Never disappoints me. Hands down hilarious. Very interactive. Fun atmosphere and fun raffle. Great Food and Drinks. Just awesome. Totally recommend it! (One of the comedians reminds me of Aziz Ansari, which is awesome)

This place is the best! As a self proclaimed comedy nerd I could not be happier finding a truly underground place to watch a comedy show. It takes place in the basement lounge of Stanley’s Kitchen and Tap. They have a great burger special on Mondays and cheap drinks to match which with the 5 dollar show makes for one affordable night of food and comedy. All the comics we saw were hilarious. The stage is a total DIY feel which I personally love. It gives the whole show this feel of passion for laughter and performing which energizes the entire room. Kenny hosted the show and was super comfortable on stage and then Derrick had me laughing at everything. The headliner was Sean Flannery who had a slide show detailing the ways he almost died. I can’t remember laughing so hard at a live show! The cast apparently rotates with new comics every week and I will definitely be back very soon, can’t recommend it enough!

saw the show on monday for the first time based on previous Unilocal reviews and it was as amazing as expected! i went for my boyfriends birthday which i had told them about so they ripped on us and joked with us and even got him a birthday shot! very very funny and entertaining comedy and for only $ 5 you can’t go wrong. i can honestly say i was cracking up almost the entire time. it takes place in stanleys tap which has $ 5 build your own burgers on mondays and great drink specials as well. i will be going back again this coming monday! thanks for a great time speak easy comedy!

What better way is there to start the week but with comedy? And what better location than right on the border of Lincoln Park and Old Town? Speakeasy comedy’s current venue is Stanley’s Tap,(which I am not reviewing here because all I did is drink their beer.) But you can order food and drink their beer in the wonderful little underground space that this comedy show occupies. I love going into the basement for comedy, It’s so New York. So beat generation. So Jack Kerouac. So underground. My friend Bernard and I got a nice table up front in a room which may hold about an audience of 40 or so. The show was supposed to start at 8:30, but with a few technical glitches, things got underway around 9PM with a great lineup of six comedians. Jeff Steinbrunner, who just has a natural comedian’s name was the producer and MC of this show. He warmed us up and peppered the entire show with his keen observational wit and charm. Kenny DeForest shared his embarrassing relationship stories, DUI experiences and an uncanny ability to overeat at McDonald’s. Maggie Ednie had some real embarrassing dating stuff to share, and Cameron Gillette was hilarious in his deadpan delivery of serial, unrelated string of mostly dorky and self-deprecating little narratives. Then there was the energetic Ricky Gonzalez who delivered the funniest childhood narcissistic sports fantasy I have ever heard. The headliner of the show was Prescott Tolk. And no, he is not a Dr. Suess character. He is a real person, and a natural comic with great stage presence. He was so good he made you think he was just your friend telling you some incredible work stories. Incisively funny ones. So our evening with Speak Easy Comedy was as good as it gets. How can you go wrong with so much original and talented live entertainment for a $ 10 admission?(It’s $ 5 per person for a group.) I hope to be back soon. I would highly recommend it. Bring your friends. Have a burger and a beer and a lot of laughs. And oh, I forgot to say, it’s every Monday at Stanley’s.
