Old Town — a pretty good beer selection and some TVs to watch a game. But it is small with limited seating so I wouldn’t try coming here with a large group.

This place has been in my neighborhood for a while so I decided to try it with my friend(who also lives close and comes often). I had Bloody Mary, chicken sandwich, and beers(which happened to be on special for happy hour). I really didn’t know what to expect, but surprisingly everything was very good. I loved my sandwich and the Bloody Mary was decent too. Prices are pretty average for Chicago, service was friendly, and I’ll definitely be back.

Burgers were cooked perfectly, beer selection is decent. Service was ok, we would have appreciated acknowledgement when we came in.

Always noticed this place when hopping on the brown line at Sedwick, and jumped on the opportunity to check it out when I noticed a groupon deal. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a snack, and it was pretty mellow and laid back. Our server was super friendly and had recommended the pork belly poutine to share between my friend and I. I’m still drooling over remember how tender and juicy the pork belly was. Instead of using traditional fries they used potato wedges which was also a nice touch. The craft beer selection is great and they have a nice variety of styles. Definitely worth a stop by! Til next time cheers!

Went here with my fiancé for lunch on a Saturday. Is a small and quiet bar. They had good beer selections. The wings were amazing and some of the best French fries I ever had. Give The wings a chance when you are there, you won’t be disappointed. The staff were very nice. Is a place I plan to go back to often. It was very welcoming.

This place is a gem! I hope Jay is your bartender as he is the best! Very funny interesting guy. we weakness from the Gold Coast which was about 25 minutes but totally worth it. Beautiful neighborhoods and people along the way. As for the bar, it’s very nice and clean with tv’s and cool bare ware. Highly recommend.

I recently joined my friends who frequently dine here and they recommended we all go here because they have had good experiences here before. Our waitress was very nice and the service was good. I had the friend cauliflower buffalo sauce appetizer which was just ok and a raspberry beer which again was just ok as well. The issue came when we were closing our tabs. We all were closing our tabs when the manager confronted our group and asked to check IDs because only 21+ are allowed past a certain time, so that’s fine. We all are in our mid-late twenties so there was no issue however the manager was VERY rude to us when asking for IDs and was claiming that someone was not 21 even though we all just showed them proof. It came off a little rude and made it awkward but I understand she was trying to do her job and make sure we weren’t underage. So a girl in our group pulled the manager aside to let just let her know that the way she asked us was rude and for regularly attending customers, she didn’t appreciate the way she made us feel, which was not welcomed. Instead of the manager taking responsibility and apologizing for thinking we were underage, the manager argued with my friend and got our waitress involved stating that we were trying to blow off our waitress by not showing her our IDs. She also made claims that we are supposed to leave within 10 minutes of closing our tabs. I understand, the business of a restaurant is to turn tables over to make money but when your customer is still finishing their drinks, they are not going to just leave(and especially when the whole place is empty so there’s not a line of people waiting). This was such a stupid experience and I hate to be explaining this but all in all, I work in the service industry and the way the manager conducted herself and made our whole group feel terrible after we just dined there is NOT the way to treat customers. Instead of simply apologizing and taking ownership she argued and made other excuses for why she took the tone with us. This poor review is solely based on the management and the wait staff as our waitress did not defend us and lied to her manager to probably save her job. I HOPE the owners read this and look into who is running their bar and think about changing the way this manager conducts herself because she is driving away business. I will not be coming back to this place along with the rest of our group. I know a lot of people in the area and I will not be recommending this place from now on unless management changes. I do not know the relationship of the manager to the establishment but I hope someone holds her accountable.

Not a bad place. My former Manhattan, KS self loves the K-State flag outside. I ordered the standard burger with avocado. A tad pricey, but it was good. Nice portion of avocado, a toasted bun, and nicely cook beef. Nomz. Plus, their fries are cool shaped. The kid in me got a kick out of that.

Since one of my best friends is an aspiring performer, I wind up at a lot of Second City shows. A LOT. Sedgwick Stop is my new go-to for dinner(or just drinks) before heading to the theater. It’s never been too crowded, and service has been excellent. They have an extensive selection of beers and specialize in whiskey. Their flights seem to be a really good value if you’re interested in sampling new drinks! They have some standard bar fare on the menu, but I tried(and loved) the pulled pork nachos. I will definitely keep coming back!

This place has a really nice casual and comfortable vibe to it. Brought a friend to use a groupon here for a beer, wine, or whiskey flight and appetizer. Because it’s only for 1 flight and a shared app, I’m not sure why the groupon requires two people, and it’s awkward to share a flight of anything, but that was really my only complaint. My friend and I weren’t in the mood to drink much anyway, so the red wine flight providing four tastings, giving us 2 tastings each worked out. The wines weren’t my favorite, but I’m no connoisseur and drank them anyway. For our app, we ordered the mushroom and goat cheese quesadilla and were told it was small, so we ordered the plain chicken tenders as well. The quesadilla was quite flavorful and goat cheesy, which I love, and the chicken tenders were crisp and well-seasoned. Our server was friendly and attentive and the crowd seemed fun and easygoing, early on a Friday night. I would definitely come back.

For all of you math geeks, I’ll describe this place with some pretty simple arithmetic: Good food + good ambiance + good draft beer menu + good waitstaff + good location + knowledgeable bartender = always a good experience! And, did I mention beer flights?

Great place. Not in my hood, but always solid when I’m around. Very respectable bourbon selection and food is better than average. Owner behind bar? Good guy for sure. Worth the trip.

My girlfriend and I went here after she got the Groupon for whiskey flights and food. It was great. The service was wonderful, I got to try some new bourbon, she tried some new beers. Our server was knowledgeable and helped us order some food to complement the drinks. We started with the pulled pork nachos to maximize the value from the Groupon. They were excellent. GETTHEMEATLOAF. It was a meatloaf cupcake that we split. It had some green beans and mashed potatoes that I can’t say enough good things about. I’m writing this review months later and I vividly remember how good this meatloaf dish was.

We tried out the beer and whiskey flights and appetizers with the aid of a Groupon(mentioned upfront) on a quiet Sunday afternoon and received some of the best service, drinks, and bites we’ve had in the city. The server, who had, in all, about 7 tables to wait, was definitively gracious with advice and patient in assisting us in navigating the beverage choices which were modest in number yet impressive in quality. The local craft beers were well-selected and the whiskey pours were more than generous. Casual in atmosphere, the SS is tastefully-appointed while not being more than it promises: a local bar with good eats. Upon ordering our apps, the waiter took care to mention that the chef was experimenting with a few off-menu dishes, including some amazing shrimp salad-topped brioche triangles which were immaculately savory, filling, and in a word: divine. We followed up with some fried pickles, slowly made our way through our drinks and left with tummies full and happy. The fare at Sedgwick Shop is more than just bar food yet unpretentious all while generous and tasty, delivered with personable and genuine service. What’s not to love? 5 stars.

True story: WAY back in the day(ok, 7+ years ago) this was Angelo’s Taverna, and I used to work here. Not the more recent Angelo’s, but the Mediterranean restaurant Angelo’s that was right around the corner from the homestead. I have not been back since my last day there but always thought the right bar and/or right restaurant would shine here. Sedgwick Stop is not one of them. Lots of things are so wrong about this place, and I know they are new, so I am hoping that they can get it right. But to highlight a few notables… The service. I felt bad for our poor, apologetic waitress, as she seemed like she was either new to serving altogether or just severely in over her head. Granted, she did not really have the support system she needed. I took a look around the place and noticed the presence of 1(possible) food runner, 2 bartenders, and another guy just kind of running all over the place. It was kind of annoying that there were 2 bartenders tending to a bar of people sitting and casually sipping beverages. If it was a college bar with drunk 20-somethings waving Benjamins in your face every 3 seconds trying to buy a bucket of Coors Light, sure, have some extra ammo behind the bar. If not, get the bartenders checking on tables. As a result, service on the floor suffered. Oy vey. The menu. Not bad, but pretty limited overall. Standard bar fare, including appetizers, sandwiches and large plates. I built my own burger for $ 14.00, which could be a deal or not based on what toppings you choose for your 3. I was most appreciative of the fact that you could substitute a salad for fries as a side without an upcharge. I never understood why restaurants will charge $ 1.50+ for a handful of leaves on your plate. The drink menu was, really, my biggest issue. The list is moderately sized, with several taps and quite a few bottles, and is comprised mainly of local and craft beer selections. The first three beers I wanted were out of stock so I had to spend an abnormal amount of time finding one I wanted. Most beers were over $ 6 and, kid you not, I nearly crapped myself when I saw a bottle of Lagunitas Lil Sumpin’ Sumpin’ was $ 8. EIGHTDOLLARS?! Complete highway robbery. I am sure it’s tough to open a bar and know what to price things, but… wow. I think the beer special that night was a $ 5312, which is hardly a special. I decided on an IPA and it came back with a bit too much head for my liking(and I love head, obviously). I am pretty sure I ended up with about ¾ of a beer once it went down(bahahaha, get it?!). If I were coming to this bar for longer than just a drink and a quick bite I would easily have dropped an excessive amount of money. It was a bit of a let down considering there are so many cheaper bars with a better overall experience within 2 blocks. But, with anything new, there is hope, so I won’t write them off completely just yet. Besides, they have that killer patio… if Winter ever ends.
