The ramen looks great but too salty for me. Uden is about $ 1 per piece, kind of over priced.

Me and my boyfriend ate here and it was real yummy! My boyfriend got the ramen and I got the beef rice bowl. The food looked good, smelled good, and tasted good. Our waiter was a real cool dude he had blonde hair I should of asked for his name but he was real nice, helpful, and funny! He made our first time here one to remember. It’s also BYOD our waiter was so nice we left him our last beer. Good job strings!

I think I’ve tried every thing on the menu from the ramen to rice bowls! My personal favorite ramen from here would have to be the shoyu ramen. The shoyu ramen is very light, the broth is still clear and delicious! As you go down the menu the broth becoming more rich and butter like? I couldn’t really enjoy the tonkatsu ramen. I felt like the broth was too thick and butter like feeling down my throat. Overall this place is nice. Service is okay they are busy most of the time when I dine there. Downside, they don’t let you order for takeout for ramen! :(But you can order rice bowls for to go as well as the yakisoba.

We went there at about 7pm on a Friday night and it was packed. They don’t take reservations, so be prepared to wait.(highly worth it though) Pros: –amazing broth(they actually had a REALLY good vegan broth option, which is hard to find!) –inexpensive.about $ 45 for 2 people –BYOB! –received free edamame for #hashtagging on twitter -«Hell broth» is a must try –extremely friendly service, attentive Cons: This isn’t really a con, but since the place was 100% packed when we got there, instead of having to wait for a table, they sat us in the far back area which was secluded from the main dining area where there are just 2 tables. I felt like we were sitting in the carry-out area… hard to describe. Still, it was nice that we got seated so quickly, and the service was great despite not being in the main area. Definitely check this place out! I am a fan!

Chinatown is one of my favorite spots in Chicago! During my last visit, I came to this ramen spot for dinner. There was a line outside the door, but we were able to get seated immediately. Their veggie ramen is delicious!

Portion sizes are small compared to the price. I got the pork belly with mine and I only got one small piece… I felt ripped off. For almost $ 15 – 20 you would think they’d give multiple pieces… not one small one. Even ordering extra noodles at the end… I still felt hungry. You’re better off going elsewhere for a better value with the same if not better quality.

Recently saw a story stating they were one of the top 10 ramen places in Chicagoland. Since many places are in the burbs or Northside, I got excited about a ramen place so close to Bridgeport. Got the to Tonkotsu ramen. Wanted the largest bowl they had on the menu, but they were out of a couple of ingredients. Instead got the«supreme» which was one step down. Ambiance — 3 out of 5 — could of done without the dubstep Ingredients — 5 out of 5 — absolutely delicious and traditionally authentic to what you’d get in Japan Portion — 2 out of 5 — if I’m paying $ 18 for a bowl of ramen, I better be full at the end and I wasn’t So take it all with a grain of salt. Ramen is expensive everywhere in Chicago, and I’ve yet to find a place where I feel the proportion to the cost were equal. I was spoiled living in Japan, and then moving back to Michigan where I could go to Matsu Chan in Canton.

Another cold-feeling day in Chicago, so warm ramen sounded like the right thing. This trip we got the Tonkatsu, a solid staple, but also branched out and tried the Kamo Yakisoba. The tonkatsu was creamy and savory, and just a bit slightly salty, delicious none the less. The Yakisoba has no broth, and the ingredients are stir fried and topped with an egg sunny-side up. It was a nice surprise at how much flavor the dish had. Also a tad on the salty side, it had a nice portion of duck breast(the kamo), with a few mushrooms and scallions, overall a bit skewed towards meat and noodles. It came with a side of dashi broth, which I think had more flavor than some of the full ramens on the menu, very good and I finished it in quick fashion.

I’m not a ramen expert, but I’ve had some good stuff in New York, and this was among the best ramen I’ve had! I went pretty classic and ordered the Tonkatsu with pork belly and egg, which came in a pretty hearty portion that I enjoyed to the last drop. The broth was outstanding — it had such deep flavors and was so earthy, with almost a nutty taste. The soft-boiled egg(shoyu tamago) was also incredible — our server said they marinate them in mirin and something like star anise. And I really liked the square-cut noodles, which tasted really substantial and homemade. Service was attentive and efficient. The space is pretty cozy. Overall, a really fantastic place to stop off the red line for something warm and delicious during the winter months!

Pretty darn busy! Pretty darn good ramen on a cold windy Chicago day! Get ready to wait about 15 – 20 mins. Found this small ramen shop thanks to fellow Unilocalers. I had the tonkotsu special(duck and chasu) and it was done just right. Very generous with the chasu(huge piece) and the duck was med rare which was perfect. Noodles lacked a bit of springiness like Ippudo(NYC) but I guess all ramen are different. Soup was not very salty(which I prefer) and very rich and creamy which is what I expect in a tonkotsu. Only gripe is that the soup was not piping hot for me(I prefer mine piping hot till the end). Service was prompt and friendly. They have a Hell Ramen contest if you can eat it in 20 mins then you get a $ 50 gift card and your bowl is free. Not worth killing my gut for(imo). Enjoy!

Literally my first time experiencing Ramen noodles so not able to compare or know what to expect, but the meal and service at Strings Ramen Shop was nice! It is a quaint little shop with very small bar side type tables. The waitress was kind enough to explain the menu and different kinds of ramen soup to order. My husband doesn’t like seafood too much so he ordered the Turkey Shio Ramen and I went with the decadent richer broth with Duck and Pork, Tonkotsu Ramen. I really liked the richness of the broth and the fullness of all the flavors. It was not over salty as described by other reviews. The only complaint I have is the cost of such an entrée? $ 15.95 for a couple of pieces of meat. I must be paying for the broth! The ramen noodle is something I have not experienced before and it was cooked al dente but at least it wasn’t like the instant ramen noodles you can buy at the store. Yes, I would come back but will try the Hell’s ramen for spiciness as that was lacking in the Tonkotsu.
