First time at this establishment I phoned in my order, surprise! surprise! surprise! I ordered¼ lbs of jumbo Chicago style shrimp and ¼lbs jumbo garlic shrimp I wish I had a menu, I paid over $ 9.00for four shrimps. The Chicago style shrimps was a little tough, but I must say the garlic shrimps was very good before I go back I will check out the menu first, and I will not order jumbo shrimp. Bön appétit

I thought the Chicago style shrimp was excellent! The 1lb meal deal was perfect for two people to share(unless you are very hungry or don’t like to share). I will most definitely be back again soon! The shrimp cocktail … So yummmmmmy

The 12 points you must know about Southside Shrimp. 1. Always have a backup order, and a backup to that order as well as far as what you want on the menu. They’re always out of pretty much everything on the menu. And thats not because they’re busy, but because they don’t know how to order enough food. 2. If you order anything«Chicago style», prepare for some unique smelling flatulence to come out your body and/or some light greazy, yes with a z, diarrhea. 3. They have the best homemade cocktail sauce, ever. 4. You’re not allowed to disagree with point #3. 5. They don’t sell it, so the nearest place to quickly buy a beer on the go with your meal is at the 7-Eleven on 111th and Kedzie. 21+ only of course. They card hard. Drink Responsibly 6. This place is always empty when I go. Always. 7. You can call ahead for food but there’s really no reason to because they cook it freshly so fast. 8. They deliver. The boundaries are 87th to 127th streets from Longwood Drive to Cental Ave. Sorry my people, they dont deliver to the hood. 9. There’s always parking right out front. 10. They dont only sale shrimp but a whole variety of seafood. 11. They accept cash and credit cards 12. The shrimp themselves are of good quality, very thick, and meaty. That is all.

I got the Jumbo Shrimp meal and the Chicken Salad Wrap. The meal was reminiscent of Goose island but better. Unlike Goose Island, I prefer my shrimp fried hard. I had plenty of shrimp in the meal. PLEASELOOSETHEMILKYMACARONIORCOLESLAW. Unless its fresh or homemade it’s gross. I could appreciate a small fruit or side salad. The wrap was better than I expected. The Chicken Salad is pretty tasty similar to mine. I will go back. There is no other seafood place in my area. Like every other place in Hyde it closes early. I hope as they get busy the stay open a little later and the get rid of the gross milky sides that really don’t get eaten.

This place was better when it was Frank’s. We stopped in for carry out. First, they ran out of the jumbo shrimp, so we couldn’t get a pound, but he gave us an extra ¼ of the Chicago style to make it up, which was fine. All the shrimp tasted good, and Chicago style has a nice flavor to the batter. On to the sides. We got some fries and an assortment of onion rings, cauliflower, and mushrooms. Most of those were ok until I opened the onion rings. They were all burnt, drying out, and downright disgusting. Being that I have worked in the food industry for years, serving up black, burnt to a crisp food SOULD be considered unacceptable. No one wants to pay for garbage. I wish I would have known that before we got home. Especially for what they charge, I don’t think we will be returning.

The shrimp batter is too thick and not tasteful. The catfish seems to have the same batter. Not a good place for seafood.

It would’ve been nice to have a quality seafood place in Hyde Park… but again brand food takes up restaurant space in HP. Nothing is seasoned… the quality of the seafood seems pretty good but if they could just season the food!!! They’re squandering a good opportunity to have something unique in the community!!!

It’s a good place for a quick bite. Nothing fancy about it, but it serves it’s purpose. Everyone there is friendly and helpful, also. There are some things I’ve gotten that are really good and some that are pretty average, but I’ve never gotten anything that was bad. The soups are particularly tasty(ESP the corn, shrimp chowder.)

Disappointed. Little seasoning, if any, on the chicken wings. No shrimp found in the Shrimp and corn chowder. Cesar salad was good. Will not return though. I have better things to do with my money.

This was truly terrible. I came here with friends expecting plump fresh fish and flavorful shrimp and got neither. The breeding was three times as thick as the fish and the food was tasteless. Not worth the money and I should have stuck with my golden rule: if it’s empty don’t eat there.

its pretty much a greasy spoon with deep friend everything. I ordered delievery not knowing what to expect after reading the menu which they threw about 5 on my front porch. I ordered the shrimp, hush puppies, and catfish nuggets. the shrimp was OK unseasoned but good quality. the batter on everything. wasnt to my liking and everything seamed unseasoned now that I this k about it. anyway just another mediocre restaurant to add to the long list of bad restaurants in hyde park with low standards.
