Avocado bomb was delicious! The sushi burritos,(I got the Chi-Town) was also very good for the concept of merging a sushi and a burrito! The menu was quite small but I think people come here for the sushirritos anyways so it receives a good rating from me.

TERRIBLESERVICE! I will absolutely not return. If you read nothing further, just take this lesson from my experience: this place is not worth visiting and will likely ruin your day. I went here with a friend and my brothee who share my fondness of sushi. I was very happy to have a chance to try a sushi burrito. I ordered a salmon sushi burrito and my friend and brother ordered theirs. All was well. When our food arrived I immediately noticed a crab stick sticking out of my sushi burrito. I’m alergic to shellfish and not greatly effected by cross-contamination, but I have rather severe reactions to actual consumption of shellfish flesh. I said outlood, «I cannot eat this. I am allergic to shellfish.» Our waiter surely heard me as he was standing just inches from me, yet he immediately walked away as if to avoid dealing with the situation. He proceeded to clean tables and avoid eye contact with anyone at my table. I had to call to him to get him to come back. I again stated that I have an allergy to shellfish. I also stated that the MENUDOESNOTSTATETHATTHERE’S CRABINTHESUSHIBURRITO. His response was that most people ask what’s in the burrito before ordering. WHEN I ORDER A SALMONSUSHIIT’S JUSTSALMONSUSHIRIGHT? WHYWOULDORDERING A SALMONSUSHIBURRITOBEANYDIFFERENT? Please note here that the waiter never asked if we wanted everything in the sushi burrito or anything similar as to imply that it’s anything more than a large sushi roll. Next, I simply stated that all I wanted was to have the food replaced then with a new sushi burrito not containing shellfish. The response I got put me threw the roof:”(waiter sighs and rolls his eyes) Ok. Fine.” And then he took a plate from the table behind him and dropped it in front of me to have me place the Sushi Burrito on it. ITCONTAINSSHELLFISHWHICH I STATED I’M ALERGICTOANDNOWHEWANTSMETOTOUCHIT?! It wasn’t the words but the rude disposition and actionsof the waiter that drove me insane. After practically throwing the sushi burrito on the plate I demanded refused to have h serve me anything else. He then had the nerve to try to come to my table again. I demanded a manager and was told the manager was gone at the time. So I asked who was in charge and the cook, waiter and another employee all looked at me dumbfound. This place not only has terrible service, but clearly has no management structure in place to handle customer satisfaction issues and coach employees. I WILLNOTBEBACKAND I WILLCONTINUETOSPREADWORDOFHOWTERRIBLETHESERVICEISATTHISPLACE!

Went after seeing this place all over Facebook! The food is great! I got a shrimp sushi burrito and it was bigger than I thought and very filling. The flavor was great and it was very easy to eat. After that I got strawberry mochi which was equally amazing! The only sort of bad part was the service. Our waiter didn’t seem to know what he was doing. He was very kind but seemed confused and was bad at checking on us. The burrito came out REALLY quick and I think everything was decently priced.

I was a little upset at the portion size for the sumo sushi burrito especially after paying $ 7.99, the burrito was overall tasty but not filling in any way. Its the only place in chicago where i can obtain a spicy tuna burrito, but it was not worth waiting 45min for our food on top of waiting another 35−40min just to get the check. Not sure if ill visit again but its great to see that theres finally sushi burritos in chicago, if I want a sushi burrito ill be sure to go to the west coast for a real sushi burrito for $ 6.99

Came here for the famed sushi burrito. Thought it was AMAZING, ordered 4 sushi burritos and could only finish 1! Great food, great people. Food was out quickly and staff was very friendly. Our server was very nice and attentive. Will return again.

I was out on a weekend shopping for some furniture around the North and Clybourn area in Lincoln Park, and it was lunch time, so I wanted to find something that was both convenient and quick. And that’s how I found this sushi place. I ordered their lunch box which included 4 nigiri and 4 maki pieces along with a miso soup which was priced at $ 11, which I figured was reasonable in the area. The nigiri and maki were both OK, but nothing to write home about, as well as the edamame for appetizer. The service was also about par. My appetizer came after I had already started with the sushi, but other than that came by frequently enough to refill the water. I would only go back there to try out their sushi burrito.

Sushi was mediocre. Nothing special. Happy hour was empty. I wonder why? Five dollars for five pieces of sushi. Service was okay. Server not attentive because he was watching bulls game. Overall 5⁄10

Came in here for the sushi burrito. We had some avocado shrimp appetizer that was AMAZING! The sushi burrito was more like a Taco. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious. But when I hear burrito I think a meal and it definitely didn’t fill. I think if the burrito was a little bigger i would’ve given them five stars. Lol But it definitely was not worth the $ 7.99 that we paid for each. The service was great and they were very nice and attentive. I will definitely come back especially since they are a BYOB. Great for a casual date night. Especially since it is near public transportation and they have parking.

This is a late review, based on my experience here in August. Came here because of the news that they had the infamous Sushiritto! My friends and I each ordered a different Sushiritto and they were great. Not amazing, I want more. But nice to try. The reason why I am giving them three stars is their service. My server was this younger Asian guy, didn’t get the name. We waited awhile(compared to others) for our food. People who were seated 15 – 20 minutes after us started getting their food before us. Meanwhile we had not even gotten our appetizer yet. I asked our server whether we were going to get our appetizer, as I noticed others were getting their orders before us and he went to check. He comes back and says they are out of it. He did not apologize at all, or offer anything else. Then I asked him when he was going to tell us this. And he said«I am telling you now»(after 20 minutes?). Then I pointed out how everyone else got food before us. He left again. Then came back and started to defend the wait time saying making sushirittos takes longer than other dishes. Again, I did not know that nor were we informed of longer wait times for sushirittos. And this is NOT indicated on the menu either. I get it if it’s busy. And I get it if things take longer. And you ran out of certain foods, I get it happens. I am a pretty reasonable person and it takes a lot to get me annoyed. And this guy was successful at annoying me. The reason why I was perturbed the most is the way this server had the audacity to keep coming back with excuses, instead of solutions or apologies. I felt very disrespected and he had no apologetic tone at all. With answers like«well your food takes longer, I’m telling you now aren’t I?» And each time he gave me a snarky remark he went to the back somewhere. Like someone was feeding him lines from the kitchen. I don’t know. When we got our bill, he proudly pointed out he took out the appetizer. Thanks buddy, I’m glad I’m not paying for something that I did not get in the first place. Really? Wow. I am a manager in the retail industry. And so I have a pretty good idea what good customer service looks like. And this is not it. I’ll mark it up to this person being young. And come back again to try the sushiritto. But if you want to make it in the restaurant industry, please employ people that know how to interact with people(your paying customers) well and with respect. I did not interact with anyone else in the restaurant. So I can’t say the place as a whole is bad. But this server is my lasting impression. Perhaps I will go back sometime later and see how things go, then I wil update my review.

It was super when I went. There was only one girl serving the whole place. I felt bad for her, she deserved a good tip. It’s a small joint, I was glad we didn’t have to wait for a table. We got the sushirritos, a salmon and a shrimp, it’s what we came for. I recommend it! It’s basically a giant, uncut sushi roll. It’s a bit sweet tasting but the flavors work. I’m totally going back.

Just wanted to add what the owner left me for a message… First, there are NOT500 reviews. Second, the people in the restaurant were already eating so it was just me ordering AFTER lunch rush and it took almost 40 minutes. I know sushi isn’t fast food, but that’s absurd for a wait with MAYBE one other carryout and me being there first especially since I didn’t order a lot. I gave my unbiased review and if people want to agree or disagree they can, but I will not be disparaged by someone who can’t even write well. — — — — — — – This is sushi place. Not Past food. If you hurry you have to go junk food place somewhere. Think men. 500 comments good. Your life almost here. Good luck.

I came here and finally got to try a sushi burrito!!! I was impressed despite feeling pretty apprehensive. Ordered pick up and when my companion and I came to get our food it was an unorganized mess inside that place. I believe we came on a Saturday in the afternoon so maybe that a busier time for them. Even though we asked over the phone for extra soy sauce, because I am a salt fiend, they ended up only giving us 2 packets. I highly recommend anyone who loves sushi and burritos to get your butt over here and try their sushi burrito. You will not be disappointed.

The sushi burritos were the draw. I knew that going in that it is essentially a maki roll that is not cut up. The variety or ingredients could be better to zaaz it up(I think that’s a term). I didn’t see any rice paper wrap as other people noted — they make just changed this to nori. We also got the sushi tower which was pretty good. It was good overall and the staff is friendly.

The spicy tuna sushi burrito is good but everything else is sub par… The food took 40 minutes and service is so-so. Staff is friendly but can’t handle the traffic… They forgot things that came with the food…

Finding this restaurant may be tricky because it’s located in a small strip. The parking lot in here was small so during busy hours, you may have to find an alternative parking spot. I came here with a couple of friends and we were excited because we never had sushi burrito. We were seated almost immediately when we came in. I was intrigued by the paintings of sumo wrestlers on the wall. The TV was also playing sumo wrestling. Eventually, I ordered the spicy tuna roll. This is where it went downhill. It took about 40 minutes to get our order. 40 minutes! Not once did we also get our water refilled. Another downside was that the sushi burrito definitely did not fill me up, although, it was tasty. It was kind of difficult unwrapping it from the foil so be careful. Would I come back here again? I don’t know. Would I recommend this to a friend? Go to California and go to a restaurant called Sushirrito. That’s how it’s done.

So much more than I expected! We specifically wanted to try the sushi burritos and we weren’t sure what to expect as we’d heard/read the rest of the food wasn’t that great. If you’re just coming for the sushi burritos I’d say it’s worth it! We got one of every burrito except the veggie — all were delicious. The salmon was my favorite. It comes pretty loaded with filling(not just rice) and is wrapped in spring roll paper. The best surprise was the crispy tempura they added to the burrito… YUM! The atmosphere is pretty casual… it’s also BYOB and we had no issues with service.

I wish I could do 3.5 stars because I really liked the Avocado Bomb. We mostly tried the sushi burritos though. They use spring roll wrappers which I didn’t mind but the husband didn’t like that it tasted more like sushi spring roll than sushi burrito. All of the sushi burritos came with standard fillings: crab salad, avocado, cucumber, sweet potato, sauce. You get just a little bit of the filling that you chose: spicy tuna, salmon, shrimp or veggie. The tempura shrimp one was the fishiest tasting one which was disturbing to me. The avocado in the burrito was really unripe and hard. Overall, I didn’t think it was bad but I wished the filling we ordered was more abundant with less of the«filler» ingredients.

I came here after reading an article on how these guys have the only sushiritto in Chicago. The previous reviews had me wary but I really had a great experience! The miso soup was good, the avocado bomb was delicious and the spicy tuna sushiritto lives up to its hype on social media! I will definitely be back and plan on bringing other sushi loving friends to this little gem in the middle of a tiny shop plaza by north and clybourn. The only thing I thought was a bit off was the loudness level and inconsistency in playing music. And I can’t speak for the rush hour service since I went at an odd hour. But, once again, the food is amazing!

I read about the«sushi burritos» on Facebook and had to stop by here to see what all the fuss was about. 2 words… totally amazing! I can’t believe sushi burritos aren’t a thing everywhere! I’ve been to this place 4 times in the last 10 days for the burritos. They’re like the perfect food. They taste great. The perfect balance of fresh fish and rice/tempura/crab meat/and veggies all wrapped up in the perfect amount of seaweed and rice paper. Add a little wasabi and ginger to your liking, and it’s like heaven. Unfortunately one isn’t quite enough, but two is too much food so I recommend ordering or going with a friend to each each eat one and a half. I don’t know what the rest of their food tastes like, but glancing at the menu and seeing other customers plates while I wait to carry my burritos out, has me considering ordering something else besides the burritos. I just haven’t been tempted to do so yet. My only tiny complaint about this restaurant is they aren’t staffed up enough to handle the demand. Since the sushi burrito story hit social media this place has been a zoo. They’re phone is often busy and I can’t always get through to place an order. The wait time is also long because of the demand. But you know what? It’s worth it because sushi burritos should be their own food group!

Stopped in for happy hour(3 – 6). Boo and I ordered 3 rolls each($ 5/roll). It is a good value and satisfied our sushi fix, but it is a bit disappointing that the happy hour menu was quite limited. The rolls were made nicely and appropriate amount of rice was used. My yellowtail roll had an off taste to it though, which was not pleasant. I returned the following day since I was low on time and the place was nearby. I got the sumo ramen. The portion was quite satisfying and the chicken pieces were abundant and had a nice char on them. Didn’t expect freshly made noodles, but their ramen noodles were rather reminiscent of the Maruchan ramen packets. Broth was fine. I did enjoy the seaweed that they used. It was the soft kind instead of the usual crunchy ones in ramen. While I do like crunchy seaweed, the softer ones I feel give it more flavor. Overall, it was comforting. Both times I went, there were only a few other customers. However, I noticed that both times, others ordered ‘khuushuur,’ a Mongolian dish, so maybe this is where it’s at. I looked it up and they’re like giant pasties/empanadas. Service is pretty good and I do enjoy the ambiance with the nicely painted sumo wrestlers on the wall. Space seems clean. Definitely not my first choice but not a bad place.

This is a 2.75 star for me. I am rating JUST on the Salmon Sushi Burrito alone. I’ve had sushirrito in San Francisco a while ago and have been craving that ever since. Saw an ad on Sumo’s window that advertised sushi burritos for $ 5. Sold. I went in to order take out. They had spicy tuna and salmon. I picked Salmon. The seaweed wrap was also wrapped in a weird soy or rice paper(similar to the kind that Vietnamese restaurants use for spring rolls) which made it supppppper chewy. I thought I was actually eating paper. The inside came with sweet potato tempura as well. Not enough salmon at all. Overall, it tasted good but the extra rice paper thing has to go. AND it cost be about $ 8, NOT $ 5.

Must have: sushi happy hour with red salmon roll I have only been to Sumo for their sushi happy hour. On 4−6pm everyday, where a selection of their rolls(about 20 options) are $ 5. The sushi is good if you are hitting a sushi craving, but not worth destination for the sushi itself.(Caveat– I order from the happy hour menu, which probably does not showcase their full skills). My reliable rolls are the Fuji(sweet potato with wasabi mayo and cream cheese) and the red salmon(which does the best job of showcasing the fish of the happy hour rolls). It’s a pretty quiet restaurant, so no reservations necessary. BYOB establishment.

I’m pulling for these guys, but this location might just be cursed. It’s seen about 6 different tenants in the last two years so succeeding would seem to be about as tough as getting one of those big fat Japanese wrestler guys to squeeze into a Sumo mankini. It’s a pretty good day sushi spot though with fresh fish and some really affordable lunch specials. If you’re shopping at Best Buy or Bed Bath and Beyond, it’s definitely a decent option to stop in to satisfy or craving or get a light bight. Not really what I’d call a great date spot since big fat guys in bathing suits don’t exactly scream romance. The service is fast and friendly though, and you’ll likely never have to wait for a table. I don’t seem them really crushing it anytime soon since the location kinda sucks, but hopefully these guys can get over the hump.
