This place is awesome. I love the customer service. The gentleman behind the counter surprised me when he told me that he had already put my condiments in my bag. He said it with a smile, which I loved. The food is great. Support this working class family. They have something good going on here.

I am rarely one to post reviews however, I said that I would start giving credit where credit is due. sooooo, here goes. I found a card on my car’s windshield that was advertising a grand opening for a new seafood restaurant near my job. I saw fried lobster and wanted to go that day! I called the number and received a voice mail saying no one was available. After driving past there, I noticed there was paper still in the window. BUMMER! The next day, one of the tenants from the building and came in raving about a new seafood restaurant on 71st. When I told her it wasn’t open yet, she told me that it was their grand opening day. Later that evening, I called to order the fried lobster and the voice on the other end said«We just ran out of lobster» BUMMER, again. Lo and behold, I decided to give them a try yesterday and let me tell you, the 3rd time was the charm.(almost). I ordered the fried lobster and fried green tomatoes. Deelish. My only complaint was that my fries were wayyyyyyyy undercooked. I called the restaurant back and was quickly and sincerely apologized to by the owner. I decided to try something different today so I called my order in. 2 wings and ¼ pound of shrimp. When I got to the register, he gave me my total and of course I was shocked. He thought I asked for a pound of shrimp. Long story short, the owner was sitting at the counter and heard. She was very accommodating and that’s when I told her I was the girl that she had spoken with about the fries. She explained what happened and what they were doing to rectify the situation. The fries were really the least of my concern, as my mouth was watering for the SURF. All in all my experience was fantastic. Great to have a seafood restaurant INTHENEIGHBORHOOD that is not a chain owned by foreigners(Sharks/Baba’s/J&J’s) where you have to cover everything in lemon pepper and mild sauce for it to taste good. Everything(except the fries) was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly, the customer service is impeccable(rare in the black community) and is BLACKOWNED to boot. They have found a repeat customer in me and best believe, I will be spreading the word.

So I have tried many seafood restaurants in many places. Surfs up is top shelf. Love the fried lobster and the fried green tomatoes. They were just like my momma used to fix. Greens were great. I will be eating there often!

I tried the Fried Lobster dinner and the 1lb fried shrimp… first off the Lobster was delish! Tender and Moist .not overcooked Great fries(hand cut and not to greasy) the Shrimp were large and perfectly cooked and the breading was good. needs alittle more seasoning but overall very tasty and a great pound count . Good Job!
